@KyrieMikomi Well, considering the fact that he was the first built, ever, and the fact that he's always been this sort of "guardian" character kind of confirms the fact that he wouldn't perish.
In one of the Megaman arcade games, in his story line, Dr. Light mentions that he knows Protoman's body is failing him and that he wishes to repair him. Protoman denies this and heads off. Even in a game like the Megaman series, immortality for symbolism is a bit over the top. I mean, even Sigma fades from sight at some point.
@ZaneHitsurugi But he has the copy ability, as seen in MM9 and MM10. If he went and beat all the robot masters, he'd have 88 suits. If you include the Proto Coil and Super Arrow (MM5) that's 90. Pretty good, no?
Protoman's attitude in this game seemed more akin to the one from the T.V show, being more of a "too cool for school" character, compared to Mega Man Powered Up where he was serious and and a loner. Don't get me wrong, I liked this protoman, and he still had some loner talk, but I liked PU protoman more.
@AdmiralBobbery123 I agree. One of Proto Man's traits is that he is alone. That's why his Japaneses name is Blues. Can you think of a better genre of music to describe him?
I'm fairly sure that Zero WAS activated, killed Wily and then maybe killed the rest of the main characters(Megaman, Protoman, Bass, ect even Roll and perhaps Rush).I only doubt Treble because he was sorta in X1 as Sigma's dog. Then maybe Zero'd taken enough Damage to have to go into stasis or something. It would definitely explain the absence of so many characters.
@lizardbrain666 Zero's capsule wasn't opened until after Wily died. However, it is true that Zero was Maverick when he woke up, but after fighting with Sigma (and passing the virus), he became a Hunter. I believe that the Robot Masters (excluding X and Zero, since technically they aren't Reploids and their creation dates are that of RM; I still consider them Reploids anyway but some people don't) all ceased functioning as technology advanced, most likely from outdated fuel which was unavailable.
@DanyxEleven Technically they're Robot Masters due to when they were made but they're also Reploids, which is a robot that can decide for itself and grow mentally just like a human. So really they're both.
@SeanNelsonIsTheBomb Bass finding his blueprints means Zero is soon going to be awakened. When Zero is awakened, it means X will soon be created and Zero will be unleashed, ushering in the X series.
Every megaman character dies before the X series by Zero's hand or otherwise. thats why they arnt in those games.Proto probably dies after this game due to his powercore, which has been unstable since his birth.

@saurfan The thing is Megaman The Power Fighters is currently the last canonical entry in the Classic series iirc, because its where Bass finds Zero's blueprints....so its assumed that after The Power Fighters ended, Protoman died :(
@NikkeiDS Megaman 10 is still before "MegaMan: The Power Fighters" which is the last canonical game in the Classic Megaman series. In the ending, Dr.Light tells Protoman he has a fatal flaw with his core system and he wants to fix it. Protoman is too stubborn to accept his help, and also wants to keep his personality and free will knowing Light will change it. So its presumed he dies.
@Thegoldandsilverboy7 na nanana, fuck that, i wanna see something where Protoman pops up infront of x and zero and pops off somethin like "long time no see, lil bro"

I figured it was Zero who did them in since Willy was wokring on him during power fighters and because when we see zero from the past he was a maverick which meant that he was a reploid which destroyed human and droids alike
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No I saw some explanation by the creator of Megaman. X is the same robot as Megaman, but Dr. Light upgraded him and sealed him in a time capsule. His memory was wiped in the upgrade process.
I could be wrong on this, but I thought leaving unfinished wasn't HIS idea? As I recall- again, I'm probably wrong- but his being in an unfinished state leaves him in a constant state of intense pain
I feel bad for Protoman/Blues. He's dying so slowly because of his lack of trust for Dr. Light and the fact that he resents Dr. Light for leaving him unfinished.
The story of the bots is confusing. Wily actually builds Zero to destroy Mega Man (which happened), but was too powerful to control, so Zero was sealed away. After that incident, Light made X. it's possible that Zero destroyed Bass as well. Protoman is believed to have blown up and Roll's story is still unclear. besides, MMX4 proved Wily made Zero to defeat the original Mega Man.
