Am I the only one who loves the sound of the stock engine. I know there wasn't a lot of performance there but the sound is lovely and very much of its time (in a good way).
Man i wish i had a delorean here where i live there are only two in the damn state i even got to come across one that was parked outside of a bar....im planning on studying hard so when i get older and have enough cash, buy one.
DeLorean is such an amazing car and your camera work is really good. Usually I don't watch long driving videos from the beginning to the end, but I really enjoyed this.
Love the video man, I watch all the DeLorean videos on Youtube to keep me motivated to buy one! Hopefully I'll be joining you in the DeLorean Owners Association
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old PRV Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps EFi and tank clean and rustfree
Please remember that these cars are 30 years old as of 2011 so a stock DeLorean today isn't so impressive on paper, but euro spec and other mods can turn them into Golf GTI killers and even Porsche killers (performance wise, not handling) depending on how deep your pockets are... A stock car though is fine for daily road use...
@cpetitt9704 Yes, the original 2.85 PRV V6 albeit with a custom, free flowing exhaust. No, the original BTTF cars ran stock PRV engines with the sound of the modified Porsche 928 engine dubbed over the top. The BTTF III car with the 1955 wheels on had a custom chassis and a VW engine. The prototype DeLorean was mid-engined. The production cars were all rear engined.
I often park in malls. You only need around 11 inches to swing the door out and then you have more space than a conventional door as the gullwing is up and out of the way. Stainless steel is far touch that the thin stuff on 'normal' cars so it doesn't dent/mark as easily either.
The whole thing was shot with just one camcorder. At the point you mention I needed to move it back from the tripod to the car. Hence why I turned it off as it takes a good few minutes for setup.
wow dude! love your ride! i've sat in one before with the doors closed, and i thought that was awesome! I wonder what it feels like to ride in one or to DRIVE ONE!?
You are my hero! I have watched A LOT of driving videos on you tube. The video you have produced is by far the best i have ever scene. My father and I also own a DeLorean so I really, REALLY enjoyed it. My compliments to you sir.
Thanks, see the description to the right of the video under my profile for details. A similar video can be found of the FULL stainless steel replacement...

If you were at a mall and parked in between two cars, would you be able to open the doors without hitting them?
