WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THIS?! Glenn Hughes is one of my all time favorite musicians, and even though he had so much trouble in singing in Black Sabbath, it'd still be cool to have though, it's still apart of the Sabbath history, and I'm one of their biggest fans.
It's not Sabbath because Ozzy said so? That's really the argument you're making?
I choose to deal in facts. Ozzy's personal opinions on Sabbath's catalogue, particularly the material he wasn't part of, doesn't have any bearing on the fact at hand; whether this music is Black Sabbath or not. It is still Black Sabbath. 100% verifiable fact. It's not up for debate. You are allowed to dislike it/not listen to it, but you are promoting one man's opinion and a factual fallacy.
Wow, Hughes is a fabulous singer but he seems to be dropping notes and losing pitch quite a bit here. Maybe some of it was chemically related during that period?
I saw this lineup in Detroit which may or may not have been Glenn's last show with them...I was only 16 at the time lol They did the majority of Seventh Star though which I still like to this day.
I was there 4 rows back on the floor, and W.A.S.P. was the opener. Sabbath was pretty good. The stage was a city in ruins after a nuclear holocaust (?) with lots of lazers. Glenn's voice wasn't too bad-- he was nervous. You can tell he was out of place. I guess he suffered from stage fright as a result of drug use. Iommi sounded great--of course!!!
That was 24 years ago, but if memory serves me right he didn't sound too bad. I know he messed up the lyrics on Iron Man. Iommi looked at him and smiled. They played most of the Seventh Star album.
7th start is the best album in the word....Heart like wheel is a nonstop iommy solo from the start till the end ..this is something we will never find anywhere else..all hail
Iommi is the heart of this band and, looking back on the label's decision to label his solo project, I think this album should have been referred to as Black Sabbath (as opposed to "Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi" which is sorta incumbent).
Sure, a lot of the music is different but it's common for bands to change their sound.
I agree, and the longer I listen to Sabbath, the more I like all of their albums. I used to completely ignore Seventh Star and it's all I listen to lately.
Angry Heart is one of my favorite, and IMO, one of the most underrated Sabbath tracks of all time. Yeah, it was just Iommi in the band at the time, but it's still based on a 100% pure Iommi riff. I don't think Glenn sang this live version with the same intensity as the original studio track, which is disappointing to me, but it's still a treat. Thanks for posting this!
The guitar in this song sounds amazing

This is not Sabbath.

@Refrescospepito
But it is. Perhaps you're another confused Ozzy fan?
blacksabfan 8 months ago 2
@blacksabfan I'm another Ozzy, Dio, Gillan fan. I don't like Hughes in Sabath, nor Tony Martin.
Refrescospepito 8 months ago
@Refrescospepito
But they were in Sabbath. So your statement is wrong.
blacksabfan 8 months ago
@blacksabfan according to Ozzy's autobiography neither Dio nor Gillan, Hughes, Martin etc. are Sabbath, so my statement es half wright. ;)

Yes, They opened up with the Mob Rules. Of course, they did Iron Man, War Pigs, and Paranoid.

In your opinion, how did Glenn do when he sang the Dio and Ozzy-era Sabbath songs?
