  • I want one so damn bad. That thing says creativity all over it :0

  • What do you mean by the roll not being able to sync?

  • How much for one of these? Also I've seen a black version of this before, is there anything different other than color?

  • or just crazy stuff

  • dose this bit of hardware come with software plugin

  • REALLY nice video dude! good stuff, bags of info,

  • /watch?v=K5Tj2AwtRvw&feature=channel_video_title

  • Great ideas STRAY411.

During the drum programming section, when you said you had 4 basic kits set up, did you have them open in one Battery Virtual Instrument in your sequencer software (Cubase/Nuendo/Pro Tools etc.), or did you have to set up 4 virtual instruments? Thanks for the tutorial!

  • I've caught the KORG bug. Bad.

  • What program do you use because I have one more padkontrol not have to touch the program you can help me?

  • @Andrielisonful He's using Ableton Live

  • How many Synths/samples does it come with? Im guessing i can edit and add samples myself? Also does it work with Logc Pro?

  • Oh, please don't show this stuff to me! Now I need to buy one hahaha :D

  • hey

i wanna start with producing and making beats can you use this with propellerhead record 1.5?? and can you use at the same time with a midi keyboard (ION Key 49 USB MIDI keyboard controller)

    please let me know

  • And that's how you overview a device! thats an awesome job man...

  • I have one question, did those demo sounds in the beginning come with the drumpad?

  • Hi, I have the nano pad. How good is the pad sensitivity on these pad compared to the nano pad. Maschine has very good sensitivity. Do these pads compare to maschine's? Cheers!

  • great tutorial

  • can this be used live through an amp?

  • @beeeastmaster No, its a midi controller, you need a computer.

  • HELP!! I bought a padKontrol and didn't get the installation cd. I went to Korg website, but didn't know which download to get,I'm using Windows 7 . Any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks for your time....

  • fuck, you're a master

  • will it work with a Numark NS7?

  • I got the Korg PadKontrol but i have no idea how to do what this guy did, i dont know how to save sounds into the device, how to save persets, nothing, how to save it so i wont have to redo it every time i connect it... nothing.... is there a place where i could learn?

  • @iliaMoment maybe the manual could help

  • @danielhl22 I dont have the manual, where can i download it

  • @iliaMoment korg(dot)com/uploads/Support/KPC1_OM_EFG3_633656794177560000.pdf or you go to korg site , go to padkontrol then support then al the way down an there is the manual

  • What is the name of this magical wonder instrument midi thing?

  • @xenoexuberphobe korg pad kontrol lol

  • Is it any sensitive?

  • @ytsephill yeah is sensitive

  • So its like you don't even need a drum set?

  • you made me want a Korg padKontrol

  • what's this instrument called?

  • @Meglo56 It's not an instrument its a controller I doesn't make sound on its own it controls virtual instruments. It is a midi pad controller.

  • Do you need a laptop for this pad... or can you just plug it into speakers

  • @MikestahPoop69 Yes. It is a midi controller so it doesn't create its own sound.

  • @dogmancar What about speakers?

  • @MikestahPoop69 When I say that I mean it doesn't create any signal other than midi which is a coded signal with no sound on its own. A raw midi signal is transmitted by a device like this and received by a sound generator (Synth/sampler). this piece of equipment and pieces like it are only used to control other instruments.

  • i jus got my pad kontrol and i cant figure out why i cant hear the pads when i press on them?what kinda software should i have to go with it? it would be nice if u could help me out.thank you

  • @pepeyeans08 Ableton Live works very well in my opinion. There are many, many others that work well also.

  • how did you set up the scales in the pad ?

  • Is this better than the mpd?

  • @tcw00 only if you don't mind sacrificing 6 knobs and 8 faders for an x-y control surface

  • @ZuLiIiIi oh ok thanks. i think i might need them knobs and faders lol. This looks pretty though. Love the light up feature

  • I was going to buy the Akai MPD32..but this looks amazing

  • I think I never pressed the subscribe button this fast. ^^

  • I'm sorta new to this stuff, but do you need to have a special (meaning expensive) software on your computer to use this thing and use the synths on it?

    please someone answer.

  • @OmgItHasMyArm I'd like to know this too.

  • LOL Im the 222444th viewer :)

  • Question: Can you create a loop using this? For example, is there a button that I can press that will "record" the buttons I press in a time?

If not, does anyone know of a pad controller that DOES do this?

