  • what they should of done is put full braking on just after all the rockets went on because that's what happened in the original myth the tyres and brakes dissitergrated and then the car took off

  • It seems they edited the parts out where they mistakenly state this is a 65 Chev. Guess myth busters got busted!!!!!!! yeah baby.

  • just because its shown in the UK, they have to use a voice over with a British accent?

  • @imjustwonderful Can you say that again? I'm having trouble with your accent.

  • @IIIIIbarcodeIIIII lol. but seriously, do you think its that big of a deal that they need a different voice actor? just clarifying, british accents are cool. my favorite tv show is british. (top gear)

  • @imjustwonderful Me 3! JC forever, hah. As long as I can understand it, that's all that matters.

  • @IIIIIbarcodeIIIII Clarkson is too funny. but all three of em make a great show.

  • @imjustwonderful Yeah it's that chemistry, true passion and the smarts to keep the production team young and fresh that makes TG the best show... IN THE WORLD!

  • I love this BBC edit :D

  • fuck NO2 i want those

  • Amazing put it on iTunez

  • No better job then theres.

  • Where did they get the arbitrary 3000hp figure from?!

  • @HonestJack Fairly easy to calculate if you know th power output of the rockets.

  • Why the bloody hell is this britt doing the narration?

And my GOD Adam got old. But he's still as quirky as myth 1.

  • @jakeh2034= Cause it's edited for the BBC.

  • On every list?? Yeah, for new ideas !!!!!

  • im not use to this narrator...

  • how was this gonna take off without a ramp? I say more rockets, wings for lift, and a huge ass ramp =D

  • Mythbusters is best when only Adam and Jamie do everything and Robin Banks is the narrator.

  • The real rocket car incident was much less impressive than the myth, the car (a 1952 Ford) flew about 10 feet into the air and collided with a tree and the guy who stole the rocket wasn't foolish enough to actually sit inside the car with the JATO running. With subsequent retellings the guy died, the Ford became a Chevrolet Impala and the tree became a cliff.

  • @TashkentFox Interesting! Whats your source?

  • So, how fast did it go?

  • "Well, these are actually more powerful than the JATOS."

"But they're smaller, how is that possible?"

"Well, uh, we're going to use more of them."

  • @arrrgh22 gay

  • Comment removed

  • d@nm!

  • i could think of a hundred different vehicles to use for this instead of a classic Impala. idiots, and yes i know it wasn't altered enough to seriously damage the vehicle but ...

  • The Impala is only good as a lowrider, nothing else.

  • I was expecting a complete and total wreck of the car.

  • i think that this guy is british, so bitrish version of the narrator

  • whats up with the narrator

  • since the car didnt get smashed or anything.. one of them should have sat in the car and feel the intense speed!! :D

  • don't think they get paid enough :)

  • i wanna see that in the next fast and furious

  • They practically created the myth... Adam and Jamie acted in a movie called "The Darwin Awards" (2006) and in that movie they sold a Jato rocket to a gay who strapped it to his car and took off

  • @blobber01 i watched that the other day and was cracking up at it!

  • that movie owns :D

  • the darwin awards movie got the myth from the darwin awards you retard

the jato award is from like 10 years ago

  • when i read about this myth at school, apparently the guy drove off a cliff and then it flew. so they should have had it go off a ramp or something

  • i wish i culd hav bin in da car i wuld hav yeld YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!

  • i don't like the narrorator

  • So they used rockets with a little over one seventh the power of a JATO, and fired 3 in a row, rather than all at once, and they're surprised it didn't take off or reach 300mph?

What was the point of this series again?

Misrepresent the 'Myth', simulate their misrepresentation of it and then high five each other a lot?

I know the JATO myth was complete fiction but these wankstains weren't even trying!

Neuter the noisy ginger one and send the gay one to a barber. You could make a reality show.

  • they should've driven it off a cliff. see if it could sustain air time.

  • V-tec just kicked in bro!

  • These guys are probably on every imaginable government list by now

  • They should have made two of them and raced them. lol

  • does it really matter?

  • Never said it mattered, it's just odd.

  • the narrator sounds more australian than british

  • you must have never, ever met an Australian. He sounds 100 % British pom, nothing like an Aussie.

    Yes, I am Australian!

  • r u retarded? lol

  • okay, I'm an ignorant american. sue me

  • They screwed up. They bought a redneck car. See how the ass end is jacked up in the air? That kept the force of the Jato's down on the car and kept it on the ground. Any normal car and it would have been flying off into space. True story.

  • But that was the Myth, there would've been no reason to use another car but the Impala.

  • Though my statement is grounded in some truth, being that all Impalas were manufactured with a rear end riding at a standard altitude, you totally missed the sarcasm. Try again, there are some clues.

  • why no pistol-type remote control?

  • I think these guys might have the best job on earth.

  • So how fast did the car go?

  • is that even actually an impala??

  • yes thats an impala its just old as fuck

  • forget nitro ill get hobbie rockets

  • yeesawz guys, this guy is from Bryne ,Telemark in north norway,Im 140 percent short.

  • to joeseohduont, haha, yeh why not.I wish I was in that car,it would have been fuckin funny.

  • Back in the day when the show was almost a documentary

  • I don't get it. What did they learn?

  • they learn that a car dose not fall apart if it has engens on it

  • They were testing the myth of whether a) a JATO rocket could propel a car up to 300 miles per hour and, b) the momentum of the car could carry it into a mountain. A driver purportedly attached JATO rockets to his car and crashed into a mountain at 300 mph.

  • so why not use this remote control technology to save our troops in iraq??? PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.

