@X9000BulletsX I firmly agree, I emphatically state as an American if the Marines would have gone up against battle hardened SS divisions from the Das Reich, Totenkopf or Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler it would be tough but the marines would have lost. People don't know these divisions from the SS and GroBdeutschland division were so fierce, most of them were and had to be destroyed by air. Russians died in much greater numbers due to a poor air-force and lack of concern for soldiers.

The US aren't benevolent in any way, the sole purpose of rebuilding Germany was to build a wall against the Soviets. It was a strategic and political consideration and not benevolence.
