He caused the bitter jury in Samoa because he decided to throw away the game on day 39. In Heroes vs. Villains, he got to the end because he would lose to everyone. While he certainly is a great player, he seemed to think Parvati was riding his coattails when really he was riding hers.

Voting himself out was a stupid move. Christina already made it clear that she was gonna flip to Ozzys tribe. Now imagine what would have happened if he didn´t pull that move.
Cochran would have been voted out. The player that they trusted the least would have been gone. Christina would have beaten Cochran and would have stayed with Ozzys tribe, therefore they would still have had the numbers and an even more solid tribe. No flipping danger. The outcome was predictable...
Ok well but that didn´t happen so lets continue with Ozzys genius mind.
What is the next thing he does? He goes to Cochran, the player everybody was afraid to flip and asks him to become a spy on the other tribe. Really? You don´t go to the player you trust the least and tell him to spy on the other team. He went to Cochran and the conversation was basicly like this:
Cochrans betrayal was also kinda his fault. Ozzy never bullied Cochran but Jim, Keith and Whitney did. And Ozzy never did anything agains it. After Elyse was voted out and Ozzy apologized to his tribe, he became the leader or at least the most respected person among the tribe. He could have easily prevented The three of them to bully Cochran which could have ensured his loyalty. Coaches tribe never even thought about flipping because Coach treated everyone with respect.
The Ozzy was voted out and went to RI. Of course he beats everybody which I admit was awesome. So he returns back to the game and what does he do? Instead of becomming friends with everyone he acts like a total jerk. He starts bitching around and bullies Sophie because he was so sure that he would win final Immunity and win this game. So he doesn´t win and gets voted out again. Oh and did I forget to mention his Oscar worthy performance after he voted himself out? XD
Ozzy is not a good player. he is the most physical but that is not the most important part of Survivor. RI was the perfect twist for Ozzy. Last year I was thinking that if Ozzy would compete on RI he would finally win because this is like his only ticket to make it further in the game. I was proved wrong because even RI doesn´t help you when you are only a physical player not a smart one.

I loved Russell in Samoa and Heroes vs. Villains but on Redemption Island I finally saw how bad his strategy really is and how its the same every season. I hated Rob in every season except Redemption, that was truly his season when his style of game play finally paid off. I must say ultimately Rob is the best at this game, better than Sandra for sure.

Ozzy-Great Physial Player but crappy Strategist, Johnny Fair Play- decent in Pearl Islands but his quitting at the beginning of Fans vs Favs knocks him out,, Colby Ok in Outback but compared to people who have played since he's an amateur as his over confidence in All Stars and utter lack of play in Heroes vs Villians demonstrates, Amanda-could play people like fiddles but her guilt did her in, Lex good player, the rest a all great, but I'm out of characters, lol.

The two best players in Survivor history in terms of how to play the game not in popularity terms is Richard Hatch and Russel Hantz... hands down they played the game the best.
i think parvati should be here as well as brian (who won survivor thailand). parvati is one of the best social players in the game and brian had an almost perfect season in thailand.
@ipodnano4334 10. Russell- went into the merge with 4 players compare dot the other tribes 8 and made his own tribe the final 4. Would have won 2 back to back survivors if people did not get butthurt and voted emotionally.

fairplay lost his best player accolade when he quit season 16 he may have been voted out but he asked everyone to and pretty much laid down and gave up his 2nd time
If I had to choose 10 people I would want to play the game with it would be: Rudy from Borneo, Mike from Australia, Frank from Africa, Bob from Gabon, Terry from Exile Island, Butch from Amazon, Coach from Tocantins, Yau Man from Fiji, and Tom from Palua. Great people in my opinion and hard workers. I would get along with them, thats what qualifies being a great Survivor, in my opinion of course.

@IceYourPimpHand Well you have to consider all factor. Russell had seen Rob play twice before. No one had seen Russell play. Rob played an outstanding game in HvV. His idea to split the votes was genius. It would have taken Russell out if it werent for Tyson who flipped his vote.
Russell relies on idols too much. Rob got to the end in RI without ever really needing his idol.
And the cop-out argument is to say that Rob won and Rusell never has.
@Josh54152 idols are apart of the game, if you have a problem with that, watch big brother instead, and russell outsmarted that "genius" idea by tricking Tyson, so Russell obviously comes out looking good. He does not have backup plans. Rob does; when Ashley won immunity, he went after Grant, he could also have gott Natalie or even Phillip. And you can still argue that Russell is the better player. Its really close between them.