  • @oxSBPxo looping things doesn't really come with the controlpad (it might, but it's works on an other way)

Basically you just need a good software tool that loops. a lot of sequencer use this. in windows you can do this with ableton or even FL studio, but if you like it free and know linux use freewheeling or seq24, if you have a midi controller you want to use, try Hydrogen (later on the composite project will be stable enough to do live performing (kind of a free, open-source ableton)).

  • i can use like a sampler?

  • r there any free software u can use it with??

  • very good review,, what else will u be trying out ??

  • Solid review. Keep up the good work.

  • i have 2 questions. ONE. Can you put your on sounds ? like own samples of drums save it on this device?

Two, The roll desn't synk? so it doen't go w/ that tempo, it's just random?

wow thats gay. whats the use for that.

  • this is so cool! i'm gonna try to save up to get one of these. when you buy it new, will it come with the MIDI audio tracks or will they have to be bought separately?

  • Hi there, very nice video.

i hope you can help a beginner to figure things out

how do you assign the drum notes from battery 3 to every pad on padkontrol.i hope you can make a video as well. i wish ,i get an answer from profi like you.

    many Thanks from Austria

  • It all started out with the legendary Linn Drum 9000 :) it has evolved a long way thru MPC60 to the various MPC-style Midi controllers and such professional studio instruments.

  • bit . ly/jerku

  • Is this good for beginners who are just starting out? I'd love to get one and record simple tracks with it but I would like to know if its good for beginners. thanks!

  • acess my videos too!!!

  • Hey, love your videos but can you make a vid how i can assign all these drum instr from the Padcontrol library to the different scenes? So, just how i can start from scratch wit a Padcontrol straight outta box. I'm new to this and just received one. I also use a APC40 with Ableton. Thanks!

  • can you save sounds on the device ?

  • help please. can this work without being plugged to the computer? like taking it everywhere does it work or it has to be plugged?

  • @crackbxtswozniecki2 it is just a trigger basically, you have to have it plugged into a computer/laptop

  • @Fraeg thanks man, i didn't buy it. it was a gift so i didn't know i thought it was like an mpc just figured out it was a controller.

  • How do I assign the knobs on the padkontrol for reason? I have the preload scene for the redrum in reason but thats not what i wanna control. I want to control a specific knob in the rpg-8 in reason and apply it to one of the pad kontrol knobs. Let me know if u can help me with that bro?

  • very informative, thanks!

  • I vote make a demo dude!

  • this is an incredibly comprehensive video and i thank you.

  • is this only a MIDI or can you connect to computers using straight USB?

  • yes,you can

  • how long samples can you put on a pad? and how do u load a sample to the pads?

  • you have been very helpful. thank you, so much.

  • Very nice vid! But I just bought the Padkontrol and I can't change the XY surface assignation to all the pads, specialy with the roll function. How can I do it? I've read the manual but maybe there's something I don't get. Help please.

  • how do you assign octave shift? im using the pk with the esx24 and have more than 16 samples loaded, how can i shift up/down to the other samples?

    thanks

  • great overview THX @Stray411

  • 3:20 how do u make the pads light up constantly

  • Can you program chords into each pad? Basically assigning more than one MIDI note to be triggered simultaneously? I believe the nanoKontrol can do this, can the padKontrol do it too?

  • i bought this thing 3 times

and always took it back before the 15 days cuz i sucked with it badly,,,can anybody break it down for me?? i like rap music

  • dude did u read the owner's manual it came with? it can also be downloaded .Trust me open it up read it step by step and dont go getting frustrated pushing all sorts of buttons coz it will jam up .. baby steps tiny lil baby steps till you become comfortable with what u know then progress ... like all musical instruments

  • is this better than the mpd24?

  • OHH ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What program u using for the sounds to work with the padKontrol !??? Lol fruity loops is what my buddies tryna work it with...

  • he uses live

  • he said it at the begining ni's battery plug in with probably ableton .

  • could u help me with my padkontrol problem???

  • *whistle* only 200 bucks?! wowzerz...

  • Hey thanks for this video

  • buying one

  • can you use the padKONTROL alone or is a com[uter necessary?

  • It's basically a midi controller, the controller itself contains no sounds

  • so it's useless without it.

  • yeah, im pretty sure its usb and for use with a laptop or computer based system you may wanna google it cuz im not completely sure

  • I believe a computer is necessary...this is for use with your DAW so that you can trigger samples...it is not a drum machine if you are mistaking it for that...

