can anyone tell me if these are to be sold anywhere yet saw these over a year or two ago and as far as i was aware they never finished so i stuck with flowtoys
It looks like he's tossing back and forth on opposite surfaces of the hands, are there any counterweights or anything for tosses? I love me some tosses :D
you can get lights like these or better ones at orbitlightshow com. they have a november promotion right now that gives a upgrade to maxlights when buying a glove set. which is like a 30$ upgrade. also they feature the constant on inovas that dont shut off after 4 min, in high powered mode.
when there be sure to use the code " plur4ever " to recieve 5%off plus a free gift. the money (5%) will go to me which im trying to use to get turntables for djing hard trance and other forms of EDM
@spinthadank I spent 6-7 years developing the technology in my spare time. Most of the technology we use now wasn't available back then. Fair play to them though for making swift progress. If their toys are better and half the price then why not go and buy some instead of rubbishing the achievements of the rest of us? For the record, we're building a batch of 50 pairs right now, so we'll soon start to live up to the demand at last.
Haha....well that's not what they told me??? Have you talked to them at all?? They said they would work with 2 AAAs, and the new versions would have an extra option for on the fly changes to a freshly stocked library of sick modes that can all have frequency modulation! Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me... They also told me that the new versions being manufactured by their sponsor would be more affordable than they are right now witch is less than half of what your asking for!!!!
it said on the website something about upgrading the software for life? if you can upgrade the firmware yourself when you buy them then how does it connect to the computer? I was guessing mini usb or something?
@024TeK ...and you can get glow poi over here for the same sort of price. Hyperlights aren't just Led Glow Poi though; they're the world's brightest, most flexible and programmable poi :-)
Dude, can't tell you how amazing and awesome these look. Honestly, I probably wouldn't buy them because of the price tag. Your market would probably be world class / professional poi artists, not us regular folk. 500.00 is more than I make in two weeks, so I will have to pass, but good luck mate! Rock the poi!
Dude, can't tell you how amazing and awesome these look. Honestly, I probably wouldn't buy them because of the price tag. as much as i wanna say its worth the money it isn't you can but indestructable sets for 100 dollars that are hard and can do all of that as far as programming goes its still just led lights inside of them now matter how you put it and there is only so many combination's worth programming and you better be better than flowlights with their warranty of a lifetime to sum up everything... good idea but too much work you will not get eough buisness to keep your buisness up and running if you do it
@megaman92922: They're not just LED lights though. Hyperlights are considerably brighter than traditional glow poi. There's an infinite number of patterns available and part of the Hyperlight ethos is that they will be freely available on the website. Hyperlights have a very different look to Flowlights (which for the record I actually think are excellent poi!) and the price point puts them in a different segment of the market. Whether we succeed or not remains to be seen :-)
@hyperlight I can vouch for Hyperlight megaman92922. I use Flowtoys mainly and saw Concentrate poi and Hyperlights in the flesh at Southern Lights festival this year, and was blown away by the Hyperlights. They are INCREDIBLY bright and the effects/accelerometer functions are outstanding! A bit expensive for my means, but they say you get what you pay for, and they are worth it if you can afford it :)
concentrate poi better than hyperlights, your having a laugh jannafuentes. And as for price well four years plus of jons life have gone into these to bring you the best poi on planet earth and all you fuckers do is moan. Cant afford hyperlights . . . get a job nuff said
@stebod lol even with a job who the fuck would pay 500$? thats outrageous look at flowlights sick poi for a fraction of the cost and reliable. I think for 500$ i should be getting a whole lot more than just some poi.
@FoRealJuggalos you do get a whole lot more than 'just some poi'; you get the world's brightest, programmable and upgradable poi! For the record, we've sold 8 and have another batch of 50 ...and most of those are already spoken for!
@hyperlight granted that maybe true but what about us common poi people, there is no way i can afford spend $500 on these but i so desperatly want them
... 500? really??? i have concentrate poi that look as good if not better than these and they cost like a quarter that much... and thats still waaay too much for a few components i can solder together in an afternoon ... they do look nice though.
@jennafuentes if you believe that then you've definitely not seen Hyperlights live. My toys are significantly brighter, can be reprogrammed an unlimited number of times to do absolutely any sequence of colours. You might be able to hack something together in an afternoon but it won't be in the same league as these toys either in terms of quality or reliability. I welcome the competition though - go ahead and have a go and post your results as a video response :)
