  • Im white and I find this funny... What? the blacks can say it but I cant? >: |

  • I'm black, but.... wait... no I'm not..

  • I didnt watch the entire thing but I never saw bugs react to the guy's blackness. I mean, is elmer some sort of insult against white people? Maybe the creators had bad intentions but today what I see is a not so smart fudd-like character (who is black) getting pranked by bugs.

  • I Found Earl Sweatshirt lol

  • Ohhh, a look into a GOP candidate's mind....

  • All races get ragged on.. ITS LIFE.. Everybody needs to quit being so senseitvie, and move on with life.. Thats what is wrong with this country now cant get out of the past...

  • Shendue, thank you for the back story on this. The only other similar Warner Bros cartoon I've seen was "Coal Black and de Sebbin Dwarves". I was told it was made for Black audiences in the segregated movie theatres of the south, and also as a slap at Disney, who Chuck Jones did not like. Possibly could this have been made for that market also? Walter Lantz, of Woody Woodpecker fame, made at least one very hateful cartoon that I feel was surely made for racist whites.

  • Back when this came out, NO ONE saw this as racist.

  • It's not funny how ignorant most white people are. Wake the fuck up and read a history book, or a popular culture book, or a mass media book. "The Emperors Old Clothes," by Ariel Dorfman can shed some light on the shadows and cobwebs in your brain. Idiotos....estupidos....concha tu madres! It is ignorant fucks like you that keep the US going down and down and down....enjoy your soon to be "underdeveloped" country, academically challenged folks.

  • I'm black, but I certainly don't have a chip on my shoulder. This was made in the 40s when racism was alive. Who cares about it being racist in 2011 going on 2012.

  • This is the exact same script as one w/ Elmer Fudd. I think it is a recent very well made fake. Notice the credits at the beginning? All unfamiliar names. His voice isn't right either. Chuck Jones did do a black satire of Snow White, with a very pretty Black main character. Except for a comical Prince Charming, it seemed sympathetically done to me.

  • @sammolloy1: Actually, the episode was re-made with Elmer Fudd as a form of censorship, so it's all the opposite way.

  • this is not even racist. I dont see why it can be shown on tv anymore. People make too big of deal out of everything. It would be racist not to have a black guy in loony tunes episodes. your basically ripping a page out of american pop-culture history by banning episodes like this.

  • Sadly, "Smart Round" buck shot never made it past the initial testing stages.

  • @E100Omega123

It's actually a PPC from MechAssault.

  • Two things I love about this video: How does changing Elmer fudd from black and stupid to white and stupid less racist? and I bet more white middle-class people are offended by this more than black people

  • 5:33 stereotypical angry black man. lol

  • This is racist but the Chapelle show got away with it.....lolz funny I guess.

  • i didn't find this funny at all, but it has nothing to do with racial stereotypes or anything along those lines, i've just seen bugs bunny cartoons that were way more entertaining than this particular episode

  • Not really that rascist is it? elmer Fudd wasan idiot and he was white, however they shouldn't have drawn his lips that big

  • Mr Popo from DbZ was black for a decade, til yesterday

  • So a cartoon that makes fun of black people and makes up racial stereotypes that are considered racist, while being racist isn't at all racist? Yeah thats great.

  • @Awrestling yea there are other races sterotyped, but blacks get it the worst. The only other race that gets as much crap are hispanics because they're seen as "not american". Should anyone feel sympathetic to Nazis? They pretty much get what they deserve because of their extremist views. They blindly hate races of people just because.

  • this is racist as shit but it's also funny. even if i were black i would laugh at this.

  • this is the most racist thing I've ever seen. I remember i watched this on vhs as a child and being too young to understand. Now looking back at this, this is extremely offense and ministrel-like in the sense of "look at the dumb black person". sad.

  • @acidsprinkle5950 people like you tend to live in the past... you should let it go, man... just chill out, its only a cartoon... also, don't you think the little black guy kinda looks like jay-z?

  • @Awrestling no I'm not going to let it go. It's just disturbing to me how people attempted to infiltrate society with blatant racism. The point was to use humor to make it seem OK. The "he looks like Jay-z" comment proves my point. It's hard to laugh at it when I'm older and see how offensive it is.