My problem with what you said in that Keiji inafune said that zero didn't kill megaman. I personally think that wily would have taken control when there wasn't megaman, even without zero
yeah, but he would have never been able to do it because of the laws of robotics. He can think of what he'd like to do to Wily, however actually carrying out the action is impossible for him.
1) Zero was just a name Wily gave him to sound evil probably
2) Except the only weapon Wily gave Zero was the Z-Buster, the shield was created with properties from Zero's Z-Saber, and plenty of characters have shields
3) A lot of cool characters show up when the time is right
4) They have absolutely nothing to do with each other though
But if they were X and Zero like you say, why did they kill them off (Zero more than X) in the Megaman X and Zero series?
I'd say That Zero was given Bass's mind which was programed by Wily to destroy Megaman. When Megaman was destroyed, Protoman probably tried to stop Zero and failed with death being his price. Thus, X was born from Dr. Light after losing both Megaman and Protoman withthe same basis as Megaman.
The problem with that theory is that just like all the other robots during the classic games, Bass can't kill humans, his mind is programmed not to do so. Zero doesn't have that weakness, which is how he's able to kill Dr. Weil in MMZ4. Plus Zero was never activated until that flashback scene in Megaman X4 where Sigma found him.
But maybe Bass's mind was reprogrammed to allow him to attack humans, but Bass was so focused on Megaman, Wily disassembled him and created Zero with Bass' s mind. The rest you're probably right on.
Yeah, but if you go by the ending for Bass in Power Fighters Wily's already in the process of building Zero, he even shows Bass. Zero's mind is based off of the designs for X. I think given his past history with Bass, the last thing Wily would want is the mind of Bass in Zero's body.
a lot of people talk abt this, but I still don't know where they got it from that Zero's based on X? it didn't say anywhere in the games.. has mr.Inafune said it in an interview or something? =S
It's implied (but never mentioned in the game) that when Bass/Forte thrashes Dr. Light's lab in Megaman 7, he also stole or took a copy of the blueprints for X. That was probably Wily's best chance to nab them. A lot of the MM plot is left open-ended so it's really up to the player to fill in the blanks though.
I dunno, I think it's supposed to be official or mentioned in one of the books in Japan that reveal some history and such. X was definitely in progress first though, that's for sure, and I don't believe Light even knew that Wily was building Zero. They had to have been built at the same time, although Bass' ending in this game shows that Wily might have finished Zero faster than Light finished X.
possibly, and due to an accident, X and zero lost that programming, that when they met, they did not try to kill each other, they teamed up. WHO KNOWS?
@SolidThugKnuckles Um...well...I think it was trying to imply that he stole the plans for the Rush thing, since it said he stole the power ups for megaman and rush to be used for him and treble.
@IAmErrorVideos Yeah, I already know that, but like I said, it's implied by Capcom (not in the game mind you, as I said) that he also took a copy of X's blueprints that Wily used to start working on Zero. It makes perfect sense and explains how Wily was able to build a robot like Zero to begin with. After all, Wily copied the whole Rush merging with Megaman thing for Bass and Treble, why wouldn't he take more of Dr. Light's stuff while he had the chance?
@SolidThugKnuckles Doubt it. I mean, in Megaman 2- The Power Battles, Bass seems to have had no idea of Zero's Power, and im sure, knowing Bass, that he would have read the Blueprints himself. Also, Wily said he had created a new energy specificly for Zero.
that theory was actually debunked by the fanbase for various reasons- not the least of which is that Light first started conceptualizing robots who can 'Worry" and decide right from wrong on their own in this very game, when Wily mind games Rock by telling him he is no better than himself for destroying his robots, requiring his friends to set him back on the right track and remind him that its not true.
That and Wily had no prior knowledge of X. Zero WAS meant to -CONT
Be activated during his lifetime to defeat Mega Man, Bass, and help him conquer the world.
