I thought this was well done! Nice camera work and there's nothing wrong with including the 'Gettysburg' score...It's an epic place that in itself. Nice work!
Thanks but I could do without the music. You are filming with a little video camera while on vacation. It's not like it's an epic you directed. Pure silence would be dramatic enough.
this is the first time ive seen this and im curious.. who owns this place? is it family ownd or does some company own it? if some one could tell me i would be greatful.
Is the Appomattox Court House the original building or has it been rebuilt? You hear about so many of these historic landmarks being burnt down and rebuilt again. Thank you.
Appomattox Court House is actually the name of the town itself. The house where the surrender was signed is the McClean House (named for its owner). After the war, the house was disassembled and moved on exhibit to Washington. Pieces of it gradually disappeared over the years--essentially nothing of it remains.
What you see today is a recreation of that house.
You hear so much about haunted New Orleans, Charlston, Savannah, and various battle fields. I have never heard anything about Appomatix and any "hauntings," but I get the most haunted, sad feeling when there. Email me at aol if anyone knows of any myths, legends or ideas on it.
Hey I work at the book store at the surrender grounds. Yes there are stories of hauntings and we have our myths. I have only been there working there 2 months but people that have been there longer have seen stuff.
Very well done, This is the way a video should be taken! I felt that I could feel the spirit of the place. Will be looking for your other videos also.
Outstanding!, you did a perfect job. i have shared this on my face book page

Thanks for the comments...it's been a while since I've posted this video, but if I recall correctly, the last clip is from "Gods and Generals".

It's Mac Lean, not Mac Clean.

@Helliconian: Actually, according to the National Park Service, it's none of the above. It's "McLean."
I had it as "McClean." I've since corrected it. Thanks.

There is a courthouse at Appomattox Court House. Like the McLean house its a reconstruction and serves as the Visitor's Center.

amazing to think my 5th great grandfather walked down that street and surrendered after 4 years of fighting

Excellent. I KNEW that music was familiar!
My wife and I included Appomattox as a stop on our wedding trip to VA.
What a spiritual place!
I'll check out your other videos, too!