  • @acidsprinkle5950 come on, black people are not the only stereotypic race... there are jews, asians, mexicans, nazis(well jews and nazis are not really a race but a stereotype is what it is) so stop being so offensive... jeez

  • @acidsprinkle5950 You're absolutely right. All the episodes in the Censored Eleven, as well as the Anti-Japanese episodes during the 1940s, are absolutely despicable today.

But to say it is an attempt to 'infiltrate racism' is just wrong. Political correctness has changed greatly since the 1960s, and the archetypal 'Sambo' was used quite often in this era. Not because they had anti-black sentiments, but because it was already so ingrained in society that no one saw problems with it.

  • @akjk1212 I agree that other races were made fun of back then. The point of creating cartoons like this is in essence like minstrel show which advocate racism and white supremacy. The first movie played in the white house"Birth of a Nation" not only enforced every negative stereotype about African Americans including preying on white women to rape them, but made the KKK seem like heroes. And the sick part is all the government officials saw this as an honest depiction. So there was anti-black

  • @acidsprinkle5950 Anti-black sentiment was ingrained in society LONG before Birth of a Nation :P, but the message I'm trying to get across is that the animators didn't intend to make this cartoon to bash the race as a whole, (unlike the Japan episodes) but just to play stereotypes for laughs. If I'm not making sense...replace the black guy with a stereotypical Irishman or Native American, and you get the same ordeal. But unlike the Japan episodes, THE GOAL WASN'T TO INSULT BLACKS.

  • @akjk1212 this isn't offensive, but the Japanese episodes were? Stuff like this is obviously meant to offend the whole race because how many black people look and behave like that? This type of character is meant to insult because of the history behind the picture. Replacing the black guy with other races is still offensive because it depicts them in a negative light as well, even if it's just stereotypes. My point is anti-black sentiment was ingrained before this time period, but this was

  • @akjk1212 part 2 a way racism gets below the radar, instilling stereotypes that are grossly inaccurate due to lack of understanding the culture, and children would watch this and have no knowledge of what the stereotypes mean or have any objectivity towards the message and take it as being true.

  • @acidsprinkle5950 Yes, they did purposely attribute this character stereotypically black traits. But the goal of the animators was to make the audience laugh, not to say "Hey kids, hate black people!"

Can we stop using the same two points over and over again now?

  • @akjk1212"Can we stop using the same two points over and over again now?"-I just addressed your points so what else did you expect me to talk about? Didn't you want to address me? I keep using the same points because you don't seem to understand and I'm trying to make a connection here. Not only that you bypass the point and refuse to see what's in front of you. continued.

  • @akjk1212 part 2: case in point' Not because they had anti-black sentiments, but because it was already so ingrained in society that no one saw problems with it." Then in one of your recent posts"Anti-black sentiment was ingrained in society LONG before Birth of a Nation" wait didn't you say it WASN'T like that? Which is it? If you can't see why I take issue with cartoons like these you're missing the point. The only comparison you can come up with is anti-Japanese cartoons were worse.

  • @akjk1212 . My thing is things like this develop negative attitudes towards other races. Can I ask you to objectively look at this and tell me how is this different than Japanese cartoons? It's one and the same.

  • @akjk1212 part 2 sentiment ingrained in the fabric of society.

  • @acidsprinkle5950 as a black girl i understand how you feel. but bugs bunny makes all races seem dumb like Elmer Fudd. the only thing a hate about this cartoon is they think all black people have fat lips.

  • @Brendia18 I agree Elmer Fudd is an idiot(naturally) but he wasn't made as grotesquely abnormal-looking as the black character. This guy has an honorary "Jigabo" look.

  • ahhhhhhahahahhahahhahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahaha..........this is hilarious

  • The same gags and pranks as the ones with elmer fudd...its just he's in black face...its offensive in a kinda retro way but not something serious to argue about

  • Hah awesome cant make cartoons like this any more.

  • i bet mel gibson and fantasizes about being bugs bunny

  • I do remember seeing this as a kid and thinking "Black people don't really look like that!"

  • This is cringe-worthy.

  • This might be me being really stupid, but what is it about the dice that is racist?