However, Zero had a flaw in his Cognitive program that caused him to be overly violent and uncontrollable, unwilling to follow orders. So Wily sealed him away, and never got around to using him before his death.
While X was built in Secret, for the sake of the future. to both dawn a new era of robots, and to protect the future if necessary.
(Zero info from the Zero collection timeline- since removed)
@FlameG102 Both Doctors have invented fantastic machines in their own respect, though wily has sometimes shown a good side. It's more of a hidden away "Flaw". Wily himself thinks he can never be good but, Megaman has evolved into more of a tyrant story pinnacle than just a "Run n gun" game.
@SolidThugKnuckles I dunno. Given Bass' character, I doubt he would steal something that wouldn't benefit himself directly, especially not something that would help Wily build a more powerful robot than himself.
@SolidThugKnuckles Implied but not true. Zero when he was first built was ALREADY evil to begin with(thank you Wily), and Sigma is probably the only one who had described Zero as a "Maverick" back then, not because of the virus, but of the intensely threatening nature that easily puts anyone else in danger. Almost in the same manner as Vile, but Vile's excuse was that of an unrepairable circuit in his brain that caused it. Nuff said. :)
@kingdomcome3914 All the same, it was the virus that made Zero crazy. After Sigma shashes his forehead crystal and recieves the virus Zero is a good guy.
2 year old post, but I'm bored and want to post. This is not entirely true. Megaman X took place after the original megaman series had ended. The time when there was a fight between Dr. Light and Dr. W had passed, and a more advanced war between the robots themselves had formed. Dr Light had placed X in a long slumber before he was later awakened to help stop the war that Sigma had created. So it's not that it wasn't finished with the original series, it simply ended.
@KyrieMikomi It's true that MMX happens after the classic series, but I don't believe that there was another robot war during the two series. Light placed X into that capsule to test whether or not X could handle the ability of free will (what with him being the first robot of his kind to have that ability and all). When Dr. Cain finds X 30 years later, reploids like Sigma weren't around yet. Cain studies X and uses him as the template for the reploids. *continued*
@KyrieMikomi Cain fails to use the testing that X had, and that leads to a lot of the reploids going rogue/maverick. Sigma is created as the leader of the Maverick Hunters, and then at some point later on after the Zero virus is transferred to him following that fight he had with Zero, and he begins to take part in the Maverick Wars. Light had the idea that something like this would happen, but he didn't seal X away with the intent of stopping a war; he just wanted to make sure X would be ok.
Mmm. Non the less, the point is made that the story did continue from the original series. Having played the zero series and that DS game involving you using the suits to fight evil (honestly forgot the name), kind of is the end of it all as well. I really don't consider the net series as actually apart of the megaman series. @-@
Lil late probably, but from what I've got from all the X games/Power Fighters, Zero is the combinations of the failures that was Protoman and Bass, since Wily claimed in PF2 that Bass was a mistake while he was looking over MM's blueprints, and at one point, I remember he hinted that Protoman's failure was part of a grander scheme Wily had, I hint this towards either foreshadowing of either Zero, or even Bass in some cases. Not alot is shown on who built who first, but Id imagine Zero came first
Protoman comes from the Classic series and Zero was in the X series. So we're talking a completely different Light and Wily in the creation of both characters, therefore we can't tell which one came first.
At any rate, this is my favorite official version of the song, thank you for uploading it.
Zero was created by Willy they should it during a cutscene from Megaman Powerfighters when you win with Bass and Protoman. Protoman came first but zero was his ultimate creation which I believed destroyed Willy and Megaman and led to the creation of X
The sighting of Zero in Power Fighters is an Easter Egg I believe. Because the X Series has proven to be an entirely different series from the Classic Series. Hence why after all those years we have Megaman 9 and Megaman 10: Megaman X never occurred in the Classic timeline.
actually x is part of the classic time line hundreds of years after x, people think that the robot virus that is in megaman 10 is a prototype for the maverick virus in a sense, so that could be a link, the only seris that didnt happen after the classic time line is MMBN and thats because it was in a diffrent universe [people didnt progress with robots, instead they progressed with the internet] if you want a actual time line look at the megaman wiki.
