I have watched Santos for 2 years. He is a left back. Defensive skills ok. Attacking skills outstanding for a left back. he has got a great midfielder abilities like ball controls, dribble,shooting, scoring. He can be very effective if he used while attacking. this is also what makes him special. i think he can play any top teams in the word like barca, real m. only thing that should be whatched out is beginning of the season. when he comes back from holiday he is pretty much over weight.

He has played his first year (2009-2010) at the position LMF, but the previous year (2010-2011), he played LB, last one is much better choice. For me he is one of the best LB in the world. Great technique, shooting, passing and crossing with his left. Good in defence, amazing in attack, u'll see him fly at the left side by each attack of Arsenal. Feeling very sad now as a Fenerbahçe fan:( Wishing much success at Arsenal!

His attacking play is very good. There aren't many fullbacks who can score the goal he does at 2:07. But just like any modern day, highly rated fullback, he also does mistakes now and then, such as against Germany. But dont let it fool you, he's better then Clichy, in both attack and defence.

I hope you are right but I don't think clichy is weak defensively. I doubt we will see him make as many mistakes for city as he did for arsenal because they defend better as a team and he will be given more protection from the midfield and be put under less pressure. He was great in 07/08 when we had a more defensive formation with more conscientious midfielders ahead of him and flamini constantly hounding the opposition. He only played worse since we changed tactics.
