hello greetings, buy HP Pavilion g4, pre-installed Windows 7 Starter, which is too simple, and look for a cereal and I could upgrade to ultimate, one day I found a system called windows8 download and install it, but it is in English, which do not quite understand and are not registered and I can not install the updates, so I can not switch to Spanish and try to restore the factory system, but disappeared recovery Manager, please re-install and recovery Manager?
I have it for a long time. Its a bit hot. But never had problems even in summer on 40 degress and i dont turn it off for a days ... caying it to school and everywhere. only battery is a bit issue , no lont time work on battery but all others is perfect.

same happent with me, wifi dont work (rarely) i use now wlan usb adapter. and that lights turn up for 5 sec and shut down thing. i remeoved laptop motherboard and then heated it with hairdryer like 10minutes and now my laptop works again :D. but i have other problems like if i install windows 7 then blue screen pops up sometimes. This laptop is PIECE OF SHIT =)

i hate when people speak about micros n they dont know nothing about it. yeah intel is great, amd is bad. jajajajajajajajaj.first amd have better tech n design, use ht 32 bit, full duplex n speed. package system is s o i. ur intel is only 20 bit maximun, half duplex n speed use old n cheap package system. also use more power n heat much for that. also the intel drivers sucks.

I LOVED this laptop when it WORKED!!!! but 1st i lost the wi-fi( like everyone) then when i would try to turn it on and the lights would light up for like 5 secs then it would shut down(like 1600+ other people) now it will turn on but there will be nothing on the screen. there is a petion online to get reimburst for our laptops there are over 1600 signatures on it but HP fails to reconize it is there mothereboard, nuvida, and the laptop overheating. DO NOT GET THIS LAPTOP

The tx1000 series is not reliable. Google "TX1000 Nvidia" and you'll find loads of links to unhappy users who's laptops have failed at approx 16 months, and then been given woeful support by HP (even though it's the same fault as on the DV6000 series which they are fixing).
In short, if you need a small laptop, you might be better off with a netbook. The touchscreen isn't really that good on this model anyway.
As HP have had such 'great' customer service I'm avoiding them in future.

This laptop was a rip off, some says that it was a mayor fraud in HP and that the HP people new about this but they decided to be quiet so they keept this as a secret, hiding information so they could avoit lawsuits.
The Nvidia people knew about this also but they decided to go against HP suing them for hiding info and for the damaged cause to their name and product.

i have it too, the touch screen is not very convenient to use tho, its cool and all, but not really usefull.. its good for schooling but if u want the pc for gaming then u should concider another pc..

The touch screen should work... you have to have a stylus though, or use the tip of your finger. As for your photos, Your computer should have come with basic Windows editing, but mine also came with Painter IX.
i have this laptop and its pretty cool but the touch screen doesnt work good with fingers and the webcam i saw somewhere had lots of stuff to do with the vids and pics and it doesnt do that soo booo but its an ok laptop

i bought this laptop 11 months ago. First the sd card slot decided to break. My sd card wouldn't click so i had to either hold in the card or use a cord. And then just recently it wouldn't turn back on. All of the lights would come on but the screen would just stay black. Talked to a guy at HP and they said it's common for this model -_-. So thank god I still had a month left on the warranty. Sent it in and just just got it back (no more than a week later) and everything seems to be fixed.
i wish i could help, but they fixed mine for free since it was under warranty. i'm sure you could talk to somebody that works for HP and they could give you an estimate or something of you tell them the problem.

