Helmand province is relatively flat as far as Afghanistan goes, and there isn't much snow.

I believe its the Royal Marines that are Britain's mountain and cold weather warfare specialists , but if any unit (whether it be Army, Royal Marine, Special Forces or otherwise) were to find themselves somewhere snowy then they would receive the neccesary camo.

@TheMadMontage Well the SAS are given better equipment full stop but the regular army, the paras and the RM are given white Nylon suits that go over the top of the clothing and body armor.

They would wear DPM (or MTP camo now) under the Nylon suits. They also get a snow camo cover for weapons that can be easily removed.

looks good kit but the comments here say otherwise??, Most Body armour is going to be heavy as for th yanks holding patent....trying to pay of their GFC debts no doubt!Couldn't comment on the new rifle or shotgun but hope they are the goods.

Got a book on Combat Shotgunning in the Vietnam war.... wot someone in charge read it too...good grief it'll be good grub next!

Why doesnt the MOD supply british troops with dragon skin body armour

US DOD prevents dragon skin from being issued to non-US troops and governments. Although it is not current standard issue in US military, there are rumours that it may be adopted in the next few years, and the US never want anyone else to have the same generation of equipment as them, to ensure they remain ahead.

Interntational patent laws also prevent UK MOD and NP Aerospace (who make the current british body armour) from copying or coming up with a similar design.

I thought Dragon Skin was found to be at a decreased effectiveness in hot climates (Something to do with plates morphing or something like that)?

Even then, the US military has deemed it too expensive and too heavy for general issue which is why its heavily restricted in use.

@hikhik100 When they leave, the will go home for couple of weeks then get sent off back to their battalions where ever they are based, then do training exercises, gym, etc. So, yes.
