  • This is very impressive! Will you do a second version?

  • @pochopaz7381

I plan to make a second version eventually, with a full-color screen (using maps). In the nearer term I'm building a general-purpose computer which should be able to execute Mini-minecraft as software, although 5-10x slower.

  • That'ssss a nice computer you got there. Be a ssshame if something were to happen to it. lol

  • Now make Minecraft in Minecraft in Minecraft :)

  • And this is Survival mode!

  • @TheFangclaw7 Yeah, he made the world before creative was made.

  • @TheFangclaw7 Sorry, before it was implemented into the normal game.

  • download please

  • @baldian3 Download is on his other video

  • @Blackwido11 Is it? I should have read the description...

  • Is there a master reset button somewhere in this machine? I jumped through the ceiling and it appears to be "locked up"

  • @1995fordf150

No. The way it's designed, the only function with memory access is block placement/removal.

However, since you jumped through the ceiling, chances are you're embedded in a block and can't see the blinking any more. Unless the player position has been corrupted, you should be able to remove blocks nearby and move into the gap. The easiest way is to remove the block beneath you and let gravity do the work.

  • the one and only thing i could say to make this even cooler is pressure plates surrounding you to move and a separate button system for blocks.

    Kudos.

  • Idek what I just watched

  • How long did this take to make?!? HOLY CROW!

  • 11:11 "seriously" because that idea would be insane compared to what you did?!

  • That is absolutely amazing! I am in awe...

  • FINALLY someone calls the SR Flip-Flop by it's proper name! Well, sort of...

  • Minecraft for Atari here i come !!

  • Shears...?

  • I can't even imagine the horrors you went through in debugging... I can't even imagine debugging anything without any way to perform quick checks (like a console to which you can output shit).

  • hey your an awesome at building with redstone do you think you could give us a download of some sort please i would realy like that if u could (^/_\^) thanks

  • colour coding = commenting in normal program

    i are impressed XD

  • @RedEyedMars

Hey, that's a really good analogy, thanks!

    Color-coding = Commented Code.

I've also taken to placing signs on different wires on my current project (building a general-purpose computer) stating more specifically what they do.

"Disconnect XNOR and force Carry to back-propagate" may not make much sense by itself, but it's certainly better than what I term "Monochrome Monstrosities".

  • I feel smart for recognizing some stuff from my electronics classes, like gates and flip flops, but damn. the more you know, the more things you realize you dont know.

  • At 7:15 you talk about xor gates to toggle stuff. Whynot use inverters? Aren't that the gates which are supposed to bitwise invert, not or toggle or whatever?

I'm not familar with this really, nor am I with minecraft particularly, but that just seems more logic to me.

  • @lucb1e

I'm using XORs because what I'm doing IS bitwise inversion. XOR = selectable inversion, and I only want to invert/toggle the block that is being aimed at. The "Toggle Block" circuitry is doing the XOR of

    00010000 and

    00111100 to yield

    00101100

  • Oh dog... why not do it on creative?

  • @FlakeSE Look at the date of the video.

  • @FlakeSE Because this was in August, when 1.8 and Creative mode weren't out yet.

  • Quiiiincunx.

  • now u shuld do it legit =P

  • You didn't demonstrate it working

  • @flanfan1212 yes, he did

  • I've heard of virtual memory but this is ridiculous!

  • Next step, random terrain generation/

  • DAAAAAAAAAAMMN!!!

  • 1 word.... DAMN

  • okk so then build a computer that runs 7 and ill give u a high five

  • O.O

    Dang.

So I made a calculator. That adds 1 to 1.

  • Add a few memory cells and a save command so what is shown on the screen + controls can be used other places, like if you are making a map, you share it with the other computer and the other person edits it without changing the original.

  • Thatssssssss a niccce ssssstructure you conssssstructed there

    Sorry I had to

  • and then an enderman comes by and removes one block...

  • DOWNLOAD PLEASEEEEEE

  • Now to go cry at my adder machine that took an hour to make, tnt it, build another that looks better, re-watch this, redo these steps over and over..

  • Now all you need is mobs :D

  • Quuuuuiiiiiiincunts...

    lol

  • I once made a piston turn on.

  • Error: Brain.exe was not found.

