I've played through threetimes and now Ive started the 4th try. It isn't boring, the enhanced edition makes the atmosphere a lot better und its fun every time. the different decisions u can make let every try look different. i love it.

You get your basic armour in the prologue, you can buy one better set of armour from the second chapter on. They're both leather armour as leather doesn't inhibit the fast movement of Witchers.  Much later you get the opportunity to get a special enchanted armour that has 3 variations (depending on previous choices in the game), it looks completely different, and very cool and gritty.

You get new weapons at regular intervals.

The witcher uses a modified aurora engine. So its closer to Baldurs gate and neverwinter nights in terms of gameplay.

No you can have only sword and magic.

well actually you can have two swords,one you will use against humanoid enemies,the other against monsters.

You also have two other weapon slots,one for axe and club-like weapons,the other one for small weapons like daggers or torches.

The game offers a lot of non weapon items though, which is sometimes a bit of a pain due to the subpar inventory system.

However a much better rpg than all other recent rpgs like for example Oblivion NWN2 and Gothic3, storywise.Only Mass Effect is equally good

The game is in a way linear.There is always a certain quest you will have to finish to complete the chapter (of which there are 5) and the quests available to you during a chapter only differ depending on choices you make during the game - you are in a way "trapped" in certain areas during a chapter. There are lots of quests though and many offer different solutions. You will especially choose a side in the conflict that takes place in the game and this will alter your experience greatly.

I know. I finished this game on normal and hard mode. I meant, that you can't use bows, crossbows, hammers. And about 2 types of sword, there is no need to write about that, because this video contains information about types of swords (steel and silver).
