audio sounds dreadful, doesnt sound clear at all but i guess thats because its not tuned it that good.. sounds like its being clipped to hell...James G0SEC
@NB3K : I had a ICOM PCR 1500 which was a software radio and it was great. But then after a while fiddling around with the mouse gets boring. So i sold that one and am looking at a Yaesu FT950.
@NB3K : I personally like real radios with knobs. Plus i don't know how a higher FPS is useful. As far as I get the basic information at even 1 FPS I am a happy camper.
@TechCrazy If u were truly "tech crazy" you would know that the SDR are real radios. If Flex Radio Systems would put knobs and buttions on their rigs for every thing one can adjust on their rigs, you would not be able to fit the thing through the door!
Like I said I want that performance. You can keep your knobs I want to hear better and sound better than anything Icom, Kenwood or Yaesu has! And not just that, but I love knowing that my money went to put americans to work!
@NB3K : SDR are not real radios!. All the software gimmick needs REAL RADIO"s in the backend to recieve and transmit signals. Only thing software does is offer Digital Signal Processing with a lot of display options. I have played with the SDR and its very ridiculously badly written software on top of bad design and ergonomics. It will remain a curiosity for me and never a REAL radio. A radio is all about receiving signals and not a home theater.
@NB3K : Having said that Icom's, Yaesu's have craftsmanship and design and ergonomics and attention to details on how the lights looks and the buttons feel. I love that in a product.
Regarding putting Americans to work, it should be the corporations who should think of that. They will outsource if it means making a buck. Quality be damned. You will never be able to go to Wal Mart.Irrespective of that I want the best there is. That's what it's all about. Either innovate or perish, that simple.
Grats on the new radio. I'm hoping to get my 7600 in the near future. Are you partial to any particular band? I'll be listening for your call. Perhaps we can get a QSO one day.
I wish my RX was that clean, great radio!

@NB3K : Any other radio with better display?
TechCrazy 1 month ago
@TechCrazy check out the display on the PowerSDR 2.0 real time analyzer @ 50fps compared to 10fps or less on the Icoms

@TechCrazy I did not mention the Icom PCR1500. The SDR radio is totally different. This is the misconception that many have. I want performance.

I operate 10-40m. Mostly 20m and 40 m in the evening. I like 10 and 15m when they open