I like how this vid (made in '06) says "18 months into devlopment, and the wait is almost over" ..... here we are 37 months after that statement was made. Quit teasing us!!!
That seems advanced so I understand the pricetag. =] Although I don't think I'll have enough cash for them even after I have learned Poi and have a better job. =/ Amazing poi though and you had a great preformance! =]
i think you should look into your cost dude, my friend who started making leds microlights a few years back just started makin hyperlights for poist, do you wanna know how much they cost to make em, well i wont tell you, but he sold em for $120 a pair (customized), $500 better be for some transformers hyperlights that can clean your room during the day! im sorry if i dont support your price, they look nice, but i wouldnt buy em at that price!
dam your chargin 500? if u wanna sell these to anyone whos not a millionare or a complete idiot ur gonna have to lower the price bro
yeah u wanna make profit and u probably spent some money on them but come on u can sell these for around 100 and still make ur money without being to greedy
because i know for a fact ud have more luck selling 5 of these for 100 each instead of 500 a pair.
they are really cool and w/e choice u make on them i wish u luck.
You're absolutely right, I'd sell more if I could sell them for £100 a pair. It's not greed which makes that price so high, it's simple maths. If we sold them for £100 a pair we'd make a loss on every pair.
If we had the capital and the means we could drop the price a _bit_ but unfortunately, we don't have enough of either.
have you tried talking to companies with a lot larger cliental base like home of poi or flowtoys? they could get it cheep production and good quality because of supply and demand.
parts and labor to make one (im pretty sure) doesn't cost $500. Now yes maybe all the production time, development, and money spent on prototypes... yes $500 sounds good... if your going to sell 5 pairs. but if you sell lets say 600 pairs for $100 then you get more of a profit gain.
These toys contain a sophisticated combination of electronics, physical design and software which justifies the price tag. If you saw them in person, you might change your mind I think :-)
Spinners arn't rich, you know. Most of us work full time, and can't take on a second job (spinning is time-intensive, you know). We have to pay our bills just like everyone else (and for must of us, said bills include large quantities of controlled substances).
No matter how many features you pack into a glow poi, it's still a damned glow poi. They retail for around $40 USD a set. Not about to pay over $400 for programmable poi.
It's a lot of money I know, but we're a two-man team with limited resources and we don't have the capital or the confidence to make them in large enough quantities to be able to push the unit price down. If we could make them cheaper, we would...
I could prob make them for under 100$ unless you had to buy stupid amount of materials to get a half decent price .... they look cool and make me want to make something like it for sock poi thou makes it so I can atleast use it outside at night or something cool idea price is expencive :(
Unless you were making batches of upwards of 10000 I think you'll find you'd struggle to get the price anywhere near that low ...but by all means give it a go ;-)
I suspect you'd change your mind to some extent if you saw them live. They're not "just programmable poi", they're by a wide margin, the brightest poi available and with the range of colours they can produce, a visual treat. Not to mention the fact they're also a joy to spin :-)
Yes it is. Black stripes work very well to make it look like many-sectioned poi. Personally I prefer the light-sabery effect of standard white socks :-)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
bitch ass nigah. you should hurry up with ya shit and start sellin these already. ive been waiting FOREVER and its killing me not to have them. so please, HURRY THE SHIT UP.
i got bored and couldn't do poi so i did chain dancing it's fun just ge a chain and move your entire forearm to the beat fingers wrists palms everything it's fun
buy some sock poi clear or white your choice buy a UV reactive circle cut out thebottom of the sock poi. grab a microlight or something of the sort like a fake candle light attach a quick clip ring to the base of it ( the UV reactive part)attach the microligt or glowstick to it by turning the sock poi inside out and attaching it then your done he just made a custom flat cicle conecept at the botton with protective rubber/ foam for durablility. Its easy
If you're saying they're lights in socks, you're absolutely right... but the brightness and the range of colours they can produce are something _very_ special.
You're wrong, at no point have I lied. I've been wrong in my estimations of when I'd hoped to release them, but I've always been up front about delays etc. it's still my intention to launch these toys. Unfortunately, I'm not superhuman; I have a full time job and require sleep and a social life now and again.
Right now we're waiting for a CNC machine to be delivered at the moment, but when that arrives we'll get the housings sorted and be a lot closer to a finished product.
can anyone tell me if these are to be sold anywhere yet saw these over a year or two ago and as far as i was aware they never finished so i stuck with flowtoys