  • @stillinpreschool1 lmao, dude, when he looked down at those torches I shit my pants, but then he went behind the thing...

  • Comment removed

  • @stillinpreschool1 Oh, I'm sorry you can't find it...

  • can you send ma a download link

  • This is why we use transistors in computers now. If we still used tubes, a modern computer would be the size of a city....

  • Wow!! And I thought my clocktower was impressive :( This is awsome!!!!

  • enderman XD

  • Ooooohhhhh mmmyyyy

  • Sure is a nice computer you have there. Sure would be a SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSShame if something were to happen to it...

  • @Ganmeyde old joke

  • imagine hearing the sound "SSsSsSSsSSsSS" BRUUUUHHHMMMM !!!! :O

  • ... i thought it was big at like 1 min in it just kept getting more comlecated.... i honestly can comprened how you even began this i would have never thought of this. Do you relize you just created an in game minecraft binary code using redstone. oh and the memory thing is impressive.

  • WTF DOES IT DO????

  • @tom28863 what? the whole thing? it plays a 2d minecraft... in Minecraft.

  • @tom28863 Really?

  • O_O wonderful device :) - any download available?

  • @fractalwizz I can ask him if he will post something.

  • @pivotman14 oh ya

  • @pivotman14 why?

  • my head hurts now D:

  • QUINCUNX.

  • I wish I was smart enough to figure this out...

  • no minecaft only runs on an os make it run windows first!!!!!!

  • انلحس مخي

  • would have been easier with the redpower mod.

  • This is awesome!

  • I bet you could change this up a little bit and play pong/snake/etc. in minecraft. Pretty cool.

  • @TheCrypticPie Not really. The only thing they have in common are the display and input. The actual calculations are completely different.

  • @MarsBarClock Bah! Humbug! You're right of course. I'm still going to stick with the idea that it can be done, just more effort (ie. new and more elaboration calculations) than simply "changing this up a little bit".

  • But can you make Minecraft in Minecraft in Minceraft?

  • Comment removed

  • This is amazing. Could you post this world to some file-sharing website? I would really love to play with this myself!

  • Because I know how to do any of that. Yeah.

    Awesome job.

  • But will it blend?

  • Now make mobs :D

  • It seems like it would be easier with Eloraam's redstone mod. I may be wrong though, your xor gate is smaller than in the mod but it seems like it would be smaller and easier with it.

  • At first, I sort of understood. You lost me once you got to the minecart.

  • why are there buttons at 6:19?

  • @ham236

It's probably for testing, so he doesn't have to run all the way back to the viewing platform .

  • @Nero0 oh ok. i thought it was some trick with redstone

  • you can put that on a resume.

  • i can barely make a cannon

  • 9:29 "there we go! thats how blinking works. "

  • WoW!

  • Thumbs up if you took a double take when you saw SHIFT UP and thought it said SHUT UP.

    Lolol.

  • I don't even know how to make fucking redstone flash...

  • Download link please!

  • Download link? please :O

  • Wow, subbed, liked, favorited.

  • Someone is too bored...

Apart from that, you did a lot of hard work and I'm impressed, even though, I would never try to do a similar thing, even if I knew how to do it... :P XD

  • Comment removed

  • thought i was good at redstone, lol

  • I think this is what Notch WANTS us to be doing with colored wool and redstone circuits. XD

  • This is fantastic. The color coating is EXACTLY what you do when building a circut.

You use different colored wires so you know what everything is. YOU, SIR, could build amplifiers and shit with this sort of knowledge.

    Hats off. :p

  • where is the save file to be found?

  • is that woll?

  • I hope you play on Peaceful, otherwise Endermen are going to screw this up. :(

  • map download?

  • I was actually thinking of "quincunx" when I saw the device initially (I had randomly stumbled upon the word on wikipedia before) and was genuinely shocked to see that you, or anyone else for that matter, actually found a use for it! Kudos!

  • What happens if you remove one piece of redstone?

  • @Darkness4910 Depends where :P

  • I'm curious how much this could be simplified by using RedPower.

  • Its like looking inside Notches computer!

  • @xk445g heh..... No.

