  • Damn, Rocco's so tight!

  • Damn rocco's so tight!

  • Idon't know of any horn section as treacherous as this...maybe Rick James horn section, now J B had a great section as well as earth wind and fire but TOP Ruled in my books.

  • no trombone... the horn section is so incomplete....

  • @theDynamicSkunk agreed haha, but there still sick cuz of the bari sax guy

  • @theDynamicSkunk so not true

  • @theDynamicSkunk ~ Lemme guess....trombone playah? You don't think the bari sax fills in the bottom layer? Thinking of Jimmy FaLLon's band..The Roots..they rock a trombone....I always listen for it..it just makes the cake sweeter to me..humm..after all these years..I wonder why TOP hasn't used one......~:o)

  • Good Stuff !

  • T.O.P. the ''horniest'' group in America...!!!

  • Funky Horn section..that's Tower of Power

  • You GOT TO...

  • @BusMaster007X FUNKIFIZE!!!!

  • Anyone who watches/listens to this and doesn't shake their ass is dead. Awesome drums, bass, horns, vocals, harmonies and arrangement. Any musician watching this WANTS to play this in their band. Funk in the truest sense. The best YouTube post I have seen for about 2 years. Awesome.

  • The band is awesome, the song is awesome... Do you know what i want to say??? Awesome!!!! :)

  • Sax solo is awesome.

  • what a grrrreeeaat horn section, they are just burnin it on this song,

  • A true original.

Regret to say, I'm glad Brent doesn't get to do it --- because he just cannot.

    Emilio has it.

  • Badasses...saludos desde Me Xi Co

  • LOVE Emilio Castillo...the best TOP frontman!!

    Fo sho...it's in the soul!!

  • Rocco 4 ever

  • Outstanding performance. Saw them in April 1973 at a basement club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Stage maybe 12 feet wide and the whole band just PUMPING. Perfect venue. Sewer pipes across a nine foot ceiling and just drippppping hot. Lenny Williams had just replaced Rick Stevens on vocals and Bruce Conte had stepped in for Willy Fulton on guitar.

I was a bit bummed. Nonetheless, they COOKED for this seventeen year old who'd slipped in un-carded. Too cool and one of my musical highlights.

  • TOP will go on and on and on......true funkateers never give up!

  • its in the blood!!!

  • @myfootinurass : "In the blood.....In the blood"!!!

  • wonder if there is a version of this with BB king?

  • tower of power is so damn good!

  • I don't know what's tighter in this funk... the drums, the bass, or the bari sax!

  • Emilio!!! he is the man!

  • @corpsegrinder00891 : Yes he IS!!!

  • I like this slower beat. Nice groove, better hard funk. On the ONE. Yes.

  • What a powerful vocalist, pure soul & funk. I love it!!

  • Emilio's soul vocals have improved over the years.

  • best TOP vocalist.. PERIOD!

  • @Psitopa8hs yes!!!

  • How can you not like this kind of music?!?!?!...In response to the 3 dislikes I saw when I clicked on the video

  • Damn that bass line !!!!!!!!!

  • Emilio is the bomb !

  • in all the years i saw them play round the bay, never saw emilio take lead vocals! very impressive.

  • @dogstar1188

Damn, Mimi's the blackest soundin' white guy I've ever heard!

  • The bass line is so subtle... Is Rocco Prestia!

  • funky like a butt lick monkey????

  • @darude90 like a bowed legged monkey

  • T.O.P THE ONE BAND THAT GROOVES AND IS HERE TO STAY FROM YESTURDAY AND REMAINING TODAY, SPARKING IN THE SAND, YOU OUTTA BE HAVEING FUN, BACK ON THE STREETS AGAIN, AND LETS NOT FOR GET YOUR STILL A YOUNG MAN.

  • That might have been the best start to a solo I have ever seen.

  • Dedicated to the funky flips in my life! Yo, bro!

  • This is as funky as fuck

  • Delicious funkifization! Tenor sax outragerrific! Lead vocals blew my head off--wow!

  • @c1rav83 DAMN! thats cool as hell!

  • i am kind of jealous of you people from the bay area. but i did get to see top in shaumburg il. two years in a row back in the early 80s. i was so close to them i could touch the drummer D.G.

  • blanco chica por tu

  • it just make you wanna play the drums to this song

  • maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan, no one makes this shit any more.

  • mimi and his dudes own the world, not a tad less.

  • *gets funky like a bowlegged monkey* weeeeeeee! awesomeness !

  • listen CRAZY FUNKY by minicillo

  • The Oakland funk. Up Broadway to the tribune bldg. Out to the Coliseum where the A's and Raiders play. To quickway to get some of those grease burgers.

  • I Love Tower Of Power

  • this music talks to me. The difference between the 70ties and now, we have way more bad music. When you see TOP, you wonder i can hear a difference, It is obvious it is damned quality... When something it is good that s all. And if there is so many rubbish coming out of the radio, saying you have to hear it because it is new, it doesnt make it good.

I wonder why i dont listen to radio and Tv anymore.

  • Damn. That tenor solo...just...WOW.

  • full of soul and feeling !!!

  • Horns here equal perfection.........

  • @jsbruzina i second that!!!!

  • @jsbruzina. Perfect live performance. It seems a recording. Simply perfect

  • man, so funkehh.

  • this song's fuckin awesome XD

  • Going to see them in Albany July 30th! Can't wait!

  • Rocco is the man!

  • OOOH I Love Tower Of Power!!! MMMmmmm! :D <3

  • It just does not get any better!

Great musicians, great charts, great vocals, great execution!

    It IS in the soul!

  • Extremely disciplined group they are. Garibaldi is so funky, yet has quite a light touch. He makes watercolors on the drums. They're all mazing musicians.

  • well said. I'd die to have his ghost notes

  • Awesome performance :D

  • great drummer

    great grooves

    typical for david garibaldi

  • Bluddy FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

  • Just a rediculous groove....something that good should be outlawed!!

  • Then just call me an outlaw and step aside brother while I groove on thru.....

  • HELL.... YES!

  • Rock your soul:):):) Loamo "Chin Chin" Chente Anni Salute Ciao:):):)

  • Funkifize is from the second album. I wanted to hear Back on the streets again from the first sixties album: the album cover that is black with hand holding a piece of chicken.

When I went to the Reno jazz festival in 1973 I saw one of the sax players from Berkeley high that would start playing for Tower of Power.

  • check out 'east bay grease' ... that was #1...still got the vinyl...only 6 cuts...filled up both sides with funk-so-funky-lakka bowl-legged donkey. also had 'the skunk, the goose and the fly'...on me oh my!!!!!

  • 1:19 is just funksex.

  • looks like a normal tempo, of the original aranged 70's record.

This one must be tha SLOW its ok!

    Great performance!

  • ya a tad to slow, but still A M A Z I N G

  • the tempo in this is slow as! ..but still love em haha

  • Funky groove

  • so groovy!!!!

    GREAT MUSIC !!!!!

  • cool sound on this one?

What year? see jeff is still there

  • 2000 No Jeff is no longer in band
