Awesome to see you showing these people TWH's can do Anything any other breed can do~! What 99% don't know or ever look up is that: the Tennessee Walking Horse is a composition of Narragansett and Canadian Pacer, Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Morgan, and American Saddlebred stock. Originally bred as a utility horse! Once you ride one, you'll own one, Guaranteed! Keep up the great work with that fine looking TWH there :))
first time for both?? they look really good for their first time. that horse is beautiful. i have a 15.1HH TWH gelding that can jump up to 4', maybe even higher. i also run barrels with him. he loves his job. Tenn. Walkers are amazing horses & can do anything. congrats on the placing too. :)
@LRCG09 - My TWH stallion jumped out of his fence & never touched any of it. He was less than 1 y/o when he did that. He's like 15.1 and now a 15 y/o, as well as over weight...lol! They can do anything, any other breed can! Not only that, they give us the ride of a Cadillac, compared to a dump truck, when it comes to trail or endurance riding! Once you ride a TWH, you'll be looking to own one, guaranteed! :))
I had a crop in hand on this course in the picture of us leaving the ring at 2:03 you can see the crop in my hand. My horse does not yet know flying leads so he was preforming simple chances which is aloud at the level i was riding at the time.
Note: Walking horses can trot. They can also pace, running walk, rack, fox trot, canter, and if required, jump beautifully! Very well done. The challenge is getting those gaits on command. It's like driving a car with a LOT of gears! My son's Pusher bred mare has a lovely long trot, and a running walk. ! You and your horse are lovely, and clearly you can jump much higher than you exhibited this time. We look forward to seeing more shows!
I want to get my walker to jump and be able to show him, he's very good, but in my state (which is Tennessee of all things) they won't let me jump him in my local shows. D:
just dont tell them! once your in the ring go round quick before they tell you to leave :) i do that, my pony is in a dr cook bridle (bitless) for things where your supposed to have a bit, we just walk past all the officials quickly :) works like a charm, they dont see anything unless they are already looking for it, trick is not to set them looking :D
My Diesel is a TWH and he trots, racks, paces, runnin' walks, and lopes. A lot of people think they can't, but they can. Also, as you can see in this video, Walkers jump just as well as any other horse. :3
I'll take your word for it, but at this show which was "B" rated there was only children's hunters for riders under 18 (no pre-childrens) and the courses were 2'3" and 2'6". :-) we would have jumped higher if they let us... lol
I don't really know if he is 100% Walker but he is pretty close. I took him to a really great trainer who works with gaited horses. Watch when he is walking out of the ring, he has the TWH head nod.
I remember watching the jumping here and i saw all the horses getting spooked at the wishing well jump. It was at the july sho 08 and it looked frusterating!
Thank you for commenting my walker horse Rebel. I see that you have a very beautiful walker and talneted as well. Your walker trots, while mine paces. I 've never shown before, I was wondering if in a hunter show like you were, Does a horse need to trot or can he pace? Rebel canter, but paces.
Actually if you look really carefully, he paces a little bit before picking up his canter to come down the last outside line. He used to pace and never trot, I took him to an amazing trainer!
Yes, your horse will have to trot to be able to compete. I remember a judge told my daughter she couldn't place her until Bullwinkle trotted without pacing. She cried so hard after that class.
@FredRockyBullwinkle i went to a show after calling the woman hosting on the phone and she spited me because shouldn't tell the diffrence between his running walk and canter :[ it wuz my first show to and i think we did great so those people are just plain rude i love this walker tho!! I am to training my walker to hunter jump :D
ur horse is beautiful.... he/she is a very good jumper for being a Tenessee Walker... good job to you both..

he dosn't do a running walk is he not a pure bred or something because to be registerd they can not be paints!
Throughbred101 3 years ago
He does do a running walk. He is not a paint he is a sabino, a very normal coloring in TWH.
jumpevenhigher 3 years ago
Oh I'm sorry if i offended you I just have never seen a TWH that color! And i've never seen them trot how did you teach him?
Throughbred101 3 years ago
It's natural.

What rating do you show? This was not an "A" rated show.
jumpevenhigher 3 years ago
even in the local shows childrens is 3 foot and pre childrens is 2'6
AveryW2012 3 years ago
I'll take your word for it, but at this show which was "B" rated there was only children's hunters for riders under 18 (no pre-childrens) and the courses were 2'3" and 2'6". :-) we would have jumped higher if they let us... lol

Thank you! He switched leads just in the front over the last jump and then has to do a little hop to come down to the trot. It's really funny...
