  • when become adult i'mgoing to start a railroad & buy old steam locomotives restore them to working order .

  • just stumbled across this train footage we were there in williams 20 yrs ago is this the same train because we just loved the experience and still talk about it today 20 years later , david from australia

  • what is the name of the song in the begining

  • @MT44349 "Long Train A Runnin" by the Doobie Brothers.

  • Man they had that poor little 2-8-0 on full tilt, surprised the side rods didn't fly off LOL

  • Love this video. 29 was my favorite of the 3 steam locomotives that ran.

As a side note, was that your live steam operation that Coconino County was trying to shut down?

  • @rh36019 No... that was Robbie Diehl... No Relation, and the only Diehl I've ever met NOT related to me.

  • That was rude of the conductor to say " get a hobby "

  • @xxxDeath9572xxx You'll have to realize, that the fireman who yelled that out, was a coworker at the GCRY at the time with me, and himself is a railfan... it's all friendly sarcasm at friends...

  • Ah, haha. I wasn't sure if he was being serious.

  • Engine 4960 ran this past weekend using waste vegetable oil instead of diesel, and it ran great! I have a video on my channel from Saturday night's "Photography Run", and as soon as I get a new Firewire cable, I'll be getting an even better video of Sunday night's runby.

It ran great over the weekend, and don't be surprised if 29 is converted to vegetable oil for next year as well. You'll probably see steam quite a bit next summer. Not full-time, but it will be there.

  • its too bad that they aren't having steam anymore.

  • i was there that day i was in my hotel u know the gc hotel in williams and i heard whistles so i went to the depot and i saw #29 there getten ready to leave it was on april 11th

  • talk about assholes .... for ending steam......."too bad on the environment" wow get a friggin life.....that ridership will go even more to hell

  • I was there on a sunday in may, 2009. It would have been my first ride behind a steamer!

  • Shame on them ditching the steamers. You just dont see them screaming by anymore like you do in this vid

  • Its sucks that they ended steam on the GCR, and engine 29 was fully restored not too long ago.

  • At least she isn't rusting away or anything.

  • I cant believe they stopped running steam!!! Hopefully the 29 and 4960 will find new and better homes.

  • Sadly their staying on the GCRY.

At least the GCR is steaming up 4960 this september for their 20th B-Day and plan to use them on special occasions.

Maybe someday they'll return to regular service.

  • Awesome video! Thank you so much for putting this together. 29 looks & sounds great as usual -- too bad I have to miss her birthday coming up. Thanks again for your time, detail, having a great job... and for posting this!

  • Awsome.

  • Yes, I believe that this is the one that used to be on 4960 (at least in 2006). I've been getting different answers from different people here...

  • Great memories....Is this commercial or just for tourists?

  • The Railroad is for tourists... the train you see in the video was just a test train to make sure everything works properly.

  • SAWEEEEEEEEEEET!

  • man that is an awesome whistle!!! great video. 5 stars
