I the state of colorado it has been illegal to perfom head shot since 1952 due ti the risk of a slight miss and hitting some other part of the head and not the brain wich leads to fatal slow death over the course of several weaks where the animal cannot eat or dring due to facial muscle damag. In Wyoming and Colorado this is punishable by up to 250,000 $ fine and a life time suspension of rights to hunt in the state and license.