In RI, you're right, idol or no idol, it wouldn't had done much, but it would had saved him 2 tribal councils if he played more of a indivisual game, instead of going down for his alliance, he could had voted stephanie's name, she would go home, and he can play it for himself the next time, and how does Russell not have back up plans? Each season he had to use back ups, just like Rob does.

First he wanted to gain control of his tribe. When his tribe saw through it and voted out Elyse. Then Ozzy started crying about it
"Boohoo I don´t trust you anymore boohoo I´m on my own now and you can´t vote me out anyway because I have the Isol so good luck boohoo"
Next day he was like "Oh shit what have I done" so he started sucking their kneecaps again.
Next move. Vote your self out to beat Christina.

@jusdepoisson rupert only did good in the firrt season and he was voted rather early on in that season, the other two seasons he played in he was absolutely terrible.

WHat about Parvarti? She was the mastermind in micronesia and she got erik to give up his immunity necklace and get himself voted out. I would take Amanda off this list. Yes, she made it to the end twice, only, in my opinion, because she doesn't make anyone mad. She rides coattails... she rode Todd's and then Parvarti's.

@ManUtd01109 i agree that Amanda shouldn't be on the list, she claims herself strategic although all she does is ride coattails, breaking down every tribal, poor social game, poor opening statement in Fans vs Favorites (in fact poor performance in every final tribal)
in fact if you go to CBS.com on the female casts of the current season, i read the girls want to be either like Parvati or Stephenie... no one wanted to be like Amanda

The two best players in Survivor history in terms of how to play the game not in popularity terms is Richard Hatch and Russel Hantz... hands down they played the game the best.

i think parvati should be here as well as brian (who won survivor thailand). parvati is one of the best social players in the game and brian had an almost perfect season in thailand.

@ipodnano4334 10. Russell- went into the merge with 4 players compare dot the other tribes 8 and made his own tribe the final 4. Would have won 2 back to back survivors if people did not get butthurt and voted emotionally.

If I had to choose 10 people I would want to play the game with it would be: Rudy from Borneo, Mike from Australia, Frank from Africa, Bob from Gabon, Terry from Exile Island, Butch from Amazon, Coach from Tocantins, Yau Man from Fiji, and Tom from Palua. Great people in my opinion and hard workers. I would get along with them, thats what qualifies being a great Survivor, in my opinion of course.

PPL prolly wonder why Russel isnt in my top 5. Well thats simple because he will never ever have a shot at winning the way he plays. His social game is terrible, his physical game is below average and his stategic game is terrible, he likes to blindside ppl and then expect to get there vote at the end which is a terrible strategic game

The only acceptable reason why Russell is not #1 is because he didn't win... yet. He has been the most entertaining, Machiavellian, bold and creative player in the history of the game, hands down!
Look at the bore-fest that was the last survivor season when the hick tribe stupidly threw a challenge and got rid of Russell. Like I expected, they got picked of one by one. Dumbest tribe in the history of the game.I cracked up the way Russell mentally abused that hillbilly when he left...

@IceYourPimpHand Well you have to consider all factor. Russell had seen Rob play twice before. No one had seen Russell play. Rob played an outstanding game in HvV. His idea to split the votes was genius. It would have taken Russell out if it werent for Tyson who flipped his vote.
Russell relies on idols too much. Rob got to the end in RI without ever really needing his idol.
And the cop-out argument is to say that Rob won and Rusell never has.

It took Rob 10 fucking years to win, and they had to put him in a spineless tribe just to win yet russ was in a tribe with idiot adults, Russell OWNS that bitch Rob, he's proved it, Rob hasn't.

@IceYourPimpHand Allright look it man, I never said idols were not part of the game. All I said is Russell relies on them too much. He could get it in RI and the zapeterians took him out and even if he had found it he could only have saved himself, not his alliance.
He does not have backup plans. Rob does; when Ashley won immunity, he went after Grant, he could also have gott Natalie or even Phillip. And you can still argue that Russell is the better player. Its really close between them.

@Josh54152 exactly, Idols are apart of the game, and Russell knows how to play them better than anybody. In RI, you're right, idol or no idol, it wouldn't had done much, but it would had saved him 2 tribal councils if he played more of a indivisual game, instead of going down for his alliance, he could had voted stephanie's name, she would go home, and he can play it for himself the next time, and how does Russell not have back up plans? Each season he had to use back ups, just like Rob does.
