I have a clearwire sevice, and the motorola wimax modem, if i put this in a large bowl of foil, will the signal increase? would i do this near a window? pls reply back cuz my internet is SLOW
So i need a DWA 140 signal booster + the 25dbi (which is an antenna?) that plugs in to it?
And i also need an MMCX to SMA pigtail in order to plug it in?? the foil bowl looks easy to do.
I'd love to see a vid on someone connecting this to a satellite dish. If that can be done, I might be able to reach city WiFi as I live in the middle of nowhere.
so why dont you just get an MMCX to SMA pigtail and get a 25dbi yagi or something..
yes... dlink failed to mention the 140 has 2 MMCX connecters...
thought that was kinda handy.. not letting us know that eh...instead of the little 2dbi internal antenna you could put a 25dbi yagi on it and reach MILES..
I ordered a pigtail for $5 on ebay.. and a 25dbi yagi for.. $11
@dcannell I found the connecter when I opened my dwa-140 (mines B2 version, no dif.) and found mmcx pot,, on the end opposite the usb plug..
it is an antenna connecter (very small) so I bought the oppsite connecter that plugs into that, it has short cable from it to a larger connecter called RP-SMA (theres more types my antenne is rp-sma)
the antenna's in the 140 are tiny 2 db gain.. the antenna I bought is 25 db..
so I end up with stronger signal from farter away..
@Laplaya1981 its not a perfect parabola, but yes it bounces the signal efectively giving you a dirrrectional antenna insted of an omni.. omni = wasted signal one way if your trying to get wifi from one dirrection.
even better is to use a satelite dish, replace the thing on the arm for the wifi adapter..

@TheGoku1990 Yes you have to do it everytime, and leave it in the bowl...seemed to work for me.
