"There was an organization called Petroleum Trust Fund(PTF), where funds were generated from the petroleum wealth, but former president (Olusegun) Obasanjo and his vice took everything for themselves." ---- Edwin Kiagbodo (Clark). Vanguard Newspapers. Friday August 8, 2008. Does this bring clarity to the idea that supporting Hausa/fulani Islamic Jihadists and yoruba Oligarchs like Obasanjo against your innocent neighbors 'pays back in kind?' Mr. Kiagbodo helped give away these resources to Gowon
Edwin Kiagbodo (ClarK)in September 12, 2008 expresses ecstatic appreciation on the creation of the Niger-Delta Ministry, an added familiar political game and distraction of the Hausa-fulani. Why don't the Federal Government of the North(Hausa-fulani government) call a Peoples' Sovereign National Conference and hand over 100 percent control of the resources that rightfully belong to the Niger Delta to the owners? The impression of a coming Niger Delta Marshall Plan is another big hoax.
People die villagers displace, CNN network are busy showing IRAG and MR Bush, shame on them, all they want is nigeria to die so there will be second conallisation, let the media do the work ,let the world see what happen in nigeria
"The Land Use Act and the Petroleum Act are some of the laws (anti Niger-Delta). The Act (Land Use Act) gives the whole Land to the federal government. But in Sections 34 and 36 of that Act, they said all lands existing before the coming of the Act are exempted. Is the Federal Government right in giving what it does not possess? Nobody gives what is not his own. The protectorate ordinance of 1914 reserves the Land for the people." -- Sen. David Dafinone. Punch Newspapers. Monday November 19,2007
Its not like the oil companies are responsible for the welfare of the people but they should help develop the region that is keeping them in business.( we do not want the oil companies to tap all our oil, damage the land and leave us with the pieces to deal with) In developed countries, thats what happens. The politicians and the government has the role of ensuring the welfare of the people.
Jimmah and you are making sense why others don't... If we dont want Oil Companies to drill our oils then we should leave the oil there untapped and see how the excess will affect out wellbeing. The problem is not the oil companies...it's not even the govt...it's our so-called politicians. Do they ever discuss Niger-Delta issues in Senate? What re the South-south senators doin to ensure improvement in Niger-delta?
The oil communities are not responsible for the welfare for the people - the government is. By stopping the oil-companies Nigerians are only harming their country
That's an interesting comment considering many of these "oil communities" rely very heavily upon the government and militarization to exact their goals.
Yes that may be true...but at the same time, oil companies still have a responsibility just as others do...and that responsibility must include the same practices that they would use in their own countries. ie: oil spills do not equal burning the land so that once fertile farmland is converted into meters thick of oil crust...or pipelines that have been badly constructed. You have a point--It's just so glaringly apparent that these things would not be allowed to happen in the US for ex.

Oil companies are only their at their host goverments requests. You cannot blame shell etc for Nigeria's woes.
The goverment invites the oil companies into their contry to extract their oil.