    Genuine query.

  • @jessisginger lol i think it has to do with a stereotype that black people like to gamble :P so they were playing dice

  • Well, I know this cartoon has supposedly been banned since 1968, but I remember for a fact that I saw this cartoon on Cartoon Network's June Bugs marathon sometime in the '90s.

I saw it and I remembered saying "oh a new Looney Tunes episode, I've never seen this before!" It didn't seem racist to me at the time (but then again I was a lil kid, and kids are dumb)...and then I remembered never seeing it ever again.

I wonder if someone got fired for airing it o_O

  • I understand how this is very racist. but is it wrong of me to still laugh (not at the racism) at the stupid jokes, like when they run away from the bear. I look at that as classic humor, in a simpler racist time but still funny.

  • white people made these cartoons back then. They knew what they were doing

  • Fucking Kneegars sall i guna say

  • Why does he look that way? I'm of African descent and I don't look that way?

  • @ShavondaChambers504 I'm of Caucasian descent and I don't look like Elmer Fudd. What the fuck? Why do the cartoon makers LIE?!! Whyyyy-yyy-yy....

  • I dont see whats so wrong with it? i found it to be a normal bugs bunny cartoon.

  • I'm black & I found this funny. I don't live in the past!

  • @gjtrue exactly, who gives a shit! it's pretty damn funny no matter how you look at it

  • the dice game is pretty racist, but its still pretty tame by the spectrum of other banned shorts.

  • How is this any worst then the shit that's on TV today ?

  • lmao this was hilarious especially 5:00-5:14 xD the music playing during him running is amaazing!

  • While I do think that this cartoon is definitely racist, don't think that blacks were the only ones stereotyped in these cartoons. The Warner Brothers (who were Jews) made fun of EVERYBODY, including Jews, Blacks, Germans, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans. While they aren't politically correct, I don't get upset when I see the redneck cowboy Yosemite Sam, or the idiotic Elmer Fudd, even though they're both white. This was so long ago anyway it's stupid to even get mad about it now :P

  • I am white and i wish that all cartoons would depict black people as authentically as this cartoon did!

  • LOL!!!!!! Gosh people don't get your panties in a twist this is hilarious. I see nothing wrong with this at all.

  • Hmm... Looney Tunes was definitely a childhood favourite, but I'm sorry, this is too obvious to ignore. I mean, look at the way the hunter's drawn!

I'm gonna say that this is the only episode I have something against, but Looney Tunes is still a fave.

  • WATCHA GOT THERE MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

  • This was not that racist. Becuase that guy was actually smarter then Elmer fudd. And just because bugs outsmarted him doesn't make it racist either, bugs outsmarts everyone.

  • ITZ RASSIST COZ HES BLAK DUR DUR DUR

stfu and watch the damn cartoon

  • This cartoon was made over 60 years ago when racism was really high. Pleas shut up and enjoy the god damn cartoon. I don't care if its racist or not this is one of the best cartoons ever made! I wouldn't care if my favorite show was racist against white people, its a freaking CHILDERNS CARTOON!

  • What a ridiculous cartoon!.... a talking rabbit, what where they thinking? ;-)

  • This was racist to the core. Racism is the practice of discriminating people by the color of their skin in which the "superior" treats the "inferirior" with prejudice. At first it went into bigotry within seconds it change to a white rabbit superiority smart than a black man with big lips and a funny vocabulary with an inferior way to pronounce words like he retarded. At end the White rabbit not only won but stole his leaf. The end demo the worst bigotry of them all: Adam.

  • This was racist and anyone who disagrees is a racist.

  • @arkeem21 I had this on VHS when I was a kid in the 90's and I never saw this being racist... and I still don't. The colour of someone's skin doesn't matter.

  • @arkeem21 I had this on VHS when I was a kid in the 90's and I never saw this being racist... and I still don't. The colour of someone's skin doesn't matter.

  • I love how all you borderline retards made childs cartoon from over 50 years ago a racial thing. Please shut the fuck up and enjoy the cartoon.

  • @pimpninja1985 The people from 50 years ago made it a racial thing by drawing that ridiculous caricature of a black person. Don't blame us.

