  • ive a 30ltr ferm bin, im looking to make some ginger beer much to the likeness of this recipe. what measurements of ingredients would be needed?

  • @kastrosama Multiply the ingredients by a factor of 6 for 30 litres with the exception of the yeast (just follow pack instructions on how much to use)

  • Hey, what quantity does this make in total, and will it scale to 5 gallons easily?

    Thanks.

  • @GoldMW2 5 litres but scales up easily. Multiply all the ingredients by 4.6 with the exception of the yeast (just follow pack instructions on how much to use)

  • @BrewTubeUK Thanks for fast reply, I had time to check out the rest of your channel. Decided to subscribe straight away! look forward to more great videos :)

  • @BrewTubeUK I would suggest you place the raw ginger into boiling water for a minute or two to kill unwanted bacteria

  • if you used sugar insted of malt would it still taste alright

  • @MrAwesome04000 I don't think it would. If you were making a traditional, low strength ginger beer it'd be all right, but all sugar for anything stronger tends to taste a bit odd in my opinion. You'd miss out on the malty flavour for one thing, but you could always try it out in a small batch and see how it goes.

  • how big is the packet of yeast

  • @MrAwesome04000 I think the packet of yeast was 11g

  • This was on Youtube's twitter! :D

  • @char466 Cheers. Didn't realise I'd made gingerbread cookies :-D

  • thanks for the video. how much water did you use in this recipe?

  • @lelemik4 1 litre of boiling water and 4 litres of cold.

  • He's going to make a strong WARMING ginger beer

  • Is it the malt extract that makes it a stronger ginger beer?

  • @Rhoryborealis Yes, but it's the amount of it that gives the high strength of alcohol. If that amount of sugar or glucose was added, it would have the high alcohol content but without the tasty malt flavour.

  • Just a little hi-jack. My D&B is ruined,it's gone sour! I think the air leaks caused some dodgy germs, heyho I'll have to try some Ginger like you.

  • @OssyTuber Downer. Hope your next brew goes well

  • No I'm very lazy I'm afraid, I live near the Temperance Bar that sells the cordial, I'm trying an alcohol version. Hope it works?

  • @OssyTuber ah, there's an idea. I've been too afraid to forage my own burdock, because it can be confused with a poisonous plant if you don't know what you're doing.

  • Sometimes these comments really are the most. Thanks for the recipe friend, I'm going to give this one a try, I'm doing dandelion and burdock at the minute!

  • @OssyTuber Fantastic. I've often wondered about making dandelion and burdock myself. Did you harvest the burdock yourself?

  • your voice and background noise reminds me old horror movies on vhs...

  • @sukablianah2 really?

  • @BrewTubeUK yep

  • @sukablianah2 Fair enough

  • does it taste like soda-ginger ale??

  • @geppegep No, more malty

  • @BrewTubeUK I would love to taste your blood as it pours from your ears!

  • @Dwoodtl Sorry, that's not on draught. Have you considered a more mainstream beverage or at the very least some psychotherapy?

  • @BrewTubeUK I apologize. I am a bit random and nutty at times. Seriously I do. I find humor in it so excuse me please mate!

  • @Dwoodtl No apologies needed.

  • Notes for next time: Double the root ginger. When syphoning, bits of ginger block the tap on the syphon tube, so remove the tap and just use the tube. Also consider syphoning through a sieve or, perhaps, hold muslin or cheese cloth over the "in" end of the syphon tube with butchers string (or similar)

  • Mmmm, I could use that right now, since I have soar throat. Cheers!