  • seems to be quite complicated

  • still can't beat the kaossilator for simple pocket fun

  • Can't someone just EVALUATE THE PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HARDWARE ITSELF? Why is this so god damn hard to find ANYWHERE?

  • PHAT! - ill get one!

  • Hi I just came across this product and I dont know much about it... can it stand alone or does it need to be connected to a computer/synth at all times?

  • Yeah it needs to be connected to something, its a midi controller, so basically it will control whatever you have hooked up to it, there aren't any built in sounds

  • I have a Korg K25 and it also has that upside down U slot...what is that for?

  • That's strain relief for the PSU cable. If you feed the PSU cable around the U bend when you kick the wire or trip over it it won't damage the power connector on the padKontrol.

  • awesome, i know just what you mean. i've been trying to figure that out for the longest time, thanks

  • how do i load samples and sounds on it? thinking of buying it, anyone can tell?

  • its a midi controller not a sampler lol it controls sounds that you have on software shall as ableton live and it can trigger them as well as alter them

  • show off lol IM BUYIN IT

  • does the snare kick etc. come with the product or do you have to download them somewhere ? Also im lookin to buy an mpd/mpc and wondering what is the better buy Akai MPD24 or is the Korg PadKontrol Better ?

  • buy the padcontrol, the mpd-pads feel like brackets

  • HEY PARTYPEOPLE! please tell me how much this piece of coolness is, i must have it! preferrably maybe a pawn shop, mi thinking that thing is like $500, deff dont got that kind of money, maybe like 100-200 at the most :(

  • this thing is only like 200

  • you can buy a nanopad

  • HELLO, my pK is on the way to its new home as we speak, But i have one fear...does this badboy have step entry, step sequencer? I have reason and acid pro...

  • what an awesome video!

    very informative :)

  • how did you put the sounds on there?. or are they already on there when you buy it?

  • Thanks for the video.

    Very informative!

  • Hey guys, I'm using Kore 2 and FL Studio, and I'm currently looking for a Pad like PadKontrol, and I'm just wondering if it's possible to use any kind of pad or do you have to buy it in packs and use the pad with the music programm that was included with it..? And second, does the pad already have sounds and instruments, like Kick, snare Etc?

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these.

Does all the software that you need to play the padkontrol come with it in the box?

    great video by the way.

  • It should cost no more than $200.00 and you can get it at BestBuy, that's where I got mine. I havent used mine yet I'm still building up my studio, so I had it for over two months now. It's real light weight but nice. If any is not trying to spend big bread, this is the way to go. People use the Computer keyboard to make beats, and that's all good...however why not get something that is made for beats and does so much more. Oh another good one to get is the M-Audio Axiom 49 Key!!!!

  • can i program the sounds from a computer and transfer to the padkontrol and play it without a computer?

  • No. its a midi controller. not an mpc/sampler. But trust me, you want one of these, not an MPC.

  • Nice job thanks!

  • Great video man. How much does it cost and wered you get it?

  • hello..

    i just want to ask.,

can i assign the pad into chord?

    thx btw.,

  • try out GURU from fxpansion with this korg pad kontrol

  • YOU ARE MY HERO MAN!! The beat at 2:44 is CRAZYYyyy!!!!

  • damn, . . i realize this video is rather dated but regardless; the delivery & explanation of this overview is super impressive! mad props to ya Stray411 for know'n yo stuff, & being able to deliver that nfo in such a clear & fundamental fashion all stuffed into a video lasting less than 5 minutes!!!! .....'nuff respect

  • can you loop the things you play, or do you have to play everything with your fingers all the time?

  • I currently use a midi keyboard for an acoustic drum library. I got multiple (around 20) .wav files linked to the same key, so when I press harder a DIFFERENT wave file is being triggered, just like using SoundFont technology.

Is this also possible with the Korg PadKontrol ???

  • this can be used with any daw software.

and I recommend this from dnb :P

  • Great Review! Very informative, I'm gonna get one.

  • Thats so sweet! Im gonna have to get me one of these....

Ive made some pretty decent work (I like to think so anyway) using just reason with no hardware what soever (if anyone intrested, find go to my profile and find the link to my myspace ;p) But I think if I splash some money on some this and a decent synth, I could really get things moving...

  • how can you assign the xy pad to the filters?

  • 2:44-2:48 sounds really nice

  • how do u make things loop, instead of just them playing a single hit

  • 5 4 Cool upload!!!! P

  • Why would you want to power the padKontrol with an adapter when using USB? Is there any advantage to that besides being able to use the pad with an unpowered USB port?

