Those will light up the tires with a 383 too, even a mid 1970s era 440 has no trouble doing a smoke show, those Chrysler big blocks were monsters for torque.
Take a good look... people today are lucky to see a 68' Chrysler doing a burnout.
While back in the day this was no street fighters idea of a fast beast ( I routinely whipped up on a 69 Chrysler with the TNT 440 going at it with a 66' 442 sporting the rare tri carb setup) They were and still are an american icon in my opinion. Hey.. if you're burning rubber then hats off to you!!!!! Keep em running!!!!
A 68 300 weights 3800-4000 lbs,and with around 400 hp and 500 ftlbs of torque it is a high 12-low 13 second 1/4 mile car with 3.23 and a good driver who knows how to handle the tire spin..We raced these when new back in the late 60's and throughout the 70's..cant go by old road tests, skinny tires of the day and bias ply would spin forever..thus lowering the recorded times..
my dads 1966 chrysler new yorker will smoke u all its got a 400hp 440ci built up trans and engine by nascar engine builder just a crazy sound and nice car
400hp 440 built buy a nascar engine builder? me and my dad built a chevy 454 in our garage with some machining with 450 to 500 hp? id ask for my money back
what nascar team would have any idea how to build a 440 Wedge unless someone in the shop is a specialist ?? NAscar engines are absolutely amd completely different than a 440 engine first developed WAYYYY back in the late 50's at the 383 and 361. low block or "B" engine. and 400hp is pathetic for a 440... you can get 450by by simply bolting on Edlebrock aluminum heads and a nice cam... my `72 Cuda has both and a few more bits and it's making 557hp at the crank. and it's anvil reliable.
GET A LIFE PEOPLE its got a fuking mild cam and it makes 400hp and it was built by a nascar engine builder not a nascar engine genius and he was out building engines for only a year and my dad got him at the right time hes in florida now
I have several Mopars and I love my C bodies people dont think they are fast cause they are so long and with wider tires,we run high 12's in the 1/4 with a BONE STOCK 1970 2 door 300 with a 440 TNT,3.23 rear gear motor never touched. I ran 14 flat with a 383 4bbl Newport with 2.76 rear gears..a 4 door 383 2bbl parts car out runs our new at the time 03 Grand Cherokee 4.7 h.o that is tested (motorweek) at 6.7 0-60 and a 290,000 mi beater beat it 3 times by a nose...
Its a 1968 Chrysler 300. All 68 300's came with a 440. There were two different HP versions this is the high HP TNT. C-body just means big Chrysler like Newport, 300, etc.
I said in an earlier post that this car can do 0 -- 60 then back to 0 in 7 seconds. I recently put used retread slicks from the 60s on this car after I had 4.10 and suregrip installed at Randy's. This car now does a certified 0 -- 60 to 0 in 6.435 seconds. Thank God I have headrests on this beast as I am sure I would get whiplash otherwise. This car now does 0 -- 60 in 4.0132 seconds.
No it doesn't. Post a video in the car watching the speedo and then I will believe it. Otherwise you are talking nonsense. I own one of these cars. It is nowhere near 4 second 0-60.
Typically to be running mid 14s in the 1/4 you'll be doing 60mph in 6 seconds or less. Unless you spin for the first half and then build up speed at the very end.
Look, he said 0 - 60 and back to 0 in 7 seconds. Impossible. Show me just one undoctored vid or make one of your own. One wheel peel and stoneage brakes....come on. No way, ever. And since you've moved this on to name-calling in a truly intellectual bid to look smart, who's the dumbass.
it's possible, but the only way it could be done would be to put sticky tires on it, run it up to 60, which would take about 7 seconds, then slam it into a wall.. back to 0 !!
My first car was also a 68 300. it was MM1 with the 350h.p. 440. I had the little 14 inch wheels with drums all around. I got it back in 94 that thing ate money.
yeah, i could smoke the right rear at will as long as i was under about 40mph. if above 40mph you could apply a little brake and gas at the same time and it would start smoking again. lots of power to be applying to one tire.

A 440 hi po has 420 hp and 500 torque..
Rated at 375 hp and 480 torque,to throw off competition and lower the insurance costs..
The non hp 440 had 350 rated hp,but closer to 375 hp..
Engine builders today lower the compression from 10:! to in the 8's and 9's thus lowering hp and torque...
Hell I build a 450 hp 318 in the 1980's..
I build many 440's,hotter cam,little head work and its a 500+hp beast..

These cars haul !!!
0-60 is in the 4 sec range..
they tested these cars spinning the tires,as they do when you floor it from a start and even a 15-20 mph roll they spin the tires..
People dont know how powerful these cars are, unless you owned one, that wasnt thrashed...

Could you give me a hint where to find a 3000-4000km piece of road (preferrably straight and without any intersections) to try this out?
When you pay for the fuel I'd even consider taking you on the trip :D
