  • "But its open!?"

"So it just happened to be open."

    Luv ya Yente!

  • I love how half these videos have a comment by Lamporre as one of their top rated comments.

  • yente, why are you looking through people's mail!? stalker...

  • this is my favorite part Hodel going to siberia..

  • "We have our rights." Not in Czarist Russia, you didn't, and especially not if you were a radical.

  • @bgdancer100 everyone who was against the Tsarist dictatorship was a 'radical' bro. the repressive state pretty much radicalized everyone. Theres areason bolshevism succeeded in the end... the people were fed up.

  • I guess Perchik didn't realize that his wonderful new government would persecute Jews more than the old one. This shows something about liberals.

  • Tevye is not that tradditional, he allows a lot even by liberal standards! Although maybe its just because he realises he has no controll or say in the matter.

  • "No doubt a Rabbi or 2 were also arrested..."

I know this is such a touching scene but when Tevye says that, it always makes me laugh a little lol

  • red flags... Bolsheviks anyone?

  • at around nine minutes into the vid, did the old man say "burn his cocaine?"

  • @TheSwtk i'm pretty sure it says 'burned his 'cooking'! but i did wonder at first, i have to admit! had to listen to it through twice!!!

  • 240p we meet again

  • again i find myself missing my dad and he's just in the other room

  • Tevye's look always so deep

  • He didn't ask me to go, I want to go. I don't want him to be alone, I want to help him in his work...

  • If I was Hodel I would jump off that train and run back bawling my eyes out!!

  • so it happened to be opened XP what a nosey match maker

  • I really wanna know what her life is like after she goes to Siberia...

  • 4:44 is so sweet.

  • "No doubt a Rabi or two were also arrested". Hilarious, isn't it? :):):)

  • I did this show, and I was Hodel. It was just an amazing life experiance.

  • Imagine a world, where rather than argue and fight with people when there is an issue of disagreement, the people just start singing. lol

  • @manguy2000 If that were the case, the Irish and the Welsh would rule the world.

  • Gee ... sabres and cavalry charges to quell a demonstration ... so much for nowadays' police violence ... ^^

  • awww :'( :'(

  • That train stopped like a car. tf?

  • @katjun314 they're at a TRAIN STATION

  • @katjun314 The engineer's job is to see the flag from far off and *start* stopping a ways back.

  • "Far From The Home I Love" is just one of many reasons I want to audition for Hodel in my school play coming up... :3 Except I might be able to since I just sprained my ankle... But I'll still try... I REALLY want to be in the play as Hodel.(:

  • Tears me up every time! And I've seen this 50+ times.

  • favourite song in the film!!

  • "So it happened to be open." lol. Love the matchmaker

  • I cry whenever Tevye's sad because he reminds me so much of my dad

  • soo saddd

  • "9:46" is that robin fucking williams???

  • @TheScottChapman No, unfortunately not. It does look and sound like him though.

  • I almost cried watching the flashback to Hodel as a child :')

  • He is permitted to divorce her even though she only burnt his dinner?

  • What year is the story happening?

  • @beatlegirl99 pre-revolution Russia.

  • @beatlegirl99

Like beepu2 wrote, pre Revolution Russia, between 1900 and 1914, I'd say.

  • @Briselance 1905, I'm told.

  • The fucking bitch read her mail!

  • @jbizzle871 yeah I am prob going to start bawling when I have to sing hahaha

  • @jbizzle871 haha that's awesome! I'm freaked out a little about singing this song solo though.... But whatever it should be fun

  • I am playing Hodel in the school play and I always cry when I hear this song... My performance should be verrrry interesting

  • @AfterlifeAuthor3 I'm playing Perchik in our school play right now! And yes it always make me cry too.

  • I dont even know who is who

    :P

Plus, SO TOUCHING DURING DA TRAIN PART!!! :*(

  • I think Hodel is the best singer of all

  • If she burns his food he has the right to divorce her??? Wow

  • "..but it's open!"

"So it happened to be opened."

