you have a crt tv which works differently to a lcd or plasma, hd is mainly made for 40 inch and above screens because a sd picture would look bad on a screen that size, i've seen 1080p plasma's and lcd's that look no better than my 32 inch crt, infact crt's still have the best contrast ratio.
unless you want a big screen tv my advice is to stick with a good quality crt tv.

Bluray movies have come down since HD DVD died. Also it's about how many pixels you can put on screen. Run a PC game in 800x600 and it looks like shit, but if you run it at your max monitor settings, it looks great. HD TV is just a higher resolution, usually running in progressive scan, even though most TV broadcasts are in 1080i. Hook up a game system to your monitor with a VGA cable, and you won't go back. Your TV looks like it only does 480p anyway.
Oh but i agree with you in the point that no one needs Blue Ray but an HD TV is no Rip Off, an SD TV is okay but on an HD TV the games look way better.

I completely disagree with your video. HD is not a rip off. Here in the UK I bought a 28" Sony 100hz widescreeen crt like 6 years ago for £750. Lately I bought a 1080p 40" Samsung HDTV LCD for £600. How is that a rip off. You get a much bigger screen and much better picture with the HDTV for less the price than crt. Plus no top manufacturers produces anymore sd crt. Keep up with the times.

full hd = 1920x1080, my res on my old crt 2048x1536 100hz, woopefreekin do....
they changed the name on it and covered up the res, sure 1080p sounds so awesome or full HD or half HD! woo, anyway tv signals normaly are just like 500x400 or something, and if u got tv trough firewire you can get like.. yea even if they up the sending res to possible 1920x1080 its still limited to the source of the video size, wich mostly is videos even then beside the odd view of flatscreen tv, i prefer 4:3..

They release DVDs, and then when you've got a collection of DVD disks, they release HD-DVD, meaning that you have to go out and buy a new collection all over again. 1 technology, but they sold it twice = Rip off.

Well my TV quit after 20 years of faithful service. I needed a new TV. Got my 19" widescreen for $100 because it was a display model. Works fine.
I also got a PS3, mostly for MGS4 but I can play Blu Ray. I don't care about the picture as much, I do like the seamless menus and extra crap I can look at while watching the film.
alright. if you dont like HD, then dont get it. HD looks much better than SD in my opinion. when i play games, its much easier on the eyes. alot of text in the menu of games and what not is kinda blurry on SD. its crystal clear in HD, the graphics arent better but just clearer and more colorful.

The past computers needed only like 4 mb of ram and 100 mb of HDD space. Now we need 1 Gb of ram and have over 1Tb of storage.
Over the years the amount of room needed expands, that is why we need "HD" & "Blu-Ray" to be able to hold our large quantity of data,
Download content is fine but until we all have blazing fast connection it not practical as having a hard copy of something and loads in a few secs-min.
Either way having HDTV is not really a debate here anymore, if you want a TV signal in America your gonna have to get a HDTV.
In other countries I dont know but, the amount of streamed data is much more on a HDTV then what a SDTV can pick up. Multiple sub-channels can be produced from a single channel and more coverage for a station as well as room.
More efficient, this is creating a path for the future to walk onto.

After watching my LCD tv,and then watching my other large standard def I noticed some drastic differences.The crispness off the picture,the color,and the blackness,shadow areas.The old tv when compared side by side shows some flatter colors,it is definately more blurred,and everytjing just does not look as defined.I have a total of 13 telvisions including a 36 inch sdtv,a 27 inch flat sdtv,and a 46 inch lcd....LCD is the best hands down.

I agree and I dont with you. I have played on a 40 inch 1080 at my friends and the diffrence is noticeable. But I agree it is alot of fuckin money, and im tried of these assholes saying your poor. That means I'm poor then because I cant get an HD. I personaly think it makes more sence to get the games first then upgrade later when it becomes cheaper.

Bluray movies have come down since HD DVD died. Also it's about how many pixels you can put on screen. Run a PC game in 800x600 and it looks like shit, but if you run it at your max monitor settings, it looks great. HD TV is just a higher resolution, usually running in progressive scan, even though most TV broadcasts are in 1080i. Hook up a game system to your monitor with a VGA cable, and you won't go back. Your TV looks like it only does 480p anyway.

I completely disagree with your video. HD is not a rip off. Here in the UK I bought a 28" Sony 100hz widescreeen crt like 6 years ago for £750. Lately I bought a 1080p 40" Samsung HDTV LCD for £600. How is that a rip off. You get a much bigger screen and much better picture with the HDTV for less the price than crt. Plus no top manufacturers produces anymore sd crt. Keep up with the times.

