am i the only 1 here who thinks thousand year door is better...? I mean, it has: a better plot, improved combat/battle system, it has a free roam when you complete it, more stuff to do, it looks absolutely amazing, the partners are great and it has some great music.

So im sorry if I am an evil person for thinking that way but in my defense Thousand year door is just a really good game.

@BlaizeTheDragon No, you're not. I love the original as much as anyone, but Thousand year door is probabyl my favorite Mario game next to Sunshine. It probably has by far the deepest story line for any game and is jsut great.

For me the first one was more special and the second felt like a cheap copy somehow, still fun. When I played the first one again on the virtual console I realized the second was actually better, but all these memories I had from the enjoyment of the first game (I was pretty young then) weighed heavier. Still I think 2 recycled toooo many ideas (compare the partners, it feels like a joke)

@BlaizeTheDragon Plot wise, I think the original was best. It was like a traditional Mario adventure as an RPG, and it had great music. I'm inclined to agree with you about Thousand Year Dear when it comes to everything else though.

But both are really fun to play, and both are better than Super Paper Mario, which was the weakest of the three by far.

I think the commercial is supposed to about Mario become bored of his lack of adventures and the fire for a new adventure burns in him again. They really don't play on the fact that everything is paper.

But Mario adventures went on hiatus for 5 years after Super Mario 64, I don't think fans were exactly happy after waiting so long and not getting more Mario adventures (even if Mario Golf and Mario Tennis were pretty good, and their Game Boy Color counterparts are seen as excellent games).