Also, there are World War 2 Looney Tunes cartoons that are BLATANTLY racist against Japanese. Would you tell a Japanese-American person today to "shut the fuck up and enjoy the cartoon"? The fact that it's a child's cartoon is irrelevant.

  • @lordguill And I'm sure that elmer fudd doesn't embody any stereotypes of white people. Nope, completely clean and perfect.

Uh, in war you demonize your enemy. Being racists against them don't matter.

  • @rujikin Fair enough.

  • @lordguill of course i would tell a Japanese to.

  • @pimpninja1985 Um it was 50 years ago. Racism was rampant 50 years ago. Odds are pretty good this was made with the intent of being racist. It's good to not pretend it never happened because those who forget history are doomed to repeat it and all that, but the cartoon IS racist. That's kind of the point.

  • @ZiMZiLLA You totally missed the point in my comment

  • Ok so if it were really stereotypical that leaf would have been HUGE! Haha jk

  • god this is funny, those lips are fucking huge

  • no doubt, racist. But I still love the classic Looney Tunes. There are several that are in good taste so I can simply ignore the ignorance of that time and watch the others.

  • No black man sounds like that.

Yes this is very Very racist.

  • @TheFamerville neither do white men sound like elmer fudd! sit your ass down.

  • @ILMBWAMH Well they're are obviously being racist. Have you ever seen Blackface performances.

That's what this is, just in cartoon form. Look it up, Please.

I'm not being a dick or a jerk, it might look like it because you can't hear me.

  • @TheFamerville alright, i watched the blackface performance you mentioned. THAT is VERY racist (my opinion). However when it comes to warner brothers, ALL ethnicities (minus the bunny) are portrayed as dumb. Just cuz one particular one offends you, does not make it racist. However, if the performances and this cartoon were made during the same time frame, then you may have a point. :)

  • @ILMBWAMH Thanks for understanding! : )

They were made very close in time.

  • I get that he's black and the features such as the thick lips are grossly exaggerated, but isn't that the point of a cartoon? Just as Yosemite Sam has a ridiculous moustache and always carries guns with him.

They are all stereotypes and are tongue in cheek, not to be taken seriously or maliciously.

  • say what you will about this cartoon, it does make me believe that black people are completely amazing at first aid.

  • something so infuritating about the sound of Bugs eating carrots.

  • Although I agree with Spinkletoe, I agree more with JoramFilms. Couldn't said it better.

  • its so racist , but sooooooooooooo funny....lol!!

  • My grandma has this on video, she bought it for me when I was 6, used to watch it all the time, but I never saw it as racist as a kid, haha.

  • @Glitchhog My mother also got it. Not this specific short, but a Merrie Melodies collection that included it. I guess because it was in Spanish, it wasn't that easily banned as in the US. I never saw it as racist either when younger (though it admittedly is!). In the end, racism is part of culture and nurturing. If you're taught to respect others, no matter the race, size, religion, preference, etc... you can poke fun at the silly stuff that could get past approval and into tv.

  • iam comment 666

  • lol, when this was released, the Holocaust was happening.

  • Lol, put your hands up or I'll blitzkrieg you and blow up a tree!

  • @1.54 Jesus walked on water but Bugs Bunny swam through land !

  • RIGHT ON, JudgeMagisterDelta. !!! This character was just basically replaced by WHITE Elmer Fudd. SO....I guess it is OK to make a white guy look like a fool. RACISM IN REVERSE??? Then on the other hand..This IS JUST A FUCKING CARTOON, so get over it for God's sake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • CRACKED

  • if this is racist for black peopkle then elmer fudd is racist for white people 666

  • Makes me ashamed to be a honky

  • Actually this is one of the Censored Eleven they were banned because of racism

  • As soon as I saw the guy, I thought "that's kinda racist". Then I heard his voice, and thought "Oh, dear lord". By the time the dice came out, my head was in my hands.

  • It's not racist to make a black person look/sound funny in a cartoon show which typically has characters in general that look/sound funny. Oh wait, it's not racist if you do the same exact thing to other races. Sorry, I forget.

  • You@signal mixer. Don't see 2 many people objecting about the portrayal of rednecks and other stereotypes on these cartoons. Maybe because there white and it just doesn't matter as much.

