  • i was going to complain about how he shouldn't rhyme with words, especially in the chorus (not things like "ding dang dong")

but then he said "pooface" and all was forgiven.

  • 1:30 for the start of the song :D

  • @MrJoemanDUDE Yeah, you said it 3 times...

  • Song starts at btw 1:30 :D

  • Start at @1:30 to go straight to the song :D

  • Sarcasm, 28 people dosn't get it..

  • Just read the review "Whatever happened to that fine old tradition of tarring and feathering?" and "The self-satisfied gurning seems to last for centuries" omg D:

  • had to look up the review out of curiously, not surprised Tim wrote this song!

  • @TheMegaAppleJuice I'm not surprised he wrote it, but the review was pretty accurate. He definitely has a few hilarious songs, but it's too often lost in crap - like this.

  • You FUCKING pooface...

    :3

  • The two-second long piano jam at 3:00 is the audio manifestation of awesomeness.

  • Lol, fucking pooface. xD

  • Maybe you should quit and get a job that you'd be better at like killing yourself, you fucking cunt.

  • Yeah, I wanna make your children watch you eat your own face meat

  • 27 people are going to have something they love catch on fire.

  • "The bards were feared. They were respected, but more than that, they were feared... If you pissed off some witch, then what's she gonna do? She's gonna put a curse on you....no big deal. You piss off a bard, and forget about putting a curse on you, he might put a satire on you... And if it's a particularly good bard, and he's written a particularly good satire, then even years after your dead, people are still gonna be laughing at what a twat you were."

    -Alan Moore

  • I hope something you love catches on fire! Lmao

  • 'You fucking pooface'

  • Whenever I think of what my 'ex-best friend' and all her little cock sucking bitches did to me and said about me behind my back, I watch this video and makes me feel a little bit better. I suck at writing songs, so this one does the trick.

  • You fucking... poo face...

  • Tim Minchin is quickly becoming one of my favorite people.

  • 1:32 you can thank me later

  • @kenscottmaclean1

Good for watching it again...and again....and again =D

  • @CrazyAussie13 - He grew up in Perth but i think he was born in Britain but im not sure.

  • What is tims region? Like where was he born/raised?

  • @CrazyAussie13 he was born and raised in perth but currenly lives in london

  • @thedarkprince321 Thought he was an aussie :P

  • @thedarkprince321 he was born in England actually :)

  • @fallingonabruise was he? my bad then

  • I did know how to spell Phill Daoust, then I took an arrow to the knee...

  • I read the review, since going into this I didn't know who Phil Dauoust was. Phil had this coming to him...I hope it was cathartic for Minchin, as well, LOL!

  • @ChuckyJesus666 that would have been a good comment if you didn't ruin it by puttin "LOL" at the end of is. :D

  • Tim Minchin = Definition of Awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • watch this with the captions on for extra lols

  • I actually read this review by Daoust, and honestly it's one of the most stupid & ignorant things I've ever read in my life... He is so unbelievably wrong about - well - everything, it almost hurts. Tim, you're the one!

  • @Keytaster I know, i looked it up last night after listening to this, and I was like wow, this guy is chatting pure bollocks...lol. It's like he assumes that only HIS idea of entertainment is worth watching by everybody, what a cunt, thats all im saying about him, lol.

  • Looks like phil daoust made a youtube accout for every one of his 22 family members

  • When you count all of the letters in the title together you get a total of 30 letters. A nice, rounds number. I am pleased.

    Fuck OCD

  • @HaistaPaska92 If you add the alphabetical positions of O, C & D together, you get 22. Which is a palindrome, and twice the value of the 5th prime...*and* the number of negative comments in this thread!

Though that's more Asperger's than OCD.

  • journalouse

  • 'So maybe you should quit and get a job you might be better at like KILLING YOURSELF YOU FUCKING CUNT!'

    LOL!

  • Go to surnamedb . com and search for Daoust

Although whether Phil being born at all, never mind in August, is a cause for celebration is highly debatable.

  • Phil Daoust made 23 youtube accounts to dislike this song

  • i have watched this so many times, it gets better and better each time i watch it :)

    Tim. Is. A. Legend.

  • "but i still wanna cut big chunks of flesh out of your stupid face, and make your children watch while i force you to eat them, yeah i wanna make you children watch you eat your own face meeeeeeeaaat!" like if there is someone you want to do that to...

  • @weirdcitykid Actually I think it was more because of the "Fucking cunt" bit.

  • "like killing yourself you fucking cunt" XD

  • I love his smug face at the very end of the video.

  • ahahaha i never get bored of this!

