People didn't drown, they froze to death in the icy waters. They didn't fill all lifeboats to capacity, if they had 500 more lives would have been saved
The commanding crew made the steering mistake of going hard-a-starbord. Due to Titanic's design, the new 3 propeller configuration and a undersidzed rutter made her slow to turn.
The Quartermaster, Robert Hitchens, misinterpried Murdoch's order: Murdoch was ordering Hard to Starboard (in the tiller method of ordering turns he was saying Turn Left) Hitchens paniced and turned right for a few brief seconds before his mistake was caught but those few seconds were all that were needed to make a collision inevitable. If it's true Hitchens had to live with the knowledge of what his mistake caused for the rest of his life
Yes there were male survivors. However because they never had a boat drill there was a lot of confusion among the officers and other crew about what they were suppose to do. Some officers believed women and children first ment women and children only others allowed men into the boats only if no women and children were left and many lifeboats refused to go to the rescue of the people in the water once they had been launched
I haven't seen this episode of 'In Search Of...' for several years! One of my favorites because of the narrator,Leonard Nimoy (Mr. Spock of 'Star Trek' fame) and the sinking footage at the end! Does anyone know where the footage came from? I have been trying to find out for years! There are a few scenes that ARE NOT from 'A Night to Remember' as the model looks slightly different. It appears as though these scenes are intermixed with the 'Night to Remember' footage.
the fourth stem stack was a dummy. it was said that the more stem stacks u have themorre powerfulthe boat and people. so much money was spent that they cut the life boats from 100 to 65 then down to 25.
@beautystruck-Thank you for uploading this is 480p, most people upload videos in such LOW QUALITY its hardly worth watching them. I wish Youtube would "require" people to upload in only 480p-1080p HD that would be great. Thank You.
Yes, including Bruce Ismay the president of the white star line that owned the ship. I heard once that more first class men surrvived than third class children. Not sure if this is true, but it's certainly possible since there were far more third class passengers.
It is true more first class men survived then third class women and children, it was caused in no small part to blunders on part of the crew (the boats were suppose to stop at the lower decks to pick up third class passengers, but the crew launched them without stopping), and many of the crew assigned to Third Class weren't bi-lingual, the signs directing passengers to other parts of the ship were only in English, and numerous Third Class Passengers couldn't read or speak English
@snakes3425 not only that but acording to the rules of ethics back then, it was first class rescued first, they were supposed to fit up to 60 people shoulder to shoulder in those boats, but no, comfort of the first class people had to come first, so the rich were seated in the boats so they weren't touching each other as they preferred to be seated.
@snakes3425 tHe reason the life boats did not stop at third class was because according to the rules of conduct, third c;lass was not allowed to travel with first class.

Thank you, I haven't seen this one since I was a kid in the early 80's - before they even found the wreck. Keep on posting! :)
