@MrGlockaholic That little rubber sleeze actually came with the gun. I think its only purpose was for shipping, to protect it in the box, cause when I got mine, it was in a real slim box, and the charging handle was actually poking out of the box! It slides off easily but I like keeping it on, obviously for storing it.

@95Eg6SoCal I got my AK at Turners, not sure if any are near to where you are (I'm in southern CA "the valley") I picked it up on sale for $399 (+tax and DOJ fees) they seem to go on sale at least every 3-4 weeks at least lately. I think for the money they are AWESOME guns and lots of fun, I def recommend one!

Theres an ammo sale at LAX firing range. Are you registered on their website? 1000 rds of 7.62 for 180....Right now im workning on my AR i have a complete lower so far.

They have a new sale starting every Friday, and you can usually see the new add online Thursday afternoon to see what's going up on sale. Thanks for the heads up on LAX I will check that out. Getting my first AR soon too, went with the cheapo first, S&W M&P 5.56 sport for $700, wanna build my next one!
@dunetrash2500 cool thats where I've seen it the cheapes online, Thats going to be my next rifle after i complet my AR. I bought a complet lower for 300 out the door. So im planning on getting a lower for about 350-500 . I might just get a basic one and then work on it. . Im planning on buyin a JD upper. they are from San Diego. Im going to call turners I havent seen the wasr on sale for a while...
So would you sand and refinish the wood or? Looks like the wood could use some varnish or something. Not sure how that works with guns with wood. Any info would be great.
@FOXnewsAlien Many do refinish the wood furniture. Many of them like to use steel wool for sanding 1st, cause it wont take off too much surface of the furniture while smoothing it, some use really high grit sandpaper. I may try the steel wool, and if that doesnt work, then move to the sandpaper. For stain/varnish, some like to "dye" the wood first with a redish to plum "RIT' dye then stain/ varnish (to get that redish look to the wood) some just use straight stain with or without varnish

You should get the UTG 5th gen side mount...way better...always zeroed, on/off in a matter of seconds and its like 30 bucks
