my childhood memories brought me here. My dad would always play this cassette in the car on the way to the beach. I am 27 now and still digging this and now i play this while i have a beer with my dad.
@trampsgirl1 kids these days...bad enough you have crap music to listen to and you don't know the fabulous thunderbirds? Sheesh, next I suppose you'll say you never heard of Hasil Adkins.
I was twelve or thirteen when this video came out on MTV. It was my introduction to a certain practice that will remain unsaid. The Anne Bancroft look-a-like was/is my favorite. I'm now 37,a committed Staxified, Tele-Cropper Soul Man and I'm burnin.'
could this be anymore kitschy? lol this was so john waters for me , maybe we just needed a velvet painting of Elvis or like a big bowl of ambrosia salad and some leopard print in there
I was a show sometime back that the fact was that the bands rarely if ever dated the women and most times they were there on diffrent days and never even saw each other
Hey I didn't know the guy on those pizza boxes had a band.
Seriously though, these guys should have a lot more mainstream recognition than they do. They're awesome musicians and their music's really timeless. Kim Wilson's voice is great.
Saw them live when I was a kid (same line up as in the video). Unforgettable. Even if I have outgrown the music. I still have the piece of paper with their autographs somewhere, lol.
I'm sooo excited to go see Preston next weekend in St. Louis! My dad was a CBS exec, so we just re-united after about 20 yrs!Anyone in the area go see Prez at Hammerstones.
I thing it is interesting that just about all of the famous blues bands from the past 30 years have been white. Stevie Ray and Jimmie Vaughan grew up in Oak Cliff, which was once a predominantly black section of Dallas. Did that have anything to do with it?
Yes, of course. But the best blues or blues/rock American musicians came from the South, White and Black. Janis Joplin was from Texas, too. Mississippi was the mother lode, the Mississippi/Chicago bluesmen taught it to the world, and the rest is history. I have a pet theory that the best British rock bands started by imitating Delta/Chicago blues until they found their own voices. (so to speak) What do you think?
Yeah. As for the Stones, my sole complaint is not that they "stole" anything, but that they aren't great musicians. Acknowledging the Delta/Chicago bluesmen who inspired him isn't theft, nor is the the demand made on their first US tour. Sorry, Mick, you can't fill Howlin' Wolf's size 13
Listen to the lyrics. "put your loving in my box" They are singing about a womans' love. It isn't hard to understand. Check out the original version by "Sam and Dave". This video however has better audio, so "wrap it up, I'll take it" Hope this explanation helped you