@psycobando ....they do take place after each other. After the very last of the classic games, Wily will have build Zero and Dr. Light X, but they are both sealed away, and are then woken up a hundred years later, Dr. Cain creates the reploids from X, and the X series take place.
Protoman doesn't want help from anyone, not just Dr. Light. He wouldn't have accepted Wily's help, especially since he knows Wily's a dick (see the end of Megaman 9, he tries to tell Megaman that Wily's trying to trick him again), and even so, I would think that if Wily made a robot that unique, he'd give it a mind of its own.
X and Zero are both unique because their robot minds allow them to think freely and decide their own fates. They aren't the same as MM and Proto for that reason alone. MM and Proto's minds are bound by the laws of robotics, if Proto were Zero he wouldn't have been able to kill Dr. Weil, a human, at the end of MMZ4. X and Zero are so advanced that MM and PM are ancient compared to them.
I 100% agree SolidThugKnuckles. The idea that Protoman's mind is transfered into Zero goes little too far. And even Megaman's creator Keiji Inafune has confirmed that megaman and X are different robots.
True..... but at a time i thought megaman could grow up or doctor light updated his body (considering he looks like a kid (10-12) in the original. and looks like a teen (16-18) in X
Zero was never activated during the original MM series, ever. The first time he wakes up is during the flashback scene in X4 when he fights Sigma. Bass was either shut down by Wily or inevitably killed by Megaman.
I wish capcom would go ahead and make a game, movie, soundtrack or book that explained what happened between the original series an the X sereis like they did for the X and Zero series
There isn't really much to it. Megaman became Quint when he was abducted by a time traveling Dr. Wily and his past self kills him or he became too broken/outdated, Protoman died from his defect, Bass either was deactivated or killed by Megaman, Dr. Light died from old age, and Wily found a way to upload his consciousness into the Zero virus and dies in X5. And of course X and Zero aren't found until before Megaman X the game.
Nice theory, not exactly the one I came up with but still is good. However Protoman dying from his defect doesn't sound very Protoman, and Bass getting killed by Megaman, eh. Also if Dr. Wily can travel through time why not go to the past and kill Megaman or Dr. Light.
Yeah, those are just assumptions. The Wily and the virus thing was confirmed as legit though in some recent interview with the creator of Megaman if I remember. As for Wily's time traveling, maybe he realized it was too dangerous to mess with the past. All in all it's a good thing we don't know what happened in the original series. It's meant to be light-hearted and fun mixed with some seriousness, not dark like the X series.
I like these assumptions you guys have made. This is what I think happened.
Megaman's Death: I have no idea of how this happens.
Protoman's Death: Same here.
Bass Death: Probably destroyed by Zero around the time he was activated by Wily.
Dr. Light: Old Age, but a few years before his death, he wanted to make a new type of robot, which turned out to be X. He knew he wouldn't live long enough to see the finished project, so he sealed X away, hoping someone from the future would find him.
Well judging by the Mega Man/Bass ending in Power Fighters, my guess is that they both die in battle, and they say that Protoman will be destroyed if he isn't fixed, which he likely isn't.
IIRC, the Rockman World games are said to be non-canon to the main series, so it probably doesn't matter regardless. I don't think it was ever intended to be canon seeing that Rockman was surprised to see Cutman revived in RM8 when he also appeared in RMW1 for the GB. Rockman's reaction implies that its the first time he saw Cutman since the NES Rockman 1.
Because the quality of the sound, in comparition to the music in Power Fighters (Not 'Battles', check your post as well =P [PW: Take That!]) is considerabily lower to the other themes (such as PharaohMan's theme), making it sound just like it's from The Power Battle, not The Power Fighters. Thus, that is why I asked it.
Look I had no problem with your question, if I did I would have posted my comment in a mean way. I just simply told you why I think you got the thumbs down. Also the theme in the Battles is slightly different and higher pitch if you listen to it. But I could see where the mistake comes from.
