'Now there's a man, a living tool of Satan, He rushes forth while others are debatin'...AAh Mackie those women were yr Achilles heel, all give-ups when they're in a tantrum....thank heaven for the Victorious Messenger Riding Forth with a pardon, at the very last minute. Aah the third finale and the happy ending. Even Brecht said it was the most improbable of the 3 variations he wrote of the end of this charmingly metaphoric tale.
Its probably faster because many high schoolers probably haven't had the extensive training in breath control to make it slower... The tempo might have been changed for a number of reasons. I know our high school's production sang this song at roughly that tempo...
Great voice, she breathes a little too much. Is it just me or is this really fast? It definately is compared the 1954 Off Broadway CR (which has the same lyrics, so I'm guessing that's the version you're doing)
i know someone who can kick your ass in this song. learn to sing, and breathe properly!

why is this sung so fast? i really dislike the tempo, it's usually much slower. the way it's here stifles the subtle beauty of the song.
