Jonny is not one of the most overrated players at all. Back in the day he could make or break a game for england, most of the time make them. Yes he is not a playmaker like Carter but the english style was to simply dominate possestion with his kicks and let the fowards dominate up front, which they did against everyone. The style was slow and possibly boring but won games simple as that. A great player and lost sadly to injury's.
I agree with this apart from the fact that back in the day as you put it England played cleverly, not tight, the expanded when it was on and only then which is the best way, and then he was a playmaker and he simply was brilliant in the way he read and played the game, he was the worlds best ever fly half no one can take that from him, but he hasn't performed.

Additionally when you consider that due to Englands lack of skill and talent in the backs, their first five scores the vast majority of their points, and New Zealand's first fies much less so, one can see that Carter is statistically superior.

His running is not even in the same league as carters, wilkinsons a better hitter carter very rarely misses tackles, considering you barely spread the ball outside your second five there's not a lot to back up your opinion of wilkinson being a better passer. Lets not forget how many drop goals he missed in the final before he finally nailed it, if Aussie had of capitalised on his choking this conversation wouldn't even be happening.

Carter is not the reason that New Zealand hasn't won a world cup with him in the side, as we play more of a team game than England. Carter in the 2nd lions test absolutely destroyed their team, not to mention the countless other games he's stared for the all blacks and crusaders.Just because someone played in a team that won the world cup doesn't automatically make them better than anyone who hasn't won a world cup.

Wilko is likely the best kicking fly half the world has ever seen but "that is it" is not an organizer to the standard of Carter. He scored all the points himself without really getting the ball to the wings. that is also a by-product of crap forward ball but the fact remains he does not lead a back line and stats will back this up. the amount of tries scored when he plays are almost half to when he doesn't.
The backs lack of ball creates a lack of confidence.

Johnny is nothing compared to no. 10 in the Southern Hemisphere who can drop 60 metres plus and plus kick 62 metres,thats amazing, a 21 year old Francois Steyn dropping 62 metres against the wind in Auckland against the all blacks thats imppressive!!!

He's is all of those things because that's they way many northern hemisphere teams play. They play negatively with little attempt made to score tries,hence why your first fives often score a lot of points, he may be the best first five at playing in this negative ugly manner, but he's not the best first five when compared to others (Southern hemisphere). Don't mean to sound overly negative, he's an amazing kicker and tackler, I just think his overall ability is often blown out of proportion.

Jonny is not one of the most overrated players at all. Back in the day he could make or break a game for england, most of the time make them. Yes he is not a playmaker like Carter but the english style was to simply dominate possestion with his kicks and let the fowards dominate up front, which they did against everyone. The style was slow and possibly boring but won games simple as that. A great player and lost sadly to injury's.

I agree with this apart from the fact that back in the day as you put it England played cleverly, not tight, the expanded when it was on and only then which is the best way, and then he was a playmaker and he simply was brilliant in the way he read and played the game, he was the worlds best ever fly half no one can take that from him, but he hasn't performed.

Wilkinson will still proberly remain the best defensive number 10 in the game but he's had so many injuries that he will never be the same player as the 2003 Jonny we all loved. Cipriani pretty much offers everything apart from wilkinson's defensive game but he is better in attack than jonny

Your argument based on points is a pretty stupid one when you look at it. Ofcourse Wilkinson has scored more points than Carter, he has played 17 more games than Carter. However on avaerage Carter scores 14.89 points a game compared to Wilkinsons 14.46. Additionally when you consider that due to Englands lack of skill and talent in the backs, their first five scores the vast majority of their points, and New Zealand's first fies much less so, one can see that Carter is statistically superior.