  • its KINDA like the Jewish version of les miserable

  • The look on Tevye's face when his daughter is leaving is so heart wrenching. :'|

  • "If he did nothing wrong, he wouldn't be in trouble!"

Tevye, you're an honest worker, and a Jewish milkman in Tzarist Russia. Your daughter's wedding was attacked by a pogrom, and your people are being driven off land they've held for generations.

    You were saying?

  • 5:25 she looks like she's about to start crying

  • there with my love, I'm home.

  • hate is silly. acceptance and love is they way.

  • why do jews have such a dark voice ? do they get extra testosterone for reading thora ?

  • @markuslebt thora birch?

  • @MusikAndLuv

who the hell is thora birch ? ah ok she is an actress. no i meant chaim topol and many other jews i know that are sporting superdark voices with lots of bass.

wow by replying to this comment i have outed myself as another youtube loon.

  • This is such a tear jerker song -_-

  • I would be crying if i was him with my daughter leaving

  • D: wtf they just killed ppl like that?! no wonder my mom says the Russians are heartless :|

  • @animefangirlxx maybe the cold of the russian climate chilled their hearts their maybe nice russians out there somewhere

  • @animefangirlxx Unfortunately the same scenarios played out wherever the Jews went in europe, even in England where in modern times they have prospered. If the Russians are heartless for doing this than so are all people.

  • @MusikAndLuv oh I know that. Judaism and the Holocaust are the only things I managed to ace...lol what I mean when I say the Russians are heartless is that even during WW2, they would kill their own men. Not accidentally either....

  • Yente is so respecting of others' privacy.

  • Very moving segment.

  • "Surely somewhere, there are good things happening. Can't you buy a paper that prints those things?"

If only life were like that. But we cannot make a problem going away by pretending it doesn't exist.

  • "It doesn't cost anything to be friendly. So few people are like that..." And then the beggar passes her begging and she doesn't even notice, rofl!

  • 4:21- my favourite song in this film, and i always thought she was the prettiest sister aswell :)

  • 1:30 "neh-eh" LOL i LOVE that beggar guy. he comes in at the most inappropriate and random times!

  • @LMA629 LMAO yeah i always laugh at reb-nachum!!!! i just crack up even when it's serious because of his sounds.

  • I swear, that scene with Perchik reminds me SO much of Les Misérables!

  • @Izzy41630 I was just thinking the exact same thing!!! It reminds me of Marius' speech....oooh now I want to watch that movie too!!! I love it! :D

  • "Take care of her. See that she dresses warm." So touching...wow...

  • "If God was on earth, people would break His windows." Or crucify Him.

  • but would they be able to? no.

  • That's very right

  • can you please give this Jesus of Nazareth a rest . i hear those tells about christkillers all my life, please those jews who killed jesus are dead. and of the story. Christian anti semitics

  • @maciejadams I didn't think of that. I'm sorry if my comment brought those particular people up. However I, as a Christian, don't blame Jews for Jesus' death. Jesus was and is the Messiah. I am a gentile by birth, but I completely agree with Paul in Romans 11. The Lord isn't done with the Jews. God will be King over Israel again. Blessed be Jerusalem, the city of the Great King.

  • @maciejadams: You do realize that "Christian anti-semetics" is a bit of an oxy-moron? I suggest you learn a bit more before spouting your tongue.

  • thank you for the suggestion. but i do know what i am talking about. i realize taht Jesus was a Jew, but take a look around ! there are so many Christians, who despite the fact that their god was a Jew, still behave antisemitic.

  • @br1tp0p Technically no one killed God, they killed his son.

  • @br1tp0p Btw, try reading your Bible, eh? The jews suggested killing him, but guess what? The Romans DID kill him. Why are you bitching anyway? No Crucifixion, no saving from Sins. Be thankful you ungrateful Christophiles.

  • @br1tp0p they are Jewish so they wouldn't recognize christ...

  • @br1tp0p I 100% agree with you

  • "So it happened to be open."

The name Yente fits her. lol

  • also truly beautiful music.

  • I love this movie. thanks for posting.
