During the drum programming section, when you said you had 4 basic kits set up, did you have them open in one Battery Virtual Instrument in your sequencer software (Cubase/Nuendo/Pro Tools etc.), or did you have to set up 4 virtual instruments? Thanks for the tutorial!

Hi, I have the nano pad. How good is the pad sensitivity on these pad compared to the nano pad. Maschine has very good sensitivity. Do these pads compare to maschine's? Cheers!
HELP!! I bought a padKontrol and didn't get the installation cd. I went to Korg website, but didn't know which download to get,I'm using Windows 7 . Any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks for your time....
I got the Korg PadKontrol but i have no idea how to do what this guy did, i dont know how to save sounds into the device, how to save persets, nothing, how to save it so i wont have to redo it every time i connect it... nothing.... is there a place where i could learn?
@iliaMoment korg(dot)com/uploads/Support/KPC1_OM_EFG3_633656794177560000.pdf or you go to korg site , go to padkontrol then support then al the way down an there is the manual
@MikestahPoop69 When I say that I mean it doesn't create any signal other than midi which is a coded signal with no sound on its own. A raw midi signal is transmitted by a device like this and received by a sound generator (Synth/sampler). this piece of equipment and pieces like it are only used to control other instruments.
i jus got my pad kontrol and i cant figure out why i cant hear the pads when i press on them?what kinda software should i have to go with it? it would be nice if u could help me out.thank you
I'm sorta new to this stuff, but do you need to have a special (meaning expensive) software on your computer to use this thing and use the synths on it?
@oxSBPxo looping things doesn't really come with the controlpad (it might, but it's works on an other way)
Basically you just need a good software tool that loops. a lot of sequencer use this. in windows you can do this with ableton or even FL studio, but if you like it free and know linux use freewheeling or seq24, if you have a midi controller you want to use, try Hydrogen (later on the composite project will be stable enough to do live performing (kind of a free, open-source ableton)).
this is so cool! i'm gonna try to save up to get one of these. when you buy it new, will it come with the MIDI audio tracks or will they have to be bought separately?
i hope you can help a beginner to figure things out
how do you assign the drum notes from battery 3 to every pad on padkontrol.i hope you can make a video as well. i wish ,i get an answer from profi like you.
It all started out with the legendary Linn Drum 9000 :) it has evolved a long way thru MPC60 to the various MPC-style Midi controllers and such professional studio instruments.
Is this good for beginners who are just starting out? I'd love to get one and record simple tracks with it but I would like to know if its good for beginners. thanks!
Hey, love your videos but can you make a vid how i can assign all these drum instr from the Padcontrol library to the different scenes? So, just how i can start from scratch wit a Padcontrol straight outta box. I'm new to this and just received one. I also use a APC40 with Ableton. Thanks!
How do I assign the knobs on the padkontrol for reason? I have the preload scene for the redrum in reason but thats not what i wanna control. I want to control a specific knob in the rpg-8 in reason and apply it to one of the pad kontrol knobs. Let me know if u can help me with that bro?
Very nice vid! But I just bought the Padkontrol and I can't change the XY surface assignation to all the pads, specialy with the roll function. How can I do it? I've read the manual but maybe there's something I don't get. Help please.
Can you program chords into each pad? Basically assigning more than one MIDI note to be triggered simultaneously? I believe the nanoKontrol can do this, can the padKontrol do it too?
dude did u read the owner's manual it came with? it can also be downloaded .Trust me open it up read it step by step and dont go getting frustrated pushing all sorts of buttons coz it will jam up .. baby steps tiny lil baby steps till you become comfortable with what u know then progress ... like all musical instruments
I believe a computer is necessary...this is for use with your DAW so that you can trigger samples...it is not a drum machine if you are mistaking it for that...
Hi I just came across this product and I dont know much about it... can it stand alone or does it need to be connected to a computer/synth at all times?
Yeah it needs to be connected to something, its a midi controller, so basically it will control whatever you have hooked up to it, there aren't any built in sounds
That's strain relief for the PSU cable. If you feed the PSU cable around the U bend when you kick the wire or trip over it it won't damage the power connector on the padKontrol.
its a midi controller not a sampler lol it controls sounds that you have on software shall as ableton live and it can trigger them as well as alter them
does the snare kick etc. come with the product or do you have to download them somewhere ? Also im lookin to buy an mpd/mpc and wondering what is the better buy Akai MPD24 or is the Korg PadKontrol Better ?
HEY PARTYPEOPLE! please tell me how much this piece of coolness is, i must have it! preferrably maybe a pawn shop, mi thinking that thing is like $500, deff dont got that kind of money, maybe like 100-200 at the most :(
HELLO, my pK is on the way to its new home as we speak, But i have one fear...does this badboy have step entry, step sequencer? I have reason and acid pro...
Hey guys, I'm using Kore 2 and FL Studio, and I'm currently looking for a Pad like PadKontrol, and I'm just wondering if it's possible to use any kind of pad or do you have to buy it in packs and use the pad with the music programm that was included with it..? And second, does the pad already have sounds and instruments, like Kick, snare Etc?
It should cost no more than $200.00 and you can get it at BestBuy, that's where I got mine. I havent used mine yet I'm still building up my studio, so I had it for over two months now. It's real light weight but nice. If any is not trying to spend big bread, this is the way to go. People use the Computer keyboard to make beats, and that's all good...however why not get something that is made for beats and does so much more. Oh another good one to get is the M-Audio Axiom 49 Key!!!!