Most users who have this laptop have mobo problems right out of the warranty period so we are de screwed.
HP provides all expenses paid repairs on mobo BIOS problems and takes about 10 days to get it fixed from the time it leaves the house and back for shipment. I agree that I wouldn't buy HP ever again, but don't fucking spread garbage information allover the web assole!
I wouldn't, save your money and buy something else. While this one was in the shop once I bought a Acer loaner laptop the Extensa 5630z. Cheap, simple and quite powerful for the price you pay, it's nothing to look at, and it's quite mediocre but I'd take it over this anyday.
Worst computer in the world. The screen is terrible on the eyes, it looks like someone put a dotted sticker foil over the screen... it always looks smudged. It's slow, takes ages to boot up and is REALLY noisy and runs REALLY hot. I can't believe I made it through my first year of uni with that machine! Ugh.
I own two. Bought them new for my biz when they came out. they both overheat and shut down at temps of 200F+. Design flaw. Case is too close to the processor to allow for breathing room.

but the webcam deosnt pik up sound and if u pause the webcam while making a video it cuts off the last 5 secs of your video so they cant here u saying goodbye...
Been using this for a year and must say it is the best in its line. One little problem is overheating but i guess heating and AMD go hand in hand. Overall 7/10

Don't buy this I was out to get the computer of my dreams. I put in the 2.3ghz processor 4 gigs of ram vista ultimate a 250gig HDD in here like $2700 and I was so disappointed it sucked. So now I use a macbook pro on a daily basis.
Okay here is what i think about my laptop tx2000 after i bought it when i watched all the tx series youtube movies and reviews on the internet. Good thing: touch screen- do watever you wanted, internet card- fast with bluetooth price- fair enough for a touch screen screen- you can fold it, turn it around, or write ur lectures! style- you friends, collage, school-mates will get jealous! Bad things: battery sucks. SLOW Screen reflects lights! GETS EXtremely hot!- not recommended in hot places
It is amazing how so many people have differing opinions of this laptop. I have it and have sold 3 others. They all love them, everything works as advertised, the speed is good, no problem with CD drive or fan staying on. No problem with touch screen. I don't understand why others don't like it, I love it, even with Vista. It has 2gb RAM and that is enough for Vista on this machine. Could it be user problems?

I absolutely hate this laptop. I had to call tech support which took me a whopping 5 hours, Vista is really slow and this laptop just gave me a headache. I am so relieved that I sold it. I will never go back to HP again.

Well I guess the speed of the computer will depend heavily on what OS you use... Well for me, I just don't like vista for the number one reason being its slowness. Since I can't really run MAC OS on a non-mac hardware, I normally run Linux on my laptop. The newest version which is called Ubuntu is quite user friendly with its cool graphical desktop applications. And the best thing about it, is it's ten times faster than windows. I guess running linux on this piece of HP will make it faster.
I also have this laptop and in my opinion is great. I bought the full version and it came with technology I didn`t even knew it existed like the voice command and the finderpritn sensor =S. The touch screen is not a sensible as I would like but you get use to it really quickly. And for you elrohir02, not all versions come with touchscreen, check again and see if yours does.

The 1 hr 45 min battery is based on THEIR battery test, which drains the battery down quickly. On regular usage, the battery should last much longer than 1 hr 45 min, likely around 2 hrs 30 minutes if you're just web surfing.
I was thinking on buying one of these, but it all comes down to how sensitive the screen is. It's supposed to be adjustable, but how sensitive is it compared to, maybe a Nintendo DS?
I got that laptop for christmas and I am very happy with it. Comparing it to a nintendo ds isnt hard. You have to put a little pressure on the touch screen because it has a screen protector. It is much easier to touch a nintendo ds screen but I much prefer having that laptop.
Its not like you can profesionally draw, but you can do doodles or descent drawings, The problem here is the display, it haves little dots you can notice... THEY ARE KILLING ME ARGH! After that the laptop its just perfect.
The most important/essential feature about portable devices excluding what extra cool features it has, it is the battery power; how long can it stay before you can recharge it. If that feature sucks, then the whole portable device sucks and not worth buying.
The screen resolution it is good but not that far. The size (12.1") is very good to me.
You have to tilt the screen several times to get the view you want.
Btw, the tablet I wanted is called "Active digitizer", it means that the pen is powered by battery and it has a "Wacom" tablet features, such as pressure and angle sensitive. But this HP is called "Passive digitizer", it means no power in the pen.
I bout one yesterday and it has a very very bad sensitive touch screen. Thats mean you have to press HARD with your stylus pen to make your writing or drawings.
I was amazed at the show room for its size, processor, HD, and camera.
But what I was really looking for is a tablet that replaces my paper and pen, so I can do my drawings easly with photoshop or other software.

