For instance, here in Portugal, much "poorer" than USA, our median life expectancy is higher (thanks to the presence of olive oil, fish, vegetables, fruit, etc, in our traditional food), although we spend far less.

@standupgun My concern is that they'll use converse logic and say that because they already allow social security, there isn't anything different with forcing everyone to contribute to Obamacare, and I would assume their use of the commerce clause. But I'm pretty sure the founders didn't suggest the commerce clause as a means and end to govern EVERYTHING we do in our economy.

the supreme court is going to rule on it. the final decision is not with the states.

I understand that you would like to have states decide on whether a piece of legislation is constitutional (aka nullification), but reality is not even close to that right now.

@myrelative Why not Nullification?  It worked when only 25 states passed REAL ID nullification legislation. Despite the fact that federal law declares marijuana illegal in ALL cases and the Supreme Court has upheld it, 15 states have passed medical marijuana laws, and the feds have been powerless to stop them.

quite different case. the feds dont enforce federal marihuana laws in some cases, i.e. the states win just by the feds being inactive.

in the case of health care the states would have to actively prevent the federal government to prevent the implementation. I dont see this happening anytime soon, but if it does I'm not against it.

There also happens to be incompetent people that work there that have to be held accountable for their actions...therefore sued. Illegals get free emergency care because hospitals WANT THE MONEY.