Nah Thanks, I had no problem with the thumbs down, actually. o_o But it reminds me of annoying fanboys who comes against me just because, for exameple ">8U U CONFUEZD X 4 TEH ORIGINAL MEGAMANZ, KILL HIM WITH FIRE".
But yeah, yer right... Also, it is perhaps because I forgot most of the themes in Fighters were directly ripped from the PSX Complete Works games...
Am I the only one that for some reason related this type of song to Dejavu for the Nes? Fuck that game. D;

Wily does seem to have some kind of problem, after all he didn't care about correctly repairing ProtoMan, Zero was only half-built as well ...
Beremor 2 years ago
willy was building zero when megaman ( not x) was fighting bass, so basicly he used protoman's and bass ' specs to build him(zero)
i cant cite the game atm where oit says so ijuz wanted to listen to sum good them,es eh

I could be wrong on this, but I thought leaving unfinished wasn't HIS idea? As I recall- again, I'm probably wrong- but his being in an unfinished state leaves him in a constant state of intense pain

I agree, it is a good character trait, but it sure doesn't help him any.

I feel bad for Protoman/Blues. He's dying so slowly because of his lack of trust for Dr. Light and the fact that he resents Dr. Light for leaving him unfinished.

Or maybe zero was built and then he later killed bass even though i have palyed megaman and bass he hates wily and betrays him

thetemporaryusername 2 years ago
The story of the bots is confusing. Wily actually builds Zero to destroy Mega Man (which happened), but was too powerful to control, so Zero was sealed away. After that incident, Light made X. it's possible that Zero destroyed Bass as well. Protoman is believed to have blown up and Roll's story is still unclear. besides, MMX4 proved Wily made Zero to defeat the original Mega Man.
h3llg3ar 2 years ago
My problem with what you said in that Keiji inafune said that zero didn't kill megaman. I personally think that wily would have taken control when there wasn't megaman, even without zero

gawreluck 2 years ago
yeah, but he would have never been able to do it because of the laws of robotics. He can think of what he'd like to do to Wily, however actually carrying out the action is impossible for him.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
Protoman is similar to Zero in MMX while he appearance from mini adventure in Megaman.
roypeter347 2 years ago
1) Zero was just a name Wily gave him to sound evil probably
2) Except the only weapon Wily gave Zero was the Z-Buster, the shield was created with properties from Zero's Z-Saber, and plenty of characters have shields
3) A lot of cool characters show up when the time is right
4) They have absolutely nothing to do with each other though
But if they were X and Zero like you say, why did they kill them off (Zero more than X) in the Megaman X and Zero series?
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
I'd say That Zero was given Bass's mind which was programed by Wily to destroy Megaman. When Megaman was destroyed, Protoman probably tried to stop Zero and failed with death being his price. Thus, X was born from Dr. Light after losing both Megaman and Protoman withthe same basis as Megaman.
BSHEA4063 2 years ago
The problem with that theory is that just like all the other robots during the classic games, Bass can't kill humans, his mind is programmed not to do so. Zero doesn't have that weakness, which is how he's able to kill Dr. Weil in MMZ4. Plus Zero was never activated until that flashback scene in Megaman X4 where Sigma found him.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
But maybe Bass's mind was reprogrammed to allow him to attack humans, but Bass was so focused on Megaman, Wily disassembled him and created Zero with Bass' s mind. The rest you're probably right on.
