  • @csmeteora9 True, in 97 Frentzen complained there was something wrong with the aero balance of the car. He was ignored because Jacques was happy with the car. Barcelona was a classic example, Frentzen was absolutely nowhere in the race because his car kept chewing it's tyres. Jacques said nobody listened to Frentzen in the team, they were only interested in winning the race with him.

  • did anyone ever tell martin brundle to shut the fuck up? i mean seriously, I cant even enjoy the symphony of the driving for a split second because he spews endless information that i will never need to use. I just want to listen to the car. Brundle, shut the fuck up!

  • @DJmeistergeist Brundle is the best commentator formula one has ever had, and you have to remember some people in england only watch the Britsh gp and some may never have seen formula 1 before so he is making sure people know about it.

  • @DJmeistergeist you're a fucking idiot for not realizing why he is talking so much and apart from that he is the best commentator in formula one

  • the cars have developed so much in 12 years. these cars had comparatively no grip compared to the red bull

  • *was at that race in the crowd coming up to bridge corner* :D

  • Good lap Damon Hill! XD

  • heinze harold frentzen is reem

  • are both of these commentators still commenting~? miss both of them, juz remind me during my early years of watching f1.

  • "who is closest to the man infront of him" - good one. ( 0:00 )

  • it looks like a warm up lap (N)

  • Hill/Frentzen - the best two drivers Jordan ever had. 1999 was their best year too.

  • I think you'll find Michael Schumacher was.

  • Ok, granted, but for the whole season, Hill and Frentzen was the best driver combo. Thanks for the vid, Dave.

  • Hill scored only 7 points in the 3-times race winning Jordan that season. He was definitely past his prime.

  • he admitted he didn't want to push in his last season and risk injury, especially after Michael had crashed and was out after Silverstone

Hakkinen took it pretty easy in 2001 as well

  • he is TWO drivers??

    he meant driver pairing

Schumacher was paired with De Cesaris

  • @dave00075f1 He meant Hill/Frentzen as the best combination.

  • @dave00075f1 one race and then he left for benetton?

    yea great driver for jordan!

  • @dave00075f1

What did Schumi achieved for Jordan then?

  • @dave00075f1 1 race, in which he burnt out the clutch?

  • @dave00075f1 apart from being a cheating bastard (adelaide '95 being a prime example). damon is a gentleman driver and unlike schumacher, he very rarely resorted to foul play (only incident i can think of is holding up schumacher @ suzuka '97)

  • @blainyrules,,,it was adelaide 94. In Sliverstone 95 hill pushed schumacher off the road gets your facts right.

  • @dave00075f1 He did not push him off, he tried to over take him. There is a huge difference between Silverstone 95 and Adelaide 94

  • @scoregoals The only difference is that Adelaide decided the championship. In both cases Hill tried to overtake and schumi closed the door.

  • @blainyrules Silverstone 95, Monza 95, Suzuka 97, Montreal 98 ;)

  • @dave00075f1

How?? He left them after only 1 race, in which he didn't even finish. Ok, it was not a fault of his own but the fact is he wasn't a 7 time champion back then, and probably wouldn't have been if Senna had lived and Ecclestone and Mosley were so keen on letting him get away with all his questionable antics.

That's like saying Gilles Villeneuve was one of the fastest drivers McLaren ever had (did a few races for them) or Alonso the best driver Minardi ever had. Doesn't count.

  • @dave00075f1 Although Schumacher was in his first year in F1 when he drove for them (as were Jordan themselves). The best results Jordan achieved were from Hill and Frentzen. In 1991 both Schumacher and Jordan were finding their feet in F1.

  • the cars seem much slower there through faster corners than what they are like now! does anyone know what sort of times they were lapping silverstone that year?

  • in those days cornering speeds were slower because they had only jus introduced grooved tires, but they had higher straight line speeds

  • 1.24.8 - 1.25.2 during Qualy

  • From what I can find the fastest lap of Silverstone during the 1999 season was: 1:24.804

in 2009 the fastest lap was 1:18.119

    a considerable difference.

  • That's not much!

  • 6 seconds a lap, seems like quite a bit to me.

  • Not even a bit, those times were better.

  • Thay resurfaced the track

  • For me Hill was always better than Frentzen, 97 proved that, Except in this car. I never really understood why apart from Hill apparently lacking motivation

  • I think Hill never went went well with the grooved tyres, and new regulations after 97.

  • @dave00075f1 think its more the fact that after a good end to 98, 99 was a poor start and he felt his time was up at 39.

If Damon had retired after his championship, his win/race ratio would have been better than Schumi's

  • this for me was when f1 was its best, I started watching around 1996/7 I guess this brings back memories. Th cars sounded a lot nicer then.

  • I love listening to Martin Brundle. He tell's you everything you expirence around the circuit as a Formula One driver!

  • ahh yes martin brundle

  • If i'm not wrong, Jordan at that time only had 6 gears instead of 7.

  • think your right!

  • Even Renault in 2003 only had 6 gears!

At least some of the season!

Check out Alonso's Quali-lap at Spain from 2003!

  • apparently it was something to do with giving the car more torque thats why they only had 6

  • and in 2005 only 6 gear

  • Ok! For the whole season?

  • Anyone think that Jenson Button's style is exactly the same as Damon's?

If so, BrawnGP has a world champ this year for sure.

  • he's got the same gentle kinda driving style, i think.

  • without any mistakes ...

button deserves the title that much !

  • Yes, certainly!

  • Hmmm... looks like a Champ-Car we can see nowadays :D

But I loved those days. Much more dangerous, than you thought :D

  • Ha Master Walker

  • i think there faster because of the tyres war because micheal schumacher holds the lap record for most of the races in 2004 and also the 4 groove tyres where new in 99 thay had 3 in 98 the v10 engines in 2005 had over 970 hb thay now have less than 800

  • Lap records were all set in 2004 cos in 2005 they limited the revs of the engines and they could get the top end speed they had up to then

  • i seen that yeah

  • Pretty amazing just how slow these cars were cornering and braking 9 years ago. Infact I think the current V8s produce almost as much horsepower as they did in 99.

  • well, there was less downforce, very few electronic aids and lots of countersteering and careful throttle application. Actually, kind of like 2008 F1 but with less downforce.

  • lol i little murrayism right at the beginning

"and he is closest to the man in front of him"
