  • how could anybody dislike this!?

  • @TheZags18 cuz someone had to press the button and for no other reason

  • Extremely sad part of the series. I wonder if this will still be the case. Our planet a mere entry in some alien database, because we were stupid.

  • Our population is approaching 7 billion, you would need far less than a millionth of that amount to minimally regenerate the human species. Imagine planets with possibly humanoids that have tens of billions or trillions in population, who knows. We are a few centuries at most from venturing across the solar system. Wether we are alone or not more than half the planets in our solar system would not be detected around a near by star and there are hundreds of billions in our galaxy alone.

  • Beethoven's 7th symphony movement 2

  • What is the very last song played for the outro of the song during the explosion?

  • @chavman056 Barber's Addagio for Strings

  • @proadmin1 Okay thank you, do you know what the song is playing throughout? Starts at the begining?

  • Imagine an Earth governed by a person like Carl Sagan- our world would become a planet of reasoning and peace, no more wars, no more superstition, we would advance at a huge rate- pollution and poverty would be a thing of the past in a few decades.

  • @SpecterReflector

And legal cannabis lol, he'd have had my vote on all accounts.

  • @SpecterReflector That is assuming that the great man, Carl Sagan would not himself, get corrupted by power. That the look of the world upon him would get corrupted, and he would become like many other men, who recieved power.

  • @SpecterReflector

I'm sure a number of vested interests would prevent him from reaching that level. Look at the disorientation our culture experiences in light of climate science. Vested interests with infulence in the media are preventing people from knowing the truth. The War on Terror is another bogus distraction. No one person should be in charge, but governments should listen to scientists, although not all scientists were of the same beliefs as Sagan (Teller and von Neumann).

  • anybody else cried watching episode 13? i did.

    like a baby i wept.

  • Does anyone know the music that's played in this video?

  • @RithAreous The first part is Beethoven 7th Symphony 2nd Movement

  • TOTAL AND ABSOLUTE!

  • I wish Carl Sagan had been my father. I love and miss you.

  • CARL SAGAN is the wise man of all time.

    Carl lives on.

HE IS AN INSPIRATION FOR ALL OF US.

  • Carl Sagan is one of the very few people who have ever moved me to tears.

  • yes. This scene in Cosmos is one of the very few things that ever in my life moved me to tears.

  • Moving toward a solution starts with taking small steps, such as recognizing the problem and analyzing the risk.

When people think about nuclear disarmament if they do - they tend to think nothing will change except that we get rid of nuclear weapons. Thats not going to happen. Before we can even determine if nuclear disarmament is possible, we need to get beyond the simple good-guy/bad-guy view of the world and recognize that things are much more complex.

  • Its very sad to think that the majority of scientists on our little Planet are employed by the military machine, so many in fact that they outnumber all other scientists in all other fields combined. What does that say for our future on this little blue dot? I used to think that scientists were smart but in the end theyll be the death of us all.

  • A Brilliant Series !

  • I haven't seen this show in almost 30 years and this was the one moment I've never forgotten in all that time.

  • this is the saddest thing i ever saw :'(

  • can someone tell me the name of the background music at 5:00

  • Its shostakovich's 5th ... not sure what movement

  • I'm not sure what the name of the song in the background is, but it was used in the 1925 film "Battleship Potemkin" during the famous Odessa Steps scene.

  • what song is it playing in the background please?

  • Yes Youtube is conveyed in part by satellite communication. Some signals miss the receptor and escape into space, some of them will hit the nearest star, alpha proxima, in 4.5 light years if the satellite is positioned in the right place - and this happens when you click your mouse - such is the sophistication of the global communications system.

  • Ohhh Carl Sagan i miss you :(

  • No!!! not Earth, That's where all my favorate females live!!!

  • @HeathenWarriorPoet obviously you've never been with a klingon

  • Gee, 05:45. Doesn't that relate to SUBMARINES THAT CAN ONLY BE SEEN ON HIGH INTENSITY SONAR? Wow, you're a genius.

  • Are YouTube broadcasts, also beamed into space?

  • i hope not lol

  • At 7:28 you discover that Carl was also a great actor.

  • I don't know if I'd call that acting. When you're thinking about something so catastrophic and so tragic that could very well happen, you'd have to be a machine to not have that kind of expression on your face.

  • You know how to pick them xxxsdesdexxx!
