  • Nice one, I use something called the MAYA44, meaning you don't have to connect two of those soundcards together.

  • @hojdog Yeah I'm looking into getting one of those, a lot of people have recommended the maya44. its definitely another good option for audio interfacing.

    Thanks for your comment.

    Nice One ; )

  • Nice Room

  • cheers mate.

i have a numark mixtrack and just use traktor. i ordered a stereo io recently. it has line level and phono inputs so i dunno if i can connect a mic to it or how i would really use it :s got it off ebay in a rush thinking it was the dj io haha

  • Hey grate video by the way would this following setup work:

Usb sound card ( the one in ur video )

    laptop built in sound card

    external 6 channel mixer

    numark DJ2GO

    3.5mm jack to 2 RCA x 2

RCA to RCA (dunno how many)

    thanks

  • @Mattythemodable Yeah, the DJ2GO means that you have control over your software.

You could use the audio interface as your main audio out going to your speakers and the laptop on-board sound card as the head phones and your good to go, nice easy compact set-up. I like your thinking. I might get one of those DJ2GO things my self just to see what they are like and do a review on it, there quite cheap.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • Hey, good video. I'm new to djing and I was curious about if there is really a need for a mixer when virtualdj comes with a mixer on it. It just seems to me like it's spending more money than you need to.

  • @RJCcomedy24680 you're absolutely right, there is no need for a mixer when VDJ has one, if you like/can use the mixer in VDJ than that's cool, you don't have to buy a mixer. But some people, including me rather the hands on feel of a mixer. you tend to find its the DJ's that grew up using decks and a mixer that will rather a mixer, when I started DJ'ing there was no VDJ so I'm used to hardware, other than that you can use the one but in.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • @Pixelpc Thank you, I'm glad the video was of some use.

    Thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • Thanks very much for the video. I had been curious about how to run this kind of setup for a while. I had no idea that I could actually run my basic PC sound card in 6 channel mode...Good to know! I use Traktor software for my DJing and I've just been using an external midi controller (a Hercules RMX to be exact) to control the mixing within Traktor itself. What would you say are the pros and cons of using the internal mixer vs an external setup like you do in the video?

  • hey please help! i have 2 decks but no mixer. can i connect the decks to VDJ? k thanks

  • to connect my mixer to laptop(virtual dj) would my mixer have to have phono inputs??

  • vinyl code?

  • i need some help. i got virtual dj free home software and i got mixer. can i connect my mixer to my laptop and still like play live with speakers ???

  • @djchris131 Yeah sure, as long as you have a sound card or something that can connect to your mixer.

and than there is no reason why you couldn't do that.

    thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • Plz help me ;/

I plug the two wires properly, but my controllers do not react! why?

    Plz plz help me!! ;(

  • @alexpugach Unfortunately MIDI cannot stream audio but if you need to connect midi to your laptop, go on Amozon or eBay and type "MIDI to USB adaptor" and they are chap some of them less that £10.

If you want to stream audio into the computer than you need an audio interface. also try Amazon and eBay, they are quite cheap compared to in the shops.

Hope this helped and thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • hey, this is a great tutorial, explained everything but i was just wondering can this be done with any mixer or does it have to be a midi mixer ? Thanks

  • @RobMarini1 Hi there, no just any ordinary mixer will do if you just want an external mixer.

if you want to control the faders in the virtual DJ mixer with it, than yeah you do need a MIDI compatible mixer.

but you don't need a MIDI mixer just to run as a normal DJ set-up.

hope this helped and thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • My laptop dos not have the green center output.

  • @Bsdjservice Hi there, no laptops generally don't, they might be just silver or black, but its normally the one with a headphone symbol on it.

    thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • Dude Your the Best !! I Had Spent 2000$ on all my Turntables and mixer and I was about to return it if it wasnt for this video Thanks Very good Tutorial.

  • hey! great video :) but i still have a question! i'm thinking about buying the behringer dx 2000 usb

and i want to run virtual dj with it But i only have one audiooutput in my soundcard.. the mixer has got an audio interface in it for one chanel.. my question is: is the aduio interface in the mixer the same as an external soundcard? so would it be possible for me to stream one signal of virtual dj through the normal soundcard output and one through the usb audiointerface so i could mix with it?

  • can it be done in the free version form virtual dj??

    please answer

sorry from my bad English i'm Dutch

  • awesome bro this is what i needed as all the stuff came without cables

  • Nice tutorial ! I have one question though: Is possible to link the pc to mixer as music input and let the mixer output be broadcast back through the pc, without having the input interfere? I want to DJ at an internet radiostation and I'm trying to find out what to use. Thanks in advance for your answer !

  • Hi, i have done everything what you said, but i have logitech x-350 speakers (5.1) nothing special, just computer speakers...so my question is where should I put the cables that go from the master to the speakers, I have no amp.

All speakers, front, rear, center are connected to subwoofer, all cabels are pluged into subwoofer....should I plug cables from master to subwoofer or where?