Try installing the controller, hope it doesnt cause you the same error that caused me. I had to recover from a recovery point and I dont know why the webcam started working.
WTF they talking about battery only lasts 1 hour and 45 mins, I got one and the 4 cell lasts about 2:30 hours to 3 hours depending on what im dpiong and i usualy get about 4 and a half out of the 6 cell
yes you can drag items with your finger or stylus, yes you can click, double click and right click, the touchscreen capability works anytime, no matter what orientation you are using
i reeeeaally like the fact that you have this touchscreen and a pen for it, and that you can flip over the screen almost anyway you like and use for drawing for example, but from other videos Ive seen it has to long lag time :(

My tx1000 died after 11 months. First the wireless card disapeared (didn't show up in the device manager). After that it just stopped working.
Problem is a faulty motherboard. A problem with the 6150 GO GPU and nvidia chipset.
Worst part is that HP completely ignrored all of their customers who had the problem.
Just Google: hp wireless disappeared

i have this laptop and its pretty cool but the touch screen doesnt work good with fingers and the webcam i saw somewhere had lots of stuff to do with the vids and pics and it doesnt do that soo booo but its an ok laptop

1855 bucks?! wth i bought that laptop for 850 1k less in offcie depot but anyway dont buy it sucks all the hp pavilion tx series notebooks have the same problem with the wireless card, it just dies!!!!! and gues what there is not solution for it as i have try to fix it for about 5 months ago and still cant find a solution not even with the hp support web site, so dont waste ur money with this computer i know it looks really cool but sont buy it! it has to many problems specially w the wifi

i bought this laptop 11 months ago. First the sd card slot decided to break. My sd card wouldn't click so i had to either hold in the card or use a cord. And then just recently it wouldn't turn back on. All of the lights would come on but the screen would just stay black. Talked to a guy at HP and they said it's common for this model -_-. So thank god I still had a month left on the warranty. Sent it in and just just got it back (no more than a week later) and everything seems to be fixed.

i wish i could help, but they fixed mine for free since it was under warranty. i'm sure you could talk to somebody that works for HP and they could give you an estimate or something of you tell them the problem.

This laptop will most likely die. Mine has and a lot of others too. If you want a 1000 dollar vegetable of a laptop after a year then buy this or else stay away from HP.
Most users who have this laptop have mobo problems right out of the warranty period so we are de screwed.

HP provides all expenses paid repairs on mobo BIOS problems and takes about 10 days to get it fixed from the time it leaves the house and back for shipment. I agree that I wouldn't buy HP ever again, but don't fucking spread garbage information allover the web assole!

I wouldn't, save your money and buy something else. While this one was in the shop once I bought a Acer loaner laptop the Extensa 5630z. Cheap, simple and quite powerful for the price you pay, it's nothing to look at, and it's quite mediocre but I'd take it over this anyday.

Worst computer in the world. The screen is terrible on the eyes, it looks like someone put a dotted sticker foil over the screen... it always looks smudged. It's slow, takes ages to boot up and is REALLY noisy and runs REALLY hot. I can't believe I made it through my first year of uni with that machine! Ugh.

I own two. Bought them new for my biz when they came out. they both overheat and shut down at temps of 200F+. Design flaw. Case is too close to the processor to allow for breathing room.

but the webcam deosnt pik up sound and if u pause the webcam while making a video it cuts off the last 5 secs of your video so they cant here u saying goodbye...

Don't buy this I was out to get the computer of my dreams. I put in the 2.3ghz processor 4 gigs of ram vista ultimate a 250gig HDD in here like $2700 and I was so disappointed it sucked. So now I use a macbook pro on a daily basis.