Are they rechargable?
Can the led sections be easily replaced?
Is it possible to eliminate the flicker of the leds?
d3dreaper 2 years ago
They run on 2xAAA batteries in each poi so yes, they're rechargeable.
The LED sections can be removed from the socks if that's what you mean?

VegetableGyoza 2 years ago
Yes it is. Black stripes work very well to make it look like many-sectioned poi. Personally I prefer the light-sabery effect of standard white socks :-)

Zacdunn2022 2 years ago
Nope, we're still working on them. The day job gets in the way, but we're (still) progressing!

JONmanIStheBEST 2 years ago
i can already tell you how to make them
buy some sock poi clear or white your choice buy a UV reactive circle cut out thebottom of the sock poi. grab a microlight or something of the sort like a fake candle light attach a quick clip ring to the base of it ( the UV reactive part)attach the microligt or glowstick to it by turning the sock poi inside out and attaching it then your done he just made a custom flat cicle conecept at the botton with protective rubber/ foam for durablility. Its easy
megaman92922 2 years ago
If you're saying they're lights in socks, you're absolutely right... but the brightness and the range of colours they can produce are something _very_ special.
hyperlight 2 years ago
Are you ever going to release these things?

As long as you want them to be. I tend to tie the socks of so they're about 55cm (~21") but it's fully adjustable.

freaking sweet!! any change in price projections? I gotta ask since you have to cover the cnc machine cost
BobDobbs404 2 years ago
Somewhere in the £150-£200 (GBP) range is my best guess...
hyperlight 2 years ago
what are being used at 3:00?
Topshanker123 2 years ago
Same toys but in a different configuration - in tailed poi instead of socks.
hyperlight 2 years ago
yes!!! very nice :o)
RollieYollie 2 years ago
Holy crap.. you are actually alive!! I figured that would get your intention. I stopped checking up on it 2 years ago. Will it be within a year?
BobDobbs404 2 years ago
Given recent developments, I would say the answer is yes..
hyperlight 2 years ago
WTF!! Why don't you end all the suspense and tell them NO! It's been years upon years you freaking liar! They are never going to be sold!
BobDobbs404 2 years ago
You're wrong, at no point have I lied. I've been wrong in my estimations of when I'd hoped to release them, but I've always been up front about delays etc. it's still my intention to launch these toys. Unfortunately, I'm not superhuman; I have a full time job and require sleep and a social life now and again.
Right now we're waiting for a CNC machine to be delivered at the moment, but when that arrives we'll get the housings sorted and be a lot closer to a finished product.
Progress takes time

oh i love this...i wanna be that smooth
CRXFREXXX 2 years ago
Poi spinners are so smooth, so different from glowsticks or rave spinners.
I learned with glosticks at raves then moved to Fire. I love both cause one is more relaxing, while the glowsticks are very aggressive
kriptonian7 2 years ago
I dunno, I've seen some pretty smooth glowstickers too!