I hope you understand me,i am not soo good with tenses :)

i have a laptop hp pavillion tx2000 and soundscard uca22o, now i am playing a gig tomorrow but the way the have the sound setup is terrible with old cdjs', so i am taking my laptop and soundcard to hook up. i will follow the instructions you kindly put up for us, but with what i have will i be able to split the decks to seperate channels on the mixer with what i have, thanks

  • So.. I have a bGears bEnspirer that has 2 digi outs which I connect to my receiver/speakers and I also have the other jacks (The colorful ones. The term is escaping me ATM). Could I theoretically leave the digital hooked up and then use the standard connections to go from my mixer to the PC? Would this allow me to connect to my PC while also being able to listen to what is being played? Also, I am looking at a 3 channel mixer, so could I use up all of the jacks?? Thanks! Fantastic video BTW.

  • Nice video man, really clear and explained a ton of stuff.

  • hey i was looking at some mixers and hey i live in the U.K too and i found this mixer what aint too big but has 2 xlr inputs and 2 lots on thoose red and white input and outputs on them but because the mixer is only about £41.56 i was wondering if it was any good so could you please check it out for me i'll give you the name so you can check it thanks , BEHRINGER XENYX 802

  • ok this should be my last question if i had a mixer and ithad XLR mic inputs aswell as the rca thingy inputs if i wanted to record audio do i just plug an xlr mic in the mixer then use the cables from this mixer in to the little device then plug that in to my laptop/PC then use audacity to record because thats what i want to do

  • wow thaks a lot man this was very helpfull thanks again

  • ok can you explain why and what for do we use line 2 on the mixer???

  • Hey,

Seriously, this is one of the best tutorial i've ever seen! But I still got some question, because I want to buy a dj-set that consists of Reloop RMX-30 (mixer) and a pair of Reloop RMP-1's(CD players). But I don't want to turn with CD's, I want to play with the computer. But if I do what you explain, will everything correctly. So if I push the play button, the song plays and if I make a loop it wil do a loop?

(P.S. I hope you understand me, my English isn't very good and i'm a Dutchman)

  • @ricard0wnz yes as for connecting your computer to your mixer everything will be the same, when connecting the CD players you will need to connect it slightly differently. if you check out my video "how to do time code with CD's" that video shows you how to connect up your CD players to the computer.

once you have done this than when you press play on the player it will play on your computer and you can loop to.

thank you very much for your comment and your kind words.

    nice one!!!

  • NICE 1, GUVNA :)

  • THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH

  • You know the uca 202 can it be used as a sound card?

  • @TheJamieProsser Hi there, yes the UCA 202 is an external sound card so as soon as you connect it it just sets its self as the default sound, I actually use one as a normal sound card.

thanks for your comment and your feed back.

    nice one!!!

  • @viperfrank thanks alot man...this is what i wanted for nearly a long time...i owe ya alot mate...keep up the good work mate..

  • Hey quick question! If I connected my mixer to virtual dj like this would i be able to use my cdjs kind of like a software controller or would I just be able to use the mixer as a controller? Cheers!

  • One Question: Do I need to have an amp in order to use the mixer? OR is there something else I can use instead. I have a Speaker Buffer and two little speakers. They have a Heaphone entrance. Sorry for my bad knowledge.

  • THANK YOU FOR THE INFO. NOW! i KNOW WHAT ELSE I NEED TO SET MY DJ. -_*

  • dose this work with pioneer products as for cdj 800 mk2

  • hi mate were can i get virtual dj from do i down load it or do i have to buy it thanks

  • hi mate were can i get virtual dj from because im usin vinyl tt an dont want to buy cdjs jus yet id rather jus use mp3s wif vdj so were can get it from thanks

  • you really need to have a dedicated computer for mixing eg. no iternet and firewall and antivirus and they need usb hubs turned off and various other optimising tweeks. You really need a minimum of 3ghz cpu and 1g of ram for it to run glitch free. The belringer soundcards are blinding for the money but sound bellow par to put it nicley also I dont think you can run the latancey that quick with them either....but for the price of the set up your showing its cheap and it works...

    great video!

  • @SMERGHEED this more so applies for the last video...... time coded vinyl

  • @SMERGHEED yeah i totally agree with you about the computer. thats why i got a dedicated machine for my DJ setup. its stability you want more than speed though, and not having loads of memory hungry apps running in the back ground (as you said anti-virus and other crap like that) is one way to have a glitch free experience.

  • @viperfrank but i cant agree with you about the interface being "bellow par" they have 48KHz sample rate witch is a lot better than some onboard sound cards (excluding the ALC-260) and its above average 44.1KHz.

these things also use BB-PCM2902E main IC witch is the same used for some other interfaces including some Alesis units.

they just didn't include stuff like IMP'S to make it cheaper, no way are they studio quality but there certainly not bellow par.

    thanks for your comment.

    nice one!!!

  • @viperfrank lol..you got the wrong end of the stick fella...the belringer is good for the money, its the sound thats below par compared to other souncards on the market but it will be better than the soundscard built into computers

  • @viperfrank hy there!..u can use traktor too w. this setup?

  • you should get soundcard with a good sample rate, at least 96khz. your sound card will be the limiting factor of your setup for quality.

  • @schoofman oh yeah defiantly, hence why i said in the video if you can afford a more expensive card / interface go for it.

Thats why i stuck with the Realtek ALC-260, HD audio witch means 96KHz, there is less latency on the Behringer unit but the sound is better from the Realtek.

thanks for your comment and your feed back, it's appreciated.

    nice one!!!
