Instead, stay away from what you don't like & stick with what you do.
I bought this album when it came out, when I was in high school, and then it was stolen a couple years later. After listening to the whole thing again, I can't say that I miss it. I really wanted to like this album. Their first 5 albums were all homeruns, but there are only 3 songs on this album, that I can say I really enjoyed. Oh well, I'll give it another shot in a few months.
For all the "this is metal, this isnt metal" bullshit arguments. For as much as the band did for the metal genre, and bringing it to such diverse audiences, I think they should be given the benefit of the doubt. Just because they changed styles momentarily while recording this doesnt mean it's not heavy as hell. This album is more metal than Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or any of those other bands will ever be. Not hating on those bands, but metallica produces one heavy record after another...
Metallica should have went under another name making these songs because they aren't Metal and guess what people (Metal)lica. You don't name a band psychedelic to play fucking death metal.