BSHEA4063 2 years ago
Yeah, but if you go by the ending for Bass in Power Fighters Wily's already in the process of building Zero, he even shows Bass. Zero's mind is based off of the designs for X. I think given his past history with Bass, the last thing Wily would want is the mind of Bass in Zero's body.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
a lot of people talk abt this, but I still don't know where they got it from that Zero's based on X? it didn't say anywhere in the games.. has mr.Inafune said it in an interview or something? =S
MsLeace 2 years ago
It's implied (but never mentioned in the game) that when Bass/Forte thrashes Dr. Light's lab in Megaman 7, he also stole or took a copy of the blueprints for X. That was probably Wily's best chance to nab them. A lot of the MM plot is left open-ended so it's really up to the player to fill in the blanks though.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago 29
so it's not actually mentioned that Wily even knew that dr.Light was creating X. fan-speculation, how did it become a fact among the players? lol
maybe Zero was made even before X?
maybe dr.Light created X to stop Zero? ^^
MsLeace 2 years ago
I dunno, I think it's supposed to be official or mentioned in one of the books in Japan that reveal some history and such. X was definitely in progress first though, that's for sure, and I don't believe Light even knew that Wily was building Zero. They had to have been built at the same time, although Bass' ending in this game shows that Wily might have finished Zero faster than Light finished X.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago 3
possibly, and due to an accident, X and zero lost that programming, that when they met, they did not try to kill each other, they teamed up. WHO KNOWS?
transformer333 2 years ago
@SolidThugKnuckles Um...well...I think it was trying to imply that he stole the plans for the Rush thing, since it said he stole the power ups for megaman and rush to be used for him and treble.
IAmErrorVideos 1 year ago
@IAmErrorVideos Yeah, I already know that, but like I said, it's implied by Capcom (not in the game mind you, as I said) that he also took a copy of X's blueprints that Wily used to start working on Zero. It makes perfect sense and explains how Wily was able to build a robot like Zero to begin with. After all, Wily copied the whole Rush merging with Megaman thing for Bass and Treble, why wouldn't he take more of Dr. Light's stuff while he had the chance?
SolidThugKnuckles 1 year ago
@SolidThugKnuckles Ummm...Plot device? Maybe? No?
IAmErrorVideos 1 year ago
@SolidThugKnuckles Doubt it. I mean, in Megaman 2- The Power Battles, Bass seems to have had no idea of Zero's Power, and im sure, knowing Bass, that he would have read the Blueprints himself. Also, Wily said he had created a new energy specificly for Zero.
newkdawg3000 1 year ago
that theory was actually debunked by the fanbase for various reasons- not the least of which is that Light first started conceptualizing robots who can 'Worry" and decide right from wrong on their own in this very game, when Wily mind games Rock by telling him he is no better than himself for destroying his robots, requiring his friends to set him back on the right track and remind him that its not true.
That and Wily had no prior knowledge of X. Zero WAS meant to -CONT
FlameG102 1 year ago
Be activated during his lifetime to defeat Mega Man, Bass, and help him conquer the world.
However, Zero had a flaw in his Cognitive program that caused him to be overly violent and uncontrollable, unwilling to follow orders. So Wily sealed him away, and never got around to using him before his death.
While X was built in Secret, for the sake of the future. to both dawn a new era of robots, and to protect the future if necessary.
(Zero info from the Zero collection timeline- since removed)
FlameG102 1 year ago
@FlameG102 Both Doctors have invented fantastic machines in their own respect, though wily has sometimes shown a good side. It's more of a hidden away "Flaw". Wily himself thinks he can never be good but, Megaman has evolved into more of a tyrant story pinnacle than just a "Run n gun" game.
spike007980 1 year ago
@SolidThugKnuckles I dunno. Given Bass' character, I doubt he would steal something that wouldn't benefit himself directly, especially not something that would help Wily build a more powerful robot than himself.
tacoman422 1 year ago
@SolidThugKnuckles Implied but not true. Zero when he was first built was ALREADY evil to begin with(thank you Wily), and Sigma is probably the only one who had described Zero as a "Maverick" back then, not because of the virus, but of the intensely threatening nature that easily puts anyone else in danger. Almost in the same manner as Vile, but Vile's excuse was that of an unrepairable circuit in his brain that caused it. Nuff said. :)
kingdomcome3914 8 months ago
@kingdomcome3914 All the same, it was the virus that made Zero crazy. After Sigma shashes his forehead crystal and recieves the virus Zero is a good guy.