I currently use a midi keyboard for an acoustic drum library. I got multiple (around 20) .wav files linked to the same key, so when I press harder a DIFFERENT wave file is being triggered, just like using SoundFont technology.
Is this also possible with the Korg PadKontrol ???
Thats so sweet! Im gonna have to get me one of these....
Ive made some pretty decent work (I like to think so anyway) using just reason with no hardware what soever (if anyone intrested, find go to my profile and find the link to my myspace ;p) But I think if I splash some money on some this and a decent synth, I could really get things moving...
Why would you want to power the padKontrol with an adapter when using USB? Is there any advantage to that besides being able to use the pad with an unpowered USB port?
It's going to be tough deciding between the pK and the Native Instruments Maschine. While the Maschine seems more capable and intuitive, there's some things I like better about the Korg, the least of which being the price. Maschine doesn't have a touch pad either, a feature which seems pretty useful in this kind of device.
Maschine apparently contains instruments inside the hardware and can be used without a computer. But I like the fact that the Korg isn't tied to a specific piece of software or setup. You can change the functions of the Korg to use it with whatever software you want.
One of my biggest considerations when buying gear is flexibility, and I think the Korg meets that requirement pretty well, so given it's much lower price, I'll probably buy the Korg.
What exactly is this machine called? i saw one a while back which NIN was using it was like a behind the scenes thing but it looked way cooler than this. It was similar though. And it had like certain patterns go where ever u hit it. Idk i think it was used for the Ghosts
Are you talking about Maschine? It's called Maschine. But whatever NIN was using wasn't it, Maschine is a new product. Sounds to me like you might be talking about the Korg KP-3 Kaoss Pad (KP-3 is the third generation). If you search for Kaoss Pad on Youtube, you'll find a bunch of videos.
The Kaoss pad does all kinds of cool stuff, and lights up on the pad wherever you drag your finger.
NIN use a monome ??? so it may have been that you saw , they have both an 8x8 monome 40h and also a monome 256 , awesome bits of kit very expensive to buy an official one but you can build a clone pretty cheaply ,, google for arduinome
Interesting that the presenter has no need to send "midi messages". That's precisely why I bought the padKontrol. I wanted to get as much control over an outboard Yamaha QY100 as possible.
I'm trying to hook the pK with Ableton Live. My computer is recognizing and transmitting (im almost positive) to Ableton Live but I can't hear a thing out of my laptop speakers when I hit my pK... What is going on/what do I need to do?
this device is on TOP !!! very simple to use, very sensitive
to set a basic battery or put heavy bass wit it...well first you need to have a sound progam like reason , ableton or what ever :) then just link your pad kontrol and assign the notes. easy as 1 , 2 , 3 :)
good advice, thanks because im looking into this and im very happy with wat this piece of equipment can achieve for people in the respect of what you want it to do.
I'm also trying to decide between the padkontrol and the akai mpd24. Also does anyone know if there is a program I can run on a mac for the padkontrol?
Hey i was wondering if you can plug in the padkontrol into the microkorg thru midi and plug the microkorg in to speakers and play the padkontrol thru microkorg and have it playing on the speakers
Killer job. I literally just ordered one online! Nice trick mapping synths in 2 octave sets. Since I don't play keys that will be a cool way of doing stuff!
I want one so damn bad. That thing says creativity all over it :0

which one are you going for im undecided aswell
jokerhwp 2 years ago
Maschine apparently contains instruments inside the hardware and can be used without a computer. But I like the fact that the Korg isn't tied to a specific piece of software or setup. You can change the functions of the Korg to use it with whatever software you want.
One of my biggest considerations when buying gear is flexibility, and I think the Korg meets that requirement pretty well, so given it's much lower price, I'll probably buy the Korg.

maschine can be used with other programs from what i heard
jokerhwp 2 years ago

So, can you program MIDI sequences (say, for a synth) and assign the sequence to a certain pad?
BoomTssPhace 3 years ago
Interesting that the presenter has no need to send "midi messages". That's precisely why I bought the padKontrol. I wanted to get as much control over an outboard Yamaha QY100 as possible.
I haven't embraced pc/mac-based recording yet.

I'm trying to hook the pK with Ableton Live. My computer is recognizing and transmitting (im almost positive) to Ableton Live but I can't hear a thing out of my laptop speakers when I hit my pK... What is going on/what do I need to do?

adrian7812 3 years ago
this device is on TOP !!! very simple to use, very sensitive
to set a basic battery or put heavy bass wit it...well first you need to have a sound progam like reason , ableton or what ever :) then just link your pad kontrol and assign the notes. easy as 1 , 2 , 3 :)

ok can someon PLEASE tell me how to SET a basic battery??

i need big bass noises, can you get them on this and does it come with an editing program ?
jackattack1515 3 years ago
its just a controller mate, no sounds built in, so yes you can get big bass but you will need the audio in a software package.

Badilla92 3 years ago
I'm also trying to decide between the padkontrol and the akai mpd24. Also does anyone know if there is a program I can run on a mac for the padkontrol?
funkymonk25 3 years ago
It comes with drivers for both. As for other programs, Ableton Live is KEY

Hey i was wondering if you can plug in the padkontrol into the microkorg thru midi and plug the microkorg in to speakers and play the padkontrol thru microkorg and have it playing on the speakers
BurntFromYesterday 3 years ago
Killer job. I literally just ordered one online! Nice trick mapping synths in 2 octave sets. Since I don't play keys that will be a cool way of doing stuff!