I dont understand. The picture should be better. Does your friend have hdmi connected? And sure if you connect BlueRay to SD tv you wont get Blueray quality... just dvd quality. I agree with you that normal viewing doent require hd quality. Normal news programs, shows etc. But movies, games (the things you really look long and intensive a 1080 or 780p is a prè)...

I thought the same thing but movies, games, and t(football) looks so good on a hd tv plus my tv has 2 HDMI ports compnet ports and ports for coax as well as a port for my computer! I know on the PS3 the diff is night and day, and blu ray is amazing and discs are getting cheaper its like 30 for brand new movie but i rent so yea, Buy HD totally better ounce you get a hd tv, after a week plug the old 100 pound box back in and if you say WTF was wrong with me all those years take the HD back

full hd = 1920x1080, my res on my old crt 2048x1536 100hz, woopefreekin do....
they changed the name on it and covered up the res, sure 1080p sounds so awesome or full HD or half HD! woo, anyway tv signals normaly are just like 500x400 or something, and if u got tv trough firewire you can get like.. yea even if they up the sending res to possible 1920x1080 its still limited to the source of the video size, wich mostly is videos even then beside the odd view of flatscreen tv, i prefer 4:3..

It IS a rip-off, but the media companies WIN, so we all have to put up with it. It's exactly the same as CD & DVD - it's the SAME laser technology, but if the manufacturers release one first, then release the other, the media companies, like the BBC can sell you 2 lots of disks. They release DVDs, and then when you've got a collection of DVD disks, they release HD-DVD, meaning that you have to go out and buy a new collection all over again. 1 technology, but they sold it twice = Rip off.

The quality of presentation in ANY next gen game is much better in HD. Fims like transformers are AMAZING in HD!
Eventually films will only come out on Blu Ray and there are many people (including me) who prefer tangible games and fims (boxed with inserts ect) over just a computer file!

Well my TV quit after 20 years of faithful service. I needed a new TV. Got my 19" widescreen for $100 because it was a display model. Works fine.
I also got a PS3, mostly for MGS4 but I can play Blu Ray. I don't care about the picture as much, I do like the seamless menus and extra crap I can look at while watching the film.

alright. if you dont like HD, then dont get it. HD looks much better than SD in my opinion. when i play games, its much easier on the eyes. alot of text in the menu of games and what not is kinda blurry on SD. its crystal clear in HD, the graphics arent better but just clearer and more colorful.

i play my games on my 13 inch sd tv. ya, i play old school. but i have to admit that i do think HD is better in games. i don't give a care about tv channels but in gaming, it does make a difference. but the tv needs to be at least 40" or bigger to notice a difference. but overall, it's not necessary unless your tv broke and you need a new one

Okay dude, I dunno if you read the manual that came with your Sony t.v. that is "hd" compatible, but I have a Sony 30" CRT hdtv which is capable of 1080i, now, what type of connectors do you use to hook your xbox 360 up to your sony with? I'll laugh my fucking ass off if they are component cables and you have been playing at 1080i the entire time. Other than that, your like an old man shaking his fist at the future. Hd will be needed in the future, for now not so much.
The past computers needed only like 4 mb of ram and 100 mb of HDD space. Now we need 1 Gb of ram and have over 1Tb of storage.
Over the years the amount of room needed expands, that is why we need "HD" & "Blu-Ray" to be able to hold our large quantity of data,
Download content is fine but until we all have blazing fast connection it not practical as having a hard copy of something and loads in a few secs-min.
People need to accept "Change".

Either way having HDTV is not really a debate here anymore, if you want a TV signal in America your gonna have to get a HDTV.
In other countries I dont know but, the amount of streamed data is much more on a HDTV then what a SDTV can pick up. Multiple sub-channels can be produced from a single channel and more coverage for a station as well as room.
More efficient, this is creating a path for the future to walk onto.

After watching my LCD tv,and then watching my other large standard def I noticed some drastic differences.The crispness off the picture,the color,and the blackness,shadow areas.The old tv when compared side by side shows some flatter colors,it is definately more blurred,and everytjing just does not look as defined.I have a total of 13 telvisions including a 36 inch sdtv,a 27 inch flat sdtv,and a 46 inch lcd....LCD is the best hands down.

I have a hdtv 1080p downstairs and i have a 10 year old 20 inch sdtv upstairs.
There is hardley a diffrence.
Blu-ray is the biggest rip-off ever. For example:
Halloween on DVD = £4
Halloween on blu-ray = £25
£21 for slightly better picture = no thanks.
Im sticking to SD and DVD.