  • Not saying it;s not racist (because it is), however typically everyone, who tried catching Bugs Bunny were portrayed being retarded, including that "wacky wabbit" guy and Yosemite Sam, and that alien dude. In fact, in most episodes the tricks are the same, and enemies are always short, stupid and have a weird accent. As a kid I somehow managed to watch quite a bit of Looney Tunes moments that would be banned now, and I never projected those characters onto real people.

  • For everyone saying "what about negative stereotypes of white people" for every negative stereotype there will be tons more white people in the media shown in a normal or positive light. Not so much for minorities, and especially not at the time this cartoon was made.

  • @Spinkletoe I wish I could give this comment more than one thumb up

  • @Spinkletoe Where you able to understand this after you wrote it?

  • oh cracked..... lol

  • Other than the voice, big ears and lips (which are stereotypes but partly true) and the dice part (ok now it's racist) thi s isnt all bad

  • wow, this was just plain old racist...

  • This was pretty racist

  • This stuff was the good cartoons. As for it being racist... I don't see anything racist about it. Maybe a little bit because blacks are considered minorities but let's be honest. If I went through and looked at every show that portrayed a stupid white person there would be too many to choose from. So why is it that when someone portrays a stupid black person it's racist? I don't understand, fact is this is slightly racist but not racist enough to be excluded from air time. These old cartoons ha

  • So interesting to see all the other comments here on YouTube. It truly shows that CONTEXT is everything!

So many younger people (or those who have no idea about the actual history of racial tensions in the U.S.) proclaim "there's no racism".

I can't blame them, as in 2000-present the old racists symbols have changed.

The very fact that Ted Turner (owner of Cartoon Network) has publicly vowed to never air these episodes should be enough evidence that maybe something is a "little" off, LOL.

  • what is racist about the dice...

  • This was so funny, im 21 and i laughed really hard at the bullets forming a hand and hand brake and braking mid-air. Other than the voice there wasnt much that was really racist....then bugs pulled out the dice smh

  • ok this wasnt as racist as i thought but still kinda funny, not bad Cracked....

  • Comment removed

  • Why is this considered racist? Most Loony tunes characters are particularly idiotic. Sure he's drawn a bit funny, but Loony Tunes is a cartoon. If the drawings were realistic, it wouldn't be Loony Tunes now would it? People just over exaggerate when they see a black person portrait as stupid and scream "racism", when they don't even know what the word means. If anything, this is racial equality (A black version of Elmer Fudd)

  • @Urchino1337

Your ignorance baffels me.... Are you really so blind as to not see the racism in this video or are you just too young and ignorant to know what racism looks and sounds like? The character depicted in this short is not racist because of being duped by Bugs Bunny; that's expected. It's racist because Black People did NOT talk or sound like that, the "I'm retarded" look on his face, and his response to the dice. Elmer Fudd, at his worst, is just a hunter with a speach inpediment.

  • @ebb2k "Elmer Fudd, at his worst, is just a hunter with a speach inpediment." Quoted for truth

  • Cracked RULES!!! Not racism though.

  • Damn cracked!!

  • Comment removed

  • I knew Adam was black

  • I didnt see it as too offensive until they broke out the dice lmao

  • this shit aint funny at all

  • wowww...

  • am black, and i dont find it racist, jus quite stereotypical. the lips, man. those lips!lol. hes jus as dumb as elmer though! :)

  • @ILMBWAMH thank you! finally someone who doenst freak out about it!

  • I remember this! I had this on a VHS as a child!

  • Is this guy a precursor to Elmer Fudd then?

  • omg there was totally a vhs of this cartoon at my grandma's house i used to watch as a kid!

  • I kinda understand why his voice would be consider racist but i really dont find it offensive.

I actually laughed at this video. Not at the racism(cause really the racist jokes aren't that funny anyway) but at the overall whackyness.

  • @bossultamate good save there guy, people almost thought you were racist.

  • I kinda understand why his voice would be consider racist but i really dont find it offensive.

