  • Love you Dame Eva! So wonderful you lived till 101!

    BRAVA!

  • what a marvelous interview , not only a direct link to the very first performances of this great opera , but such humility from a great singer !!

  • @DoktorNgKepiyas

I believe the interviewer may be the young Robert Lloyd - a great British singer.

  • She was my voice teacher's teacher. And explained to her how many singers rely on the bloom of youth and not technique which I find upsetting cause it's so true.

  • A true lady, humble, inspiring and what a wonderful singer. A wonderful post!

  • I sat next to her at a Tosca Performance at English National Opera. She was a delightful lady.

  • my brush with greatness was when I held a door open for her at Covent Garden once ...

  • It certainly warms the heart to have some evidence, however brief, that there were humble, noble, inspired singers who did it all just for the love of it.

  • @sillyboydeux

Agreed! It seems she had this effect upon all of us.

  • I knew Dame Eva and to see this is so wonderful. She was a great Lady. I loved her stories. Firesong75, she said when she went to the Univ.OK the newspaper read,Eva Turner, "Visiting Professor of Vice".LOL she got a kick out of that.

  • I would love to hear the full interview...Do you know where it's available???

  • i doubt it is possible for anyone ever to be more charming and adorable than dame eva in this interview, so humble and classy

  • @SiEtIn1

Oh I SO agree with you! I've just stumbled upon this, and am absolutely blown away by her pure charm, modesty and bright personality - what a lovely lady!!

  • Well I shall ad another Turandot to my list.

  • I am so happy that I found Dame Eva Turner on YouTube!Amazing singer!!!!!

  • I love how she talks!! She is just so cute

  • I knew Dame Eva at the University of Oklahoma 1950 when she was Visiting Professor of Voice, and I accompanied her voice students. She was dynamic and demanding, a marvelous lady, always grateful for the smallest courtesy. What a privilege to have known her.

  • I think she was 90+ at this interview. Excellent memory, totally lucid, and a lovely person. Who didn't know her, go to the video called "Eva Turner - The Definitive Turandot" where she sings "In questa reggia", totally amazing. One of the best Turandot I ever seen.

  • My father sent me an e mail saying he met her on a boat from Singapore in 1953 and had dinner with her in Le Havre. He was unaware of who she was except she she said she was an opera singer. Litle did he realise her stature in the opera world

  • Hey...hoplite46... I know that guy! and that email! ; )

    xoxo- B
