Internationally, it would be seen for what such a move would be, political maneuvering to Romanianize an ethnic minority by diluting its population so it becomes a minority in a region in which it occupies an 80% majority. In all honesty, do you not see the international repercussions to Rumania for takiing such action? Rumania, like any other country, is not a political island in a void.
It must interact with an international community and subjugate its interests to international opinion. And that's the reality of what is possible versus what is likely to happen.
Rumania could make peace with Hungary through compromise, if it would consider alternatives that are very real and practical, and would prove to be agreeable to the majority of Hungarians. Rumania's unwillingness to compromise is the basis for the animosity and hostility that exists between Rumanians & Hungarians.

With territorial and cultural autonomy, it does not naturally follow the integrity of the Romanian state will be modified or changed.
All that will happen is that Szeklers would be permitted to rule themselves independently of Romanian laws. Period. That's it. Danger to Romanians = 0.
With this independent Szekler government, the Romanian govbernment will no longer be able to arbitrarily remove elected Szekler government leaders from their majority elected posts to be replaced by Romanian government officials, as recently happened in Romania.
That seems to be a "sore" spot for the Romanian givernment, Baisescu in particular, and nteworthy to mention, the Nova Dreapta. They are terrifying the Romanian public with nightmarish fantasies of what will happen if the Szeklers are granted autonomy. Sad to see, a sorrowful commentary on Romanian government policies.
I think Romanians should not have a fear of separatism because territorial autonomy is a well-know institution in Europe and it works fine. Romania cannot just violate the rights of such a big compact Hungarian population or deport them, because Europe would not let this happen.
At the other hand, the only 'weapon' to fight down ALLEGED separatism is granting autonomy. Feeling themselves as 2nd class citizens in Romania, will always reinforce separatism.
Thank you for viewing and commenting on my video. It is my belief that Romanians at large are unfamiliar with the concept AND practice of territorial autonomy. They operate under the misconception that Romania will lose territory if it grants autonomy to the Szeklers. Sadly, many of them have access only to information disseminated by the Romanian media, most of whom are under the control of a few media magnates and-or the Romanian government.
If they were better educated (generally and specifically), such confusion and misunderstanding could be eliminated, if not altogether have been avoided in the first place.

It is now generally accepted that they are descendants of Hungarians (or of Magyarized Turkic peoples) transplanted to the eastern Carpathians to guard the frontier, their name meaning simply “frontier guards”. Their organization was historically of the Turkic type, and they are probably of at least partially Turkic stock. There is historical evidence that the Székelys were part of the Avar confederation during the so-called Dark Ages. By the 11th century they had adopted the Hungarian language.

There is NO REASON under Rumanian law that autonomy could not be granted. Rumanians were moved in to Transylvania from other parts of Rumania during the communist period to prevent Hungarian majorities in those areas.

Rumania could make peace with Hungary through compromise, if it would consider alternatives that are very real and practical, and would prove to be agreeable to the majority of Hungarians. Rumania's unwillingness to compromise is the basis for the animosity and hostility that exists between Rumanians & Hungarians.

Their economies are suffering, their lifestyles are on a low-income level. Can that explain why Rumania is struggling to climb out of its poverty?

hungarians want autonomy, they want the Romanians to stand by and move goods around without paying taxes or charged , the Roamnians even have to provide a corridor for the hungarians to move through ! are you hungarians for real , do you live in the real world?

@thracusspartacus: Don't make it sound like Szekler autonomy would be such an act of charity or mercy on the part of Rumanians. The Rumanian people have to do nothing, except not stand in their way. Can they manage to do nothing? I think so, Rumanians are capable of a great many things, even doing nothing!

can someone tell me, what Hungarians will win if they will have autonomy?
Cause i see only disadvantages like
-investors will avoid that area due to ethnic conflicts
-the infrastructure for that area will be stop by Romania, even an economical embargo for that region
-Romanians won't build anymore roads and highways there
-Harghita and Covasna budgets are low they depend on the money that comes from Bucharest
-people won't buy anymore Szekely products
etc
what's the gain?

what? Hungarians are minorities in Romania, Szekely are 600,000 people surrounded by 7 million Romanians they have minority rights, school rights, they have their language intact

Even the title is manipulating...I so the movie it doesn't answer my questions. Is like: we want authonomy becouse others have and becouse romanians fear us. And more: we want to integrate in all romanians structures and regions of Romania freely but no romanian must came to live and work in "our region". We don't want to speak romanian but romanians MUST be forced to speak magyar.

If the direction of trhe ethnic minority Hungarians living in Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia followed my preferences, then you would be correct. However, since I am considered to be an "extremist" by these nationalities, it is unlikely that they will listen to my rhetoric, so Romania is safe from your paranoid delusions. If you want to territy yourself, be my guest, but your fears have no basis in facts.

Szekler Autonomous territory does not mean it will be attached to Hungary.
Just take a look at Germany: they dont annect Switzerland, Austria or Liechtenstein. They are separate countries but speaking the same language.

Sorry to say, it is a sad fact that your paranoid delusional. You hear what you want to hear, you see what what you want to see, and your fear is that everyone is out to get you. Things couldn't be farther from the truth, although even if one is paranoid, it does not mean that others are not out to get him. :))))
With territorial and cultural autonomy, it does not naturally follow the integrity of the Romanian state will be modified or changed.

All that will happen is that Szeklers would be permitted to rule themselves independently of Romanian laws. Period. That's it. Danger to Romanians = 0.
With this independent Szekler government, the Romanian govbernment will no longer be able to arbitrarily remove elected Szekler government leaders from their majority elected posts to be replaced by Romanian government officials, as recently happened in Romania.

That seems to be a "sore" spot for the Romanian givernment, Baisescu in particular, and nteworthy to mention, the Nova Dreapta. They are terrifying the Romanian public with nightmarish fantasies of what will happen if the Szeklers are granted autonomy. Sad to see, a sorrowful commentary on Romanian government policies.

I think Romanians should not have a fear of separatism because territorial autonomy is a well-know institution in Europe and it works fine. Romania cannot just violate the rights of such a big compact Hungarian population or deport them, because Europe would not let this happen.
At the other hand, the only 'weapon' to fight down ALLEGED separatism is granting autonomy. Feeling themselves as 2nd class citizens in Romania, will always reinforce separatism.

Thank you for viewing and commenting on my video. It is my belief that Romanians at large are unfamiliar with the concept AND practice of territorial autonomy. They operate under the misconception that Romania will lose territory if it grants autonomy to the Szeklers. Sadly, many of them have access only to information disseminated by the Romanian media, most of whom are under the control of a few media magnates and-or the Romanian government.