  • Ah, another demonstration of the power of unemployment ;)

  • @BingtheLizard No it is a demonstration of a university degree in computer engineering =D

  • Can you upload a map? This is the most amazing thing i've seen in the new millenium

  • Today i build a dirt house,what about you?

  • Please upload the save file :D

  • It's so colourful! ( That is all I really learned)

  • What'd rule is if they'd let you dye redstone dust and torches like wool

  • Are you freakin serious? You have waaaaaaaay too much time, and are too smart to have that much free time? How did you have enough discipline to build this entire thing, and figure out the design? I am amazed and dumbfounded!

  • I want a download link to that world!

  • I am so lost... my brain has been fried, you sir need an award

  • ...so my computer is a complex set of redstone and torches?

  • Now... can your minecraft game play minecraft?

  • I.. I don't know how you could do it. lol. I sure as hell couldn't. It looks like a bunch of colored junk to me.

  • That looks simpl... HOLY SHIT! I can't wait till 3d games are made in minecraft and take about the same time... like real life advanced. Kind of.

  • looks more like terraria

  • If you think this was difficult... Imagine the work that went into the phone game "Snake"

  • 0_X Well, it's like the bigger version of a computer chip!

  • This reminds me of that giant computer in 2000 a space odyssey. It's as if Babbage had actually managed to build his computer!!

  • BRAINCRAFT!!!

  • .............What?

  • Fucking gravity, how does it work?

  • I kinda wish I was more savvy in this sort of stuff, 'cause all I see if a bunch of red stone and colored blocks... :(

  • Wait, what did you call me? D:

  • Anyone else thinking, Make pacman! :O

  • Seeing the way your machine triggers gravity, I think you can make a fix by having the jump command completely bypass the gravity command, but only move you a block up. All the other checks should still be in place, like having a block to jump off of, and (assumably) not having a ceiling that would normally stop you. That way you remove the feature/gltich of going through blocks.

  • german engineering comes to minecraft :D

  • I would build a 100 block tall and thick wall around this to protect it.

  • errr.. I wouldn't use wool to make a machine of this size, just saying :P

  • wow

  • :O that's so cool!

  • How long did it take you to make?

  • My mind...it is BLOWN!

  • I am impressive that you done 64bits of ram x2 (for display ) and with the proper read write + operations on these bits. Good Job!

  • @dpatulea I am impressive that you know how to use an online translator.

  • @CrazyMonkey124 i know more then that. but nvm

  • holy shit...

  • You need a job in programming. Now.

  • Actually I think I COULD mine that much redstone. I don't even take my pick to the crap anymore there's just so much of it near the bedrock.

  • This is what it's like to be in Tron!!

  • Try to "play" a Tetris :D

  • And now that this has been made, we can stop having people joke about building minecraft in minecraft. In fact, I daresay the lag on this simulation is so great that anything beyond this would simply be unacceptable. So people, quit it! This is already pushing the boundaries of what a redstone computer can do with any practicality.

And now I learned a new word! Quincunx. I'm going to intergrate that into my every day vocabulary.

  • Give it 20 years or so and somebody will be running Crysis in Minecraft

  • Forever alone

  • Where is the " I can build a dirt house" comment ?

  • Notch sould definitely watch it to learn something about how to make minecraft.

  • My mind is totally occupied with this new "quincunx" information.

  • if life were fair, this man would be swarming with women

  • Also, this is fucking amazing, you sir are a genius.

  • ...............can it run Crysis?

  • @poiu477 My God

  • @poiu477 .......

  • Genius.

  • How do you motivate yourself to do things like this? Got an extra nerdy gf or a big gay boyfriend? JK, but honestly this is amazing how do u motivate yourself

  • I kept getting distracted by your mouse cursor in the middle of the screen

  • What happnes if you jump and there are two blocks above you?

  • dude, if you were to get in contact with any major silicon company like intel, AMD, nvidia, etc etc etc and you showed them this, chances are they will hire your ass on the spot.

That being said, this is really fucking badass

  • I'm not gonna lie... I have no clue what I'm looking at.

  • this is jaw-droppingly face-meltingly astounding. What i'm wondering is HOW does mere redstone wiring result in RAM? Is it RAM as we know it, or is it just called RAM because it stores an electrical signal? How does just this redstone "code" for such complexity??

If anyone knows, please tell me! :)