It's going to be tough deciding between the pK and the Native Instruments Maschine. While the Maschine seems more capable and intuitive, there's some things I like better about the Korg, the least of which being the price. Maschine doesn't have a touch pad either, a feature which seems pretty useful in this kind of device.

  • which one are you going for im undecided aswell

  • Maschine apparently contains instruments inside the hardware and can be used without a computer. But I like the fact that the Korg isn't tied to a specific piece of software or setup. You can change the functions of the Korg to use it with whatever software you want.

One of my biggest considerations when buying gear is flexibility, and I think the Korg meets that requirement pretty well, so given it's much lower price, I'll probably buy the Korg.

  • maschine can be used with other programs from what i heard

  • What exactly is this machine called? i saw one a while back which NIN was using it was like a behind the scenes thing but it looked way cooler than this. It was similar though. And it had like certain patterns go where ever u hit it. Idk i think it was used for the Ghosts

  • Are you talking about Maschine? It's called Maschine. But whatever NIN was using wasn't it, Maschine is a new product. Sounds to me like you might be talking about the Korg KP-3 Kaoss Pad (KP-3 is the third generation). If you search for Kaoss Pad on Youtube, you'll find a bunch of videos.

The Kaoss pad does all kinds of cool stuff, and lights up on the pad wherever you drag your finger.

  • NIN use a monome ??? so it may have been that you saw , they have both an 8x8 monome 40h and also a monome 256 , awesome bits of kit very expensive to buy an official one but you can build a clone pretty cheaply ,, google for arduinome

  • So, can you program MIDI sequences (say, for a synth) and assign the sequence to a certain pad?

  • Interesting that the presenter has no need to send "midi messages". That's precisely why I bought the padKontrol. I wanted to get as much control over an outboard Yamaha QY100 as possible.

    I haven't embraced pc/mac-based recording yet.

  • I'm trying to hook the pK with Ableton Live. My computer is recognizing and transmitting (im almost positive) to Ableton Live but I can't hear a thing out of my laptop speakers when I hit my pK... What is going on/what do I need to do?

  • i have a question 4 u...

can you use reason on a vista???

    tnx

  • yea it works on vista

  • it's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow its going take me so long to get that down

  • can all these functions other than xy be done with an MPD?

  • what program are you using for this ?

  • urm the first words of the video......'SO I HAVE BATTERY LOADED UP....' kind of gives it away.

  • and if you meant the host that's ableton

  • can you have the pad Kontrol on its own?

  • does this come with any built in presets?

  • A + also from me.

  • Hey thanks a lot for posting a great video man. You speak quickly, and clearly. A+ ^^

  • this is a really good video, im getting one for christmuzzz :):) i asume i can do all that shit with reason 4.

  • WHAT IS A GOOD PROGRAM That you can use on the pad kontrol

  • "The best DAW is the one you are using"

  • how do i make sound from it?

  • You don't.

    You control sound

  • this device is on TOP !!! very simple to use, very sensitive

to set a basic battery or put heavy bass wit it...well first you need to have a sound progam like reason , ableton or what ever :) then just link your pad kontrol and assign the notes. easy as 1 , 2 , 3 :)

  • ok can someon PLEASE tell me how to SET a basic battery??

    cause im totally lost.

  • i need big bass noises, can you get them on this and does it come with an editing program ?

  • its just a controller mate, no sounds built in, so yes you can get big bass but you will need the audio in a software package.

  • good advice, thanks because im looking into this and im very happy with wat this piece of equipment can achieve for people in the respect of what you want it to do.

  • me 2 :D that is great

  • OMG im buying this tomorrow

  • nice one dude! 5 starzz ;)

  • in your opinion which is better padkontrol or akai mpd24?

  • I'm also trying to decide between the padkontrol and the akai mpd24. Also does anyone know if there is a program I can run on a mac for the padkontrol?

  • It comes with drivers for both. As for other programs, Ableton Live is KEY

  • thanks, excellent

  • Hey i was wondering if you can plug in the padkontrol into the microkorg thru midi and plug the microkorg in to speakers and play the padkontrol thru microkorg and have it playing on the speakers

  • Killer job. I literally just ordered one online! Nice trick mapping synths in 2 octave sets. Since I don't play keys that will be a cool way of doing stuff!

  • Yea MAn Thanks For The Video, I Just Bought One Yesterday, Shits Crazy.

  • whats the song from 2:43?

thats amazing what you can, who can i get this padkontrol?

    Peace
