  • Interesting that early in the 20th century otters were considered to be in the "bear tribe" while in fact they're web-footed carnivores!

  • Actually, otters are in the same family as weasels, related to badgers, and bears are something else altogether... as are the "web footed carnivores" the seals.

    The Wikipedia page for "carnivora" is fascinating.

  • yes, the film was made 15 years before sound film was invented.

  • Wow! this was filmed in the same year that the Titanic sank. Amazing stuff.

  • "...it also eats pikes and eels which levy toll on the trout..." - a better time. They probably weren't so rare back then - only place I've seen any is the Buckfast otter sanctuary.
