  • My daughter and I made these today and they are delicious. Very quick and easy!

  • what us shortening? what what is the UK equivalent

  • Very nice recipe...Thanks!

  • I love these cookies. This is the best recipe i've used so far. I've used it 4 times already and my husband finishes them all. Thanks for the recipe. I also add some peanut butter chips and chunky peanut butter.

  • These cookies ARE the best!!! And, they were soft... big hit here, will definitely make these again.. thanks so much!!!

  • Wow, these are really good! We fixed them today and they are delicious! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  • thank you, your Mom & your Grandmom for me, they turned out really good

  • Nice work. And Thank you my Friend.

  • I live in switzerland and it is impossible to get any peanut butter cookies over here simply because it is not custum in my homeland. I decided to try out your recipe and i sure don't regret that!! They are fantastic! A big thanks from overseas!! For all europeans: baking soda = Natronhydrogencarbonat and is sold as Natron in Germany/ Switzerland;

    1 Cup = 250ml

    enjoy these cookies!!!

  • Dude, your cookies are AWEsome. The first time I gave me mom the recipe and she made these, wow I couldn't put them down. Thanks a lot man.

  • i totally love this guy! his video on cookies is a whole lot better than many of the housewives out there. thank you for making it clear and simple!

  • what if i dont have shortening then what. i made these last year and i know i didnt use shortening they came out awesome but what is the shortening for, can i use butter instead

  • wow, really no butter? hmm.... healthier and tastier! i think this is gonna be my afternoon afterwork snack

  • I don't know about "healthier" given the fact that there is shortening instead, but they are very good. I made a batch yesterday. I also like the fact that they fit on only 2 cookie sheets so there is only one oven cycle. While they are in the oven I always clean up and when I am done cleaning up is about the 5 min. time to swap the sheets to the other rack. Using parchment paper and a cookie scoop do help too. Good luck and get into the kitchen and give them a try.

  • nice they look good and its handy how its a half a cup of everything but flour :)

  • They are great. Mom made them all the time when we were growing up. It is an easy recipe to do and remember, and they fit on two cookie sheets so they all can be done in one shot. Just don't use the low fat peanut butter. I've tried it. The regular store brand is fine.

Oh, just go and bake them, you'll see. The only problem is they won't last very long if you have cookie monsters like I do.

  • i want to try these

  • I'm making these for the fiance's family thanksgiving dinner. Think they'll make a good impression? :]

  • Did you try to make them? How did they turn out? Try the toll house cookie pie recipe too. That is very easy especially if you use a store bought graham cracker crust, and makes a great pie.

I got that recipe from verybestbaking dot com and make some necessary modification to make it what I consider perfect. I reduced the butter and added vanilla and salt. If you have ever make choc chip cookies you would know those ingredients are necessary.

  • They ended up pretty hard, I wouldn't repeat them.

  • This is a hard cookie.

they keep for a long time and can be altered to

    to taste.

the recipe is a Betty Crocker plaid cover cookbook used greatly in the 70's

nostalgia taste keep this a fav of many

  • peanut butter cookies usually come out hard..but still good..

  • Yum :) I'm adding M&Ms. They're baking right now. Think that'll turn out well?

  • How did they turn out with M&Ms Shelbie?

That does sound like a good idea. I think I would use mini M&Ms only because that you need to fork them down to make the criss cross patterns.

    I think I'll try that.

  • I am going to try to make fortune cookies with that batter.

  • Patent pending :)

  • Why don't you google "fortune cookie recipe"? I don't know how well they will fold for fortune cookies.

  • Just kidding Frank...it's Mike.

  • I knew that....and I know you can't bake or hold your liquor. That's why you are still married. Email me at frank321 at hotmail dot com

  • Frank, did you leave out an ingrediant? My cookies aren't any good!

  • I just checked the recipe and it is right. What is wrong with them? The only complaint I have ever heard about these cookies was from my brother when I used low fat peanut butter.

  • And no butter? These sure turned out great! :D

  • You are right Shelbie. No butter. Which makes it a good recipe when you run out of butter in the house. All the ingredients except the one egg come right out of my baking cabinet.

My Mom made these for many years and were always a favorite in the house.

  • Thanks for the video post! yum cookies!

  • To bad it does't take place of a full square meal or I'd make them every day.

  • if i wanted double of that can i just put double of each ingredient

  • You sure can. I've done it. OMG they are good.

  • if you want to triple that - put in 4 times as much