It is amazing how so many people have differing opinions of this laptop. I have it and have sold 3 others. They all love them, everything works as advertised, the speed is good, no problem with CD drive or fan staying on. No problem with touch screen. I don't understand why others don't like it, I love it, even with Vista. It has 2gb RAM and that is enough for Vista on this machine. Could it be user problems?

there is configurations and so forth.
such as, tweaking around with it.. u cant do that with windows.. on the other hand, this hasnt been proven, since i only heard it..ill do some search, btw thanks it seems that the OS has an effect on the speed.. but ill stick to XP, btw u can delete Vista and put windows right?

I absolutely hate this laptop. I had to call tech support which took me a whopping 5 hours, Vista is really slow and this laptop just gave me a headache. I am so relieved that I sold it. I will never go back to HP again.

Well I guess the speed of the computer will depend heavily on what OS you use... Well for me, I just don't like vista for the number one reason being its slowness. Since I can't really run MAC OS on a non-mac hardware, I normally run Linux on my laptop. The newest version which is called Ubuntu is quite user friendly with its cool graphical desktop applications. And the best thing about it, is it's ten times faster than windows. I guess running linux on this piece of HP will make it faster.

I also have this laptop and in my opinion is great. I bought the full version and it came with technology I didn`t even knew it existed like the voice command and the finderpritn sensor =S. The touch screen is not a sensible as I would like but you get use to it really quickly. And for you elrohir02, not all versions come with touchscreen, check again and see if yours does.

The 1 hr 45 min battery is based on THEIR battery test, which drains the battery down quickly. On regular usage, the battery should last much longer than 1 hr 45 min, likely around 2 hrs 30 minutes if you're just web surfing.
I was thinking on buying one of these, but it all comes down to how sensitive the screen is. It's supposed to be adjustable, but how sensitive is it compared to, maybe a Nintendo DS?

I got that laptop for christmas and I am very happy with it. Comparing it to a nintendo ds isnt hard. You have to put a little pressure on the touch screen because it has a screen protector. It is much easier to touch a nintendo ds screen but I much prefer having that laptop.

Its not like you can profesionally draw, but you can do doodles or descent drawings, The problem here is the display, it haves little dots you can notice... THEY ARE KILLING ME ARGH! After that the laptop its just perfect.

The most important/essential feature about portable devices excluding what extra cool features it has, it is the battery power; how long can it stay before you can recharge it. If that feature sucks, then the whole portable device sucks and not worth buying.

The screen resolution it is good but not that far. The size (12.1") is very good to me.
You have to tilt the screen several times to get the view you want.
Btw, the tablet I wanted is called "Active digitizer", it means that the pen is powered by battery and it has a "Wacom" tablet features, such as pressure and angle sensitive. But this HP is called "Passive digitizer", it means no power in the pen.

I don't recommend this tablet pc.
I bout one yesterday and it has a very very bad sensitive touch screen. Thats mean you have to press HARD with your stylus pen to make your writing or drawings.
I was amazed at the show room for its size, processor, HD, and camera.
But what I was really looking for is a tablet that replaces my paper and pen, so I can do my drawings easly with photoshop or other software.

My 4 cell lasted about 2 hours and 45 mins while watching nemo on a plane
The glare was a bit anoying so i bought one of those no glare screen protectors from ebay and it works great and still has the touch screen capable.
I love this laptop, mine is the 2.2 4gb and i can run most anything, even got oblivion to run on low graphics

i reeeeaally like the fact that you have this touchscreen and a pen for it, and that you can flip over the screen almost anyway you like and use for drawing for example, but from other videos Ive seen it has to long lag time :(

Umm touchscreen does not really respond that well because you need to give it a hard pressure or something that is pointy such as your finger nail.
I suggest that you use the stylus that is already included, and get a screen protector as mines is showing some details of scratching.
