  • in the pocket mane

  • man!! keep on going playing this great music and on such a nice kit!

  • Good Stuff! Thanks for putting it online.

  • I enjoyed this!

  • hinchman12...u got it down man!!! Like for real....im a freshman in college and my favorite band by far is the Dan....thanks for keeping this band alive with these sick beats!!! mad props man! by far the best young drum player on youtube that I have seen nail a steely dan song! Nice song choice too...Aja is an incredible album!

  • Bernard Purdie right? Great song, very fun to play along to. Good job man, I also like your cover on "King of the World"

  • Bashing or no bashing - very tight.

Nice to see the young fellas working on the Dan. Keep it up.

  • Hey man fuck what dankenton said your real good keep it up bud!

  • Not bad but you're bashing too much. This groove is silky smooth so you need to work on your bounce and dynamics a bit and keep your hats playing those even swung 1/8ths without breaking them up with barks and fills. The open hat fills on the chorus should not be accented with the stick with upstrokes. Let your foot do the work while keep the sticking even and you'll get the effect.

  • I agree wholeheartedly, but it is still impressive. Keep it happenin man!!!!

  • He's not bashing its just the acoustic effect. He is playing this groove the way it was played.A double parradidlle shuffle.

  • Double paraddidle shuffle?? Uh, no! It's called the Purdie shuffle and the sticking is totally different. And yes, he's playing it wrong and my previous advice was meant as constructive support, not denigration. That's probably why the comment has 6 positive points from others.

Get your facts straight before you chime in junior.

  • @dankenton

Yes, there's a spot on demo from Perdie himself here on youtube. I've yet to see anyone on here really play this song with the proper groove and feel consistently. This cover is pretty good overall, with some work needed on the nuances

  • Better than the other one. And honestly, you're the first (amateur) person I've seen on youtube nail this groove. I'm with you. I love Bernard.
