@mayox1234567 Depends on what you're after, Quite a lot of metal drummers love that awesome steely ringy sound you can get from a steel snare, sort of similar to this or perhaps the blade (my snare has an awesome ring to it, look up 'black panther kung fu snare.' Some of them love a huge powerful crack, possibly like the phatbob or the sledgehammer and some of them love a very high pitched poppy snare like the stinger
I tune by feel and ear. The batter I tighten until it starts to ring and develops a "crack" sound, then I loosen it just a bit so the drum opens up. The resonant head I tune up until the drum starts to carry and sing out, then I usually tighten it a bit higher and loosen the lugs on either side of the snare wires to improve the sensitivity. I keep the snare wires kind of loose so they don't choke the drum.
Hey, i just got one of these and hav been trying so hard to get the low tuning! wat skins are you using and how do you tune them? at the moment i got emperor x on mine and been messing round with bob gatzen tuning.. sounds cool but i want something low and tight like this. Any help would be much appreciated cheers!
@defmusik1 The heads in all our videos are the stock heads that ship with each drum. The stock heads on this drum are a coated Remo Ambassador on top and a clear Remo Ambassador on the bottom.
It may be that your Emperor X is too thick / heavy to produce the sound you want. If you still have the original batter that shipped with the drum, put it back on and give it a try. If you need a new one, let us know via email -- andy[at]drumcenternh[dot]com
Hey Shane, I have played this drum along with the Blade side by side and to be honest there isnt that huge of a difference if any...I dont understand why mapex made this and the blade? that one inch does nothing...same drum..anyway the new Panthers are great!
@premierdrummer1 You may not notice it up close, but when you mic it up and listen to it out front at a show... You'll notice it then. The extra depth just gives it that bit more power, and a stronger backbeat.
can you send to iceland and can i pay in krónur and how much does it cost to send it to iceland