  • Make a proposal. What would be remote controlled? Even if the troop vehicles are remote, you still need troops in them to...do stuff.

  • There are many remote controled devices being developed by the military, just look it up on youtube.

  • i wounder what season this episode is. I tried searching for the episode on the internet but it never tell me what season. So please help or give me the website for help!!!

  • 15 seconds of googling turned up that this was the first episode of the first season, aired on 01/23/2003. For a complete episodes list, search for "mythbusters episodes" on the English Wikipedia.

  • pilots. it was the first myth on mythbusters..

  • LOL who the HELL would mix English and Aussie up HAHAHAHAHAHA :=P Anyway, in the story the car did 600mph before crashing

  • wow. no. it did 420 Kph.

  • man im aussie and i no what we sound like that is a brit

  • Now is that a 67' Impala cause it looks alot or maybe just a bit like a 67' Caprice?

  • That looks like the place where the Knight Rider intro was filmed.

  • i love impalas

  • he said choppa

  • he said choppa

  • I`ve no problem with the narrator being british but his voice sounds kinda irritating to me. It just doesn`t fit.

  • Yeah, i myself like most brit-voiced programs, but this one doesn't really fit the atmosphere and the level of seriousness (or lack of) that Mythbusters are known for.

I hope they bring back the old narrator.

  • He's not British he's an Ausse.

  • Really? I stand corrected.

  • he's not an Aussie, he's from Laaaaaaaandon!

  • Make up your mind guys!

Whatever! Either an Aussie or British, I still prefer the other narrator!

  • English

  • No, he sounds more northern, um maybe sort of Bucks, Oxford ish.

  • No hes english

  • no hes not oxford its not like posh enough (im from oxford)

more northern but now live in london

  • whats with the brit-sounding narrator?

  • perhaps he's british - 60 million people are and it's a piss small island to keep them all in - some escape from time to time ;-)

  • Its tru that most of englands a shit hole

but some places like guildford near london (where i live) and some other places have life expectancys of about 90 and 99.98% of educated people

  • i think the revisit would be awesome if it didnt explode

  • need bigger rockets for 350 mph

  • Old Chevy's never die, they just go faster!

  • HAHAHAHHA! YES we have the profe

  • Can I buy it? I want to go to McSonalds

  • you should not call this JATO

    the vehicle never took off

  • Well you know, JATO aren't made to push the plane up, they're made to provide aditional trust. If a JATO was positioned horizontaly under a plane, it would just have pushed him forward, not toward the air.

  • some JATO systems actually induce upward thrust. regardless JATO is not correct as it does not provide take off aid, NOR does it use jet engines as the acronym implies. if anything this would be closer to a RATO system, yet it still does not provide aid to short field take off needs.

  • You're overlooking the wording. This show tries to debunk myths. "Jato powered Impala myth" is the name of the myth they're trying to debunk; so the title is correct. (They had to settle for other type of propulsion because they couldn't procure an actual jato.) I realize that I'm nit-picking, but.... so were you.

  • Why did they need remote control? I would have driven it.

  • The rocket fuel would have exploded there wouldn't have been much left to find of the driver... nor the interior of the car...

  • Insurance problem.

  • I don't know how important the make and model of the car is to the myth, but that car looked like a '72 Dodge or something else equally collectable. The idea of welding tubes and framing to this car is sacriledge.

  • It was a 66 Chevy Impala, and yes, it is to bad they did that. The 66 is one of the less valuable of the 60's impalas, but it is still a classic. I bet it might be worth more now that it has history. I'm glad it didn't wreck.

  • its just a Stupid old car, "USers" love crap!

  • So, if you happen to own something like... a Corvette Stingray, or a Superbird, or even just a hemi charger or some stupid old car like that you want to get rid of, let me know.

  • Fuck new cars.

  • MORE than likely, this is a clip from the Discovery Channel's show "Beyond Tomorrow" which does have a British commentator. They use clips from Mythbusters.

  • U sure it wasnt just a UK aired mythbusters? that uses as British commentator.

  • Quite sure.

  • thats actually australian

  • This exact show played in the US but with the normal commentator. This would not be UK because the use MPH not kilometers.

  • on the version I saw they said the chopper had a top speed of 340 miles per hour and the car was going faster than that because it ditched it for a few seconds.

  • Yeah...Nah. If the version you've seen uses the same type of helicopter, an R44 (helicopter in this clip), it has a Vne of 120Kts or 222.24 Kilometres per hour or 193.12 statute miles per hour...

  • Yups. The britsh version has this commentator. I live there :)

  • maybe***

  • yea mabey

  • no I don't think the commentator is the right one, I've seen the episode in the US and he has no accent

  • yea i live in the U.S but the narrerator has no accent well not to me atleast!

  • yeah this is probably broadcasted over seas or something. the UK maybe?

  • this sounds like richard hammond

  • This was recorded from the version of the Discovery Channel that is available in the UK and Ireland so I guess they don't use the original voiceover on some things that are shown on it. I don't know who did the voiceover in this clip, but to me it doesn't sound quite like Richard Hammond.

  • It's probably not the Hamster - but wouldn't it be great if the guys from mythbusters and the guys from top gear did a show together?

  • no it doesn't, no way close to Richard. this guy has a deeper voice then the Hamster and plus this dude has more accent then Richard does.

  • Who the hell is Richard, Do you know him personally? you sound like you played ball with him when you were kids, Moron, Richard this Richard that, how Richard likes to be Sucked??? Answer Ace!!!!

  • I can't remember, do they usully have a British or Aussie commentator?

  • No. This is the version aired in the UK.
