  • I think I just heard this on CSI. I've heard it before then though.

  • Best song!

  • the first time i heard it was on The O.C. <3

  • Imogen Heap is one of the most amazing artist of our time, beautiful song

  • I effin love this song

  • i first heard this song on the oc

  • this song will officially never die, in a million years

  • *heap lol

  • In my opinion Jason derulo and imogen Heep are both great musicians. Imogen wrote and sang this based on her parents divorce. Jason obviously likes this song and found something special in it, asked permission for it, and she granted it. Jason just put imogen out more for people to know her and also it meant something to him. Its just like liking a song because it meant something to you so you covered it and posted it. No argument for me. I love them both. :)

  • This song was WAY before Jason Derulo's version thank you very much :) lol

  • i think she's talking about the holocaust......

  • We did a dance to this song in like 5th grade :D and I just barely found it now in 9th haha

  • @MrsRyanRoss13 lol i've been listening to it since I was 11 too :P Now I'm 16 lol

  • 46 people get found when they play hide and seek. :I

  • I get chills every time I listen to this song.

  • <3

  • I love this song so much 3 and the picture you use is really good

  • somtimes i dnt no what she talking about but i love this song

  • Yeah, I like this one better.

  • Thumbs up if you came here from "The O.C."

  • @QuezProductions Rofl. Wow. The odds of that, I actually heard this song before the O.C, but I was just watching it, and heard it again and came here. That show kicks ass.

  • she's not just a singer, she's a musician.....It's a big,big difference

  • Wow 2.000 viewers.. You got 452.256 now :)

  • The song is clearly about a Divorce and the man leaving her.

End of. (although the emotion can be applied to man or woman as in fact women cheat far more than men).

If derps don't understand the blatantly obvious lyrics I can go through every single line in depth taken from Imogen's mouth herself and song analysts.

Its very obvious what this song is about you just need to listen to Music for once rather than hearing what you want to hear and making up your own meaning.

    Peace.

  • My perspective on this song would be the pain and depression that she is trying to express as a result of losing someone she loved. Loss meaning the end of a relationship. Furthermore yes she is very clever. However, if you break up the lyrics into little sections and dismember it piece by piece, you may be surprised with what you find within the music. Music is art, an art form of expression, like a poem.

  • I love this song so much!

    Didnt jason durolo sing this?

  • @Bunny5rules This is the original version

  • @Bunny5rules no. this the original. yes i know youve been informed already but i just have to mention this is far more beautiful and meaningful.

  • She has an amazing way of giving profound meaning to everyday objects, makes you look at things a little differently.

  • i never knew this version existed and i found this out from the oc and searched it. i only used to listen to the jason derulo version for imogens' part in the song.

  • The fact that this song is about the holocaust makes it all the more poignant

  • i swear im in love with this song thnx to my english teacher playing it :) everypart is amazing..usually theres only one good part about a song..not here :)

  • This made me stay up all night listening to it and for some reason feeling like i let someone down...

  • Amazing.

  • sad how the vevo version of this song only has 4 million views while Derulos has 103 million views, Just sad, and he gave no credit to Imogen Heap

  • I love the fact that this song doesn't even need music in the background...

  • I heard the Derulo version first, and hated it. Then I learned it was a remix to this, and I love this so much. I now hold a burning hatred for Derulo.

  • So, i love this sog, but i want someone to explain to to me because im confused since theyres so many different parts speaking of different things, what is this song about?

  • @Gekodeko its about the holocaust

  • @Gekodeko this song is about the holocaust. keep in mind the extermination of the jews and listen to the song again while reading the lyrics it'll make sooo much more sense!

  • 3:22 is my favourite part.

  • i love that picture!!!!!!

  • laurie anderson?

  • @RandomWOAHtv put ur money where ur mouth is, I doubt it .

  • I found this song because of snl

  • It's really annoying when somebody only knows an amazing song from a TV show, but this just has the O.C written all over it for me :')

  • Nobody else on Earth can hit the note at 2:38.

  • @CameronCrazy870 I can, fail.

  • @CameronCrazy870 I just hit it, and then went an octive higher

  • i found it. 2:51

  • @CrazedPoptarts No, you're just too immature to understand the difference between a moving piece of music and Jason Derulo. A song containing a layered track, and that alone, has moved so many people to tears. Not ignoring the fact that the lyrics to this song are so full of depth and emotion. Jason Derulo is another shit artist, that took a beautiful song and shoved it in a grinder, made a few simple verses, and made millions off copy write infringement. That, my fellow youtuber, is some crap

  • @JoutTHEordinary hmm... guess what . i don't give a shit [= .