  • I did NOT expect his voice to be THAT horrid D:

  • i gota say im an african american male i must say this would hav probally ben a lot more empowering than offensiv bein ther werent alot a of blacks of tv and i must say durin this tim i wouldve felt a lil beter about my ppl to see them in a cartoon wit an icon lik bugs bunny win lose or draw cuz look at it lik thi fudds only beaten him three tims and 1 tim he took his idea

  • The Cartoons really not all that much racist until the ending. Its the ending that's the racist part.

  • I heard the censored 11 might all get released on DVD completely uncut.

  • I've seen this before and it had to be on tv. I specifically remember the "sucker" part unless there's another cartoon with that

  • I used to watch this cartoon as a kid, I liked the black guy. He is more likeable than Elmer Fudd

  • This isn't racist at all.

  • Tottaly had this episode as a kid made me lol when the nigger got fooled at dice

  • i swear i saw a video just like this before it had the some stuff and everything but it had elmer instead of this guy

  • Either they've don't that log bit in other cartoons or I remember seeing this when I was a kid. Of course, as a kid I don't remember getting the racist connection so maybe it isn't as harmful to kids as what we think it is. Maybe it's more how society treats people that are different.

Hey adults. Cartoons ain't real people.

  • @SimmeringPotpourri It hasn't been aired since the sixties, but almost all of the jokes in this one have been used in Elmer Fudd cartoons too

  • man, I bet those bullets were expensive.

  • I agree, he realized that he missed bugs bunny a lot faster than elmer fudd usually did. Not to mention, if elmer got a skunk by accident, he would have been too slow and been sprayed. Oh, and yes, cracked did send me.

  • Had south park beat by 70 years

  • I agree, he realized that he missed bugs bunny a lot faster than elmer fudd usually did. Oh, and yes, cracked did send me.

  • I agree, he realized that he missed bugs bunny a lot faster than elmer fudd usually did.

  • OMFG HAHAHA lol

  • This guy is smarter than Elmer Fudd.

  • Dat voice!!! D:

  • I think it's funny that when a cartoon accurately portrays a subculture it's considered racist.

Elmer Fudd's character isn't accused of racism, yet he represent the fat stuttering redneck hunter type. A lot of black people likes to play dice just like how white people likes to play boring ass darts or pool. Yet if we say something is a big part of black culture it's racism.

Racism is "I hate blacks" not "Certain black subcultures have their own lingo"

  • @iowaguitarshred

At a time when "Black America" was still fighting, and sometimes dying, for equality and civil rights, this sterotypical depiction of the "Black Man" was not only hurtful, but invited prejudice beliefs of the black people as a whole. That's why this was, and to many, still is, considered racist. If you can't understand that then I ask you to research Black History at the time before making comparisons to Elmer Fudd.

    IF YOU DON'T DISAGREE

PLEASE THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE THIS

  • @ebb2k QQ you whiny bitch

  • @xPoPo07x eat a d-ck b-tch n-gga

  • @ebb2k I know my black history very well, but I don't disagree with you. I can understand why a cartoon such as this is considered racist for the time it was released, and I apologize for that. However, when I hear people say the twins in transformers 2 or some other modern movie is racist I think is bullshit.

  • I wouldn't say this is racist but a stereotype of country blacks from the deep south. Sure, the lips are a little much but it's a stereotype just like they do for every other type of person. If I were Warner-Bros I'd be more inclined to ban it because it just isn't funny.

  • What was racist: His image.

His fixation with dice and gambling.

What wasn't racist: Everything else. It was just another Bugs Bunny cartoon.

  • It wouldn't be so bad if not for the way hes drawn. Its just a southern Elmer fudd. Plus the way they animate and the way cartoons in general are exaggerated so its not really the fact that this was the outcome its just the animators where racist enough at the time to not think drawing a black man in this style would be bad. Plus making him dim witted like Elmer fudd was just bad from the start........scratch that i just watched the dice part yea they lost me there, that's just plain racist.

  • I hated Elmer Fudd as a little kid and this is just black Elmer Fudd. What a crock of shit. How fucking disappointing.

  • this guy is just a black elmer fudd. what exactly is so offensive?

  • @techwiz81 Well the whole dice game obsession as it turns out used to be an old stereotype.

  • @techwiz81 umm... fucking everything lol?

  • @JoramFilms Those cartoons are made in modern times and are