  • 22 people are Phil Daoust

  • @LolAllNicksAreTaken no 21 of those is the phil he was on about

  • You know what's coming once he says he doesn't want to mention any names...

  • I love the abortions of logic defending this song in the face of my misgivings:

    1) Your point is invalid because child sex slavery isn't that bad

    2) This isn't bad because other stuff is worse

    3) Anyone who has ever been pissed off would love this song, therefore you have never been angry

  • 20 dislikes. Phil Daoust and his only 19 readers

  • A neighbour of ours went to school with Phil Daoust, so got a surprise when his family went to Tim's show and this was performed!

  • Unfortunately, it's clear his comedy isn't understood by everyone. I'm glad that I get it!! I'm off to listen to '5 poofs and 2 pianos'! ;)

  • Wooohooo! 'Tis true - I read the thing Phil Daoust wrote and it's absolute shite. Clearly he was just a bitter, closed-minded man when he saw Minchin perform. Just sayin'.

  • @Flickarounie Can I find the article online?

  • @EragonFiresword just google "phil daoust tim minchin". Its a really shit interview

  • @thisismynamehahaha Wow... I can see why he wrote a song about it. Wow.

  • facemeat...nuff said

  • i wonder if phil heard

  • @themeecer Oh be nice now, there are many out there who enjoy his comedy.

  • @themeecer is that you phil?

  • If ever there was evidence against minchins philosophical beliefs this would be it because this song must have been written by god... LOL XD

    Just kidding Ima total atheist.

  • When you type "phil daoust" into google, the top hits are "phil daoust", "phil daoust review tim minchin", "phil daoust song" and "phil daoust tim minchin". I bet he regrets that review now...

  • Wow just read Phill Daousts review... what a fucking chode.

  • I couldn't stop laughing at "I hope something you love catches on fire."

  • @AMVslowking

    NOOOOOO companion cuuube!

  • you fucking pooo face!

  • he always puts everything into his songs

  • Did this for the talent show at school. Teacher's were not impressed...

  • @ianokamotochannel

Yeah but that was only becuase you did it so badly!

  • @ianokamotochannel Still better then sing Ten foot cock and few hundred virgins.our principal is catholic ...

  • Comment removed

  • Knowledge of his own fallability and imperfection? If so, Tim is describing the human condition, rather than that of Doust, since I find it likely that all of us share the desire to regard ourselves in increasingly favorable light, but are checked in place by our knowledge of how obnoxious people who do tend to be (and how little friends they have), as well as the awareness of our own imperfection.

  • 4:07

    "Still want revenge" face.

  • every time he says something homicidal you can see the veins in his forehead pop up

  • phil has 18 different accounts as it seems^^^

  • '...watch out, because I’m better at that job. I’ve stopped playing it. I should stress it’s about how pathetic and hyper-sensitive artists are. The contentious bit is I used his real name. If you call for a comedian to be tarred and feathered in a newspaper in the first year of their career, I don’t feel guilty.'

So yeah, I think we can all think about a person we would direct thing song too haha!

  • Tim Minchin was asked why he wrote this song in the Metro, November 2011- 'I wrote it two years after the review appeared because it had comic potential. It’s over the top and hysterical. The review really upset me at the time because it was my first year of doing comedy and this guy really went to town. I’ve since discovered he’s one of those journos who tries to be witty and clever at the cost of people. If you try to be witty and clever by being scathing and mean about a comic...'

  • Thumbs up for accidental spit at 2:55

  • tim minchin sucks. he's the worst musician/comedian/singer/songwriter in the entire world. absolutely terrible.

...maybe he'll write a song about me now... :D

  • Tim can be really hard to read sometimes. The intro sounds so honest, but then he launches into a song that is either painfully harsh or hyperbole. If the lyrics really are how Tim feels, this is disturbing and very sad. If this is mostly hyperbole, it is merely disturbing.

I'm not a fan of this one.

  • @andy4an If you don't like harsh shit you probably shouldn't watch any more Tim Minchin. His whole act is about taking the piss out of everything. Haven't read Phil Daoust's review, but it may have been brutal. Some "reviewers" have the tact and grace of youtube commenters. Just ripping people to shreds for no other reason than "it really feels good to destroy someone, tiihii." If Tim vents that shit through song.. Fine by me.

  • @ronnysoeberg "Strip away Minchin's fretful porpentine hair, white piano and willingness to fall off the stage for a laugh, and you're left with a bog-standard stand-up with a silly voice and a few good songs, most of whose material would have seemed dated in the last millennium.... Whatever happened to that fine old tradition of tarring and feathering?"

-Phil Daoust, The Guardian 2005. Editted for length.