@SolidThugKnuckles
KyrieMikomi 5 months ago
@KyrieMikomi It's true that MMX happens after the classic series, but I don't believe that there was another robot war during the two series. Light placed X into that capsule to test whether or not X could handle the ability of free will (what with him being the first robot of his kind to have that ability and all). When Dr. Cain finds X 30 years later, reploids like Sigma weren't around yet. Cain studies X and uses him as the template for the reploids. *continued*
SolidThugKnuckles 5 months ago
@KyrieMikomi Cain fails to use the testing that X had, and that leads to a lot of the reploids going rogue/maverick. Sigma is created as the leader of the Maverick Hunters, and then at some point later on after the Zero virus is transferred to him following that fight he had with Zero, and he begins to take part in the Maverick Wars. Light had the idea that something like this would happen, but he didn't seal X away with the intent of stopping a war; he just wanted to make sure X would be ok.
SolidThugKnuckles 5 months ago
@SolidThugKnuckles
Mmm. Non the less, the point is made that the story did continue from the original series. Having played the zero series and that DS game involving you using the suits to fight evil (honestly forgot the name), kind of is the end of it all as well. I really don't consider the net series as actually apart of the megaman series. @-@
KyrieMikomi 5 months ago
Lil late probably, but from what I've got from all the X games/Power Fighters, Zero is the combinations of the failures that was Protoman and Bass, since Wily claimed in PF2 that Bass was a mistake while he was looking over MM's blueprints, and at one point, I remember he hinted that Protoman's failure was part of a grander scheme Wily had, I hint this towards either foreshadowing of either Zero, or even Bass in some cases. Not alot is shown on who built who first, but Id imagine Zero came first
ChaoticArrow155 2 years ago
Protoman comes from the Classic series and Zero was in the X series. So we're talking a completely different Light and Wily in the creation of both characters, therefore we can't tell which one came first.
At any rate, this is my favorite official version of the song, thank you for uploading it.
psycobando 2 years ago 4
Zero was created by Willy they should it during a cutscene from Megaman Powerfighters when you win with Bass and Protoman. Protoman came first but zero was his ultimate creation which I believed destroyed Willy and Megaman and led to the creation of X
Vectic 2 years ago
The sighting of Zero in Power Fighters is an Easter Egg I believe. Because the X Series has proven to be an entirely different series from the Classic Series. Hence why after all those years we have Megaman 9 and Megaman 10: Megaman X never occurred in the Classic timeline.
psycobando 2 years ago
actually x is part of the classic time line hundreds of years after x, people think that the robot virus that is in megaman 10 is a prototype for the maverick virus in a sense, so that could be a link, the only seris that didnt happen after the classic time line is MMBN and thats because it was in a diffrent universe [people didnt progress with robots, instead they progressed with the internet] if you want a actual time line look at the megaman wiki.
blueboy093 2 years ago
@psycobando ....they do take place after each other. After the very last of the classic games, Wily will have build Zero and Dr. Light X, but they are both sealed away, and are then woken up a hundred years later, Dr. Cain creates the reploids from X, and the X series take place.
cooljobsrule 2 years ago
zero came afterwards they should illy building him in pf2 and bass is shocked to see him al you get is a silhouette but anypne can tell its zero
Vectic 2 years ago
Protoman doesn't want help from anyone, not just Dr. Light. He wouldn't have accepted Wily's help, especially since he knows Wily's a dick (see the end of Megaman 9, he tries to tell Megaman that Wily's trying to trick him again), and even so, I would think that if Wily made a robot that unique, he'd give it a mind of its own.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
X and Zero are both unique because their robot minds allow them to think freely and decide their own fates. They aren't the same as MM and Proto for that reason alone. MM and Proto's minds are bound by the laws of robotics, if Proto were Zero he wouldn't have been able to kill Dr. Weil, a human, at the end of MMZ4. X and Zero are so advanced that MM and PM are ancient compared to them.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago 3
I 100% agree SolidThugKnuckles. The idea that Protoman's mind is transfered into Zero goes little too far. And even Megaman's creator Keiji Inafune has confirmed that megaman and X are different robots.