  • @bareakon WTF, he doesn't even make sense! "...would have seemed dated...." Then "What ever happened to that fine old tradition...." WHAT????? Phil Daoust is just jelly.

  • @lardman2228 Like I said, editted for length.

You can find the full (slightly) more coherent version online

  • @bareakon Well yeah, it's edited, but he still contradicted himself in the same article :P

  • @bareakon Hehe, thanks for posting :) I guess I can see why he'd take offense to that. Most reviewers have no idea what it's like to be onstage. Have to take their reviews for what they are. Opinions made by people with little insight into what they're writing about. Much of the time the reviewers aren't even proper reviewers. You see the same with photographers at concerts. Just some news paper dude been given a camera by the editor. "go.. do an article on whatever this band is.."

  • @ronnysoeberg

I love many of his song. I am ambivalent about many of them. And I dislike two (the other one made a joke about child sex slavery). If he ever came to my city I would jump at the chance to hear him live. Do you think I got my first exposure to Tim though this song? In fact, I found this one while engaging in a brute force search of his work because I wanted to hear everything.

    /rant

But yeah, this kind of song makes me wonder if I should stop listening to him.

  • @andy4an Yeah but you have to admit it is really, really funny - especially the bit where he calls him a cunt. I am serious here.

  • @andy4an You do realise it's ironic, right?

  • @alexface211

Of course. Irony simply means it happens in a different way than expected. We thought we were getting a heat forgiveness song, but what actually happened was quite disturbing. The irony increases the shock value to be sure, but even if you ignore that part of the intro, this is quite a severe response to a very mean review (thanks for posting it whoever that was).

Humans are a product of their DNA (no control) and their experiences. There is nothing of value here.

  • @andy4an No no, what I mean is, it's ironic in that he's singing all these horrible things in the song, but he doesn't actually mean them. He's not being serious; it's meant to be taken as irony.

"I've written you this special song, to show how far I've come along in my efforts to be more mature in the face of negative feedback."

Obviously he doesn't think it's mature; he's joking.

  • @alexface211

Even if I grant you that he is 100% kidding (and I don't), I contend that "I want to cut chunks out of your face and make your children watch as I force you to eat them" and "I hope one of your family members dies" are disturbing. I don't ever want to be so jaded that this doesn't phase me.

  • @andy4an I guess you're not a fan of this kind of dark humor then.

  • @JollyG87

I am not opposed to dark humor in general, but this went too far for me.

  • @andy4an I guess you've never heard of Brendon Burns.

  • @andy4an Seriously? This is too dark? It's not even the darkest Tim Minchin song. And there are much darker songs out there.

  • @andy4an Shit, really? Don't listen to lullaby.

  • @andy4an you need to lighten up a bit.. nothin wrong with a little child sex slavery

  • @andy4an Blimey to listen to you it would sound like nothing had ever really fucked you off in your entire life.

  • 15 people know phil daoust :|

  • 1:33 skip button.

  • Can I flag this for awesome?

  • Mr Daoust has watched this 15 times!!!! :P

  • This guy is so self absorbed! why would you like him or find him funny when he writes horrible songs like this?!

  • @RidersWhoRide because he's brilliant, hilarious and actually seems like quite a nice person. guessing he doesn't ACTUALLY want to force phil's children to watch their dad eat his own face meat. what with being a "comedian" i imagine it is a "joke"

  • @sidisnanners ...I have since seen more of his stuff and have seen the real tim behind the stage persona, and yeah, I was probably being a closed minded dick... all I had seen was this, pope song, and ten foot cock and he came accross as a rude twat but I have more recently opened my eyes to the rest of his stuff+ interviews, and yeah... i think i got th wrong impression...

  • @RidersWhoRide It took 5 hours for your revelation to occur??? This is just proof that Tim is awesome... too turn someone from being AWESOME to AWESOMER XD

  • @izzyGO52 yup... haha, i saw one thing, then sometime in the day I saw a good vid, and it inspired me to look at more stuff, and i went a bit crazy... haha am slowly working my way through all of the vids...:\ haha

  • @RidersWhoRide Tim's good XD i like him mainly cause he's funny and is a good singer and writes really meaningful and logical stuff... i'm not completely Atheist but i definitely don't believe in Religion XD if i were to, it would definitely be Buddhism :) Are you religious???

  • @izzyGO52 yeah, I'm a christian, but I still love this guy and though it pains me to admit it, he makes some pretty good, thought provoking points...:\

  • @RidersWhoRide lol not everything in the bible is wrong, in my opinion, and some things it preaches is seriously how we should all act :) i hope i'm not offending you :/ lol :D TIM FTW ~ Rhymes XD

  • @izzyGO52 no no you're not:L lol (what a great coincidence tht tim ftw rymes!! haha)

  • @RidersWhoRide Btb (soz this is random) but i like your name XD

  • @izzyGO52 haha, taa:D

  • @RidersWhoRide that's fair, he does make some rather provocative comments haha. which naturally only makes me love him more.. i met him in june and, granted, we only chatted for about five minutes, but he was a total sweetheart. : D glad you are liking his work more now!.

  • @sidisnanners haha, I'm loving it! it's worrying how quickly this has turned around!!

  • @RidersWhoRide don't worry, it's the start of a beautiful journey. no one can resist tim for long haha

  • @sidisnanners haha:P I have had "rock and roll nerd" in my head all day... :L lol

  • every time I'm pissed I listen to this song. Somehow it magically helps xD

  • Yeah, that's right, even the bug flying around near my computer screen landed on the thumbs up :)

  • everyone knows it's gonna be good when Tim says "I wrote him a song."

  • phil daoust made 15 accounts to dislike this

  • 1. Go to Google.

    2. Type "Phil Daoust"

    3. Click "I'm feeling lucky".

    4. See who wins. :)

  • Tim Minchin - You either love him or you're Phil Daoust :)

  • What was the piece he mentions in the beginning? (around 0:05) "extraordinary piece"

  • It's a good thing Phil is a journaloust, or this song would have been very hard to write.

  • @JiMiStiX You sir, are a genius XD

  • Lols, I thought the 'pooface' comment was referring to the glitchy stuff stuck on him in the first few seconds.

  • 15 people who clicked dislike are Phil Daoust

  • That lick at 3:02 is just...

  • Hilarious!

  • oops... here I am again... bad bad me... stop watching tim minchin videos and do your homework!

  • Fucking brilliant, such an amazing comedian and musician. Slightly under-appreciated even.

  • I love Tim...

(A good rule is to never piss off a comedian OR a musician. The former will make you a punchline, and the latter will write a song to deride you. Tim is both. Phil Daoust clearly lacks critical reasoning skills :P )

  • Yeahhh I wanna make your children watch you eat your own face meat...

  • the 15 dislikes must be from Phil Daoust.

  • I find it fairly sad that even though his name is in the title, most people fail to spell "Phil Daoust" correctly...

  • @MorbidlyObesePenguin True! All you have to do is remember all the vowels in order, stick them between D and st, and then remember to remove the e and the i. Simple!

(I'm not actually being facetious, though it sounds that way.)

  • Am I the only one who googled this guy afterwards?

  • It's amazing how many comments contain misspellings of 'Daoust'. I know it's a difficult name to spell, but it says it right in the title.

    Xx

  • love tim. fellow ginger australian- we really are a dying breed

  • @umbongo93 or a dyeing breed possibly?

  • @Buccaandghillie I like the way your mind works

  • ding dang ding dang dong ive written u this special song saying fuk u phil dust

    \

  • all other reporters/critics take this as a message, don't mess with the minchin

  • try to swith Phil Daust with Justen Biber

  • Phil Daust has watched this 15 times!

  • The review is still on the Guardian's site.

  • it's lucky that phil dousts name rhymes with his profession otherwise the song would make sense would it?

  • @sallyrhiannon but he's a journaLIST * :) It doesn't rhyme but Tim makes it.

  • Tim seems to have the black death at the start of this video

  • At least 160 000 people know Phil Daoust is a cunt..... or should that be 160 000 more...

  • phil doust is a asswipe (tim is awsome)

  • I have the Region 2 DVD for RFT? and there is no difference (except for the number of bears).

    It's still fucking hilarious.

  • Isn't it just brilliant that the second result you get when you google phil daoust is the Tim Minchin wikipedia page?

    It's a modern day victory.

  • I'm afraid i can't start the day without listening to this... wierd but seems to help

  • Google Phil Daoust. All you see are Tim Minchin links.

  • so yh just looked up a load of other reveiws on tim and there all really positive for him, mhmm wonder why, apart from him being an all time legend of course

  • part of the review:

The self-satisfied gurning seems to last for centuries. Then Minchin makes the unilateral decision to give us an encore, the last thing you need in a festival where acts stack up in the wings like jets over an airport. He even congratulates himself for keeping the next performers waiting. Whatever happened to that fine old tradition of tarring and feathering?

    phil daoust- you fucking cunt!!!

  • @ShayTims1995 on mine Daoust it comes up with douse. But oh well your iPhone must be pretty weird! Also Phil has made 2 more accounts since you posted that...

  • A very fogiving song. L