Hanazono1 2 years ago 3
True..... but at a time i thought megaman could grow up or doctor light updated his body (considering he looks like a kid (10-12) in the original. and looks like a teen (16-18) in X
lilshokan 2 years ago
hmm... good point.and yea, zero probably does kill bass.
drawnman1 2 years ago
Zero was never activated during the original MM series, ever. The first time he wakes up is during the flashback scene in X4 when he fights Sigma. Bass was either shut down by Wily or inevitably killed by Megaman.
SolidThugKnuckles 2 years ago
How in the world does any of that prove that protoman is zero, honestly?
drawnman1 2 years ago
He appeared in MegaMan & Bass and is playable in MegaMan 9... So he has appeared after MegaMan 8.
LakeHikariAsakura 3 years ago
I wish capcom would go ahead and make a game, movie, soundtrack or book that explained what happened between the original series an the X sereis like they did for the X and Zero series
DreamKing2 3 years ago
There isn't really much to it. Megaman became Quint when he was abducted by a time traveling Dr. Wily and his past self kills him or he became too broken/outdated, Protoman died from his defect, Bass either was deactivated or killed by Megaman, Dr. Light died from old age, and Wily found a way to upload his consciousness into the Zero virus and dies in X5. And of course X and Zero aren't found until before Megaman X the game.
SolidThugKnuckles 3 years ago
Nice theory, not exactly the one I came up with but still is good. However Protoman dying from his defect doesn't sound very Protoman, and Bass getting killed by Megaman, eh. Also if Dr. Wily can travel through time why not go to the past and kill Megaman or Dr. Light.
DreamKing2 3 years ago
Yeah, those are just assumptions. The Wily and the virus thing was confirmed as legit though in some recent interview with the creator of Megaman if I remember. As for Wily's time traveling, maybe he realized it was too dangerous to mess with the past. All in all it's a good thing we don't know what happened in the original series. It's meant to be light-hearted and fun mixed with some seriousness, not dark like the X series.
SolidThugKnuckles 3 years ago
I like these assumptions you guys have made. This is what I think happened.
Megaman's Death: I have no idea of how this happens.
Protoman's Death: Same here.
Bass Death: Probably destroyed by Zero around the time he was activated by Wily.
Dr. Light: Old Age, but a few years before his death, he wanted to make a new type of robot, which turned out to be X. He knew he wouldn't live long enough to see the finished project, so he sealed X away, hoping someone from the future would find him.
Blaziken334892 3 years ago
Well judging by the Mega Man/Bass ending in Power Fighters, my guess is that they both die in battle, and they say that Protoman will be destroyed if he isn't fixed, which he likely isn't.
Snowball3028 3 years ago
I always liked the idea that Megaman was destroyed by Zero but his remains where used by Dr Light to build X.
theemrx 3 years ago
IIRC, the Rockman World games are said to be non-canon to the main series, so it probably doesn't matter regardless. I don't think it was ever intended to be canon seeing that Rockman was surprised to see Cutman revived in RM8 when he also appeared in RMW1 for the GB. Rockman's reaction implies that its the first time he saw Cutman since the NES Rockman 1.

LakeHikariAsakura 3 years ago
Well you kind of were asking for it, The Power Battles is in the tittle to this video. I didnt do it though.
DreamKing2 3 years ago
Because the quality of the sound, in comparition to the music in Power Fighters (Not 'Battles', check your post as well =P [PW: Take That!]) is considerabily lower to the other themes (such as PharaohMan's theme), making it sound just like it's from The Power Battle, not The Power Fighters. Thus, that is why I asked it.
LakeHikariAsakura 3 years ago
Sorry about the mistake.
Look I had no problem with your question, if I did I would have posted my comment in a mean way. I just simply told you why I think you got the thumbs down. Also the theme in the Battles is slightly different and higher pitch if you listen to it. But I could see where the mistake comes from.