  • @JoutTHEordinary For everyone who is pissed off about Jason Derulo, watch Laurie Anderson's Oh Superman from 1981. You'll see that Imogen Heap is also building her work on prior art. Invention and reinterpretation are fine. We shouldn't want it any other way.

  • @surfdakota Imogen Heap is talented and makes good music, Jason Derulo is not and does not. THAT'S my argument. Alot of artist's do what Jason Derulo did in this situation, difference is that Imogen Heap, among other great artists, did it right, Jason Derulo, did not. Taking parts of a song and making another great song is different that taking parts of a song and completely destroying it.

  • @JoutTHEordinary I 100% agree sir. Very well said.

  • @AssEATSPOOP Thank you very much :)

  • @CrazedPoptarts Cocaine is a helluva drug.

  • @Mr6ixmusic HAHAHAAHHA

  • You are the one in pain. I seek only to save you from the nothingness cliff, you gaze off. This is not a game. This is my odyssey, for the war is already won, i need to find a way home.

  • Though i run and hide you always seek and i will never know why. one does not run to faint nor work for no pay nor create to destroy , but with every step closer you take the chance to be hurt and i will never understand why.

  • I must admit that I'd never heard this until I heard Derulo's song which sampled it and whilst I hated that song, I have to thank him because it led me to the original. Amazingly beautiful this song.

  • Raped the replay button<3

  • *gunshot*mmm whatcha saaaaaayy

  • \m/

  • so lol good lol

  • Dear sister, by the time you read this...

  • =D smiley says it all LOL

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 Correctness in your theories really does not matter. It's what you feel when you hear the music. If you think it's about 9/11 or whatever your other theories entail, awesome. I let my friend listen to this song about a year ago and he thought it was about extra-terrestrials. It's kind of like "Every Step You Take", some think it's a love song, others think it's a stalker song. It's whatever you want it to be. Part of the beauty of music.

  • @shadowblind07 Actually, I'm almost positive she wrote it about her parent's divorce....

  • What an aweso- *is shot dead*

  • I thought she was a male too

  • Absolutely fantastic.........For Real..........

  • Absolutely fantastic.........Fer Real..........

  • awsome !!!!!!!!

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 As a musician and writer, the meaning that I put into my work is usually not what the people who enjoy it get when they hear my music or read my pieces. It's part of the interpretive community to which you belong. They find something that THEY connect to; the artist's intention behind the work has nothing to do with what a fan feels about the piece. Knowing Imogen's reasoning behind the song would be neat, but it doesn't change how the song sounds to anyone.

  • Let the song mean whatever you want it to. Kinda the point, she wrote the lyrics and they mean something to her but are to be interpreted however anyone wishes.

  • @Minimax04 But the song sends the same message to people lyrically inclined across the globe lol the songs just about a bad relationship.

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 lol. You're reading too much into it. Enjoy the music, not the meaning.

  • @WhiteDeath905 Who said I wasn't enjoying the music? Whenever I listen to this song I enjoy it, as with any other music that I listen to. I'm not reading too much into it, I was just curious of the meaning. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • she's a bacon

  • Meravigliosa...

  • Amazing

  • almost made me cry. So beautiful.

    thumbs up to you Imogen.

  • Im a guy that weights 75 kg, goes to a gym each day for 3 hours and i love heavy-metal and death-metal... and this song is my only exception... this is the only song i love that isnt metal... i still adore this song...

  • @MatthewP13 and your point is lol? Explaining yourself doesn't make you tough, having the balls to say you love a song and not give details as to why you do is tough kid

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 most music is supposed to be moving, something to relate to. I can imagine there is a story behind this song- but its better not knowing.

  • @kazanyemmi No, I think it's better to know coz then you can decide if you relate to the song/message of the song or not. That is what "feeling" the music means....

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 listen....just listen, then you will find what you're looking for. Its all up to YOU, YOUR interpretation....isn't that what should matter to you, and not the thoughts of others?

  • @RAMONDlAZ I was just curious about the meaning of the song, but apparently I'm asking something really unreasonable coz I ge the same answer from three different people. No, I actually don't care what the thoughts of others are.... in fact, I never asked what anyone was thinking. I just simply asked the "story" behind the song, that's all. I really like this song, so really it's only natural to be curious....

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 You asking for a meaning to something means you have trouble finding it on your own. I'm pretty sure that means you can't think for yourself lol it's not like its bad, its just a song

  • @RAMONDlAZ Yes, there is no doubt I have trouble figuring out the lyrics... and I don't think that you should jump to conclusions about me "not being able to think for myself." I've listened to the song many times and have thought about what it means. I have my theories, but how should I know they are correct.... It was just an innocent question.

  • @Halo2glitchlover22 thats deep brah

  • @RAMONDlAZ obvious troll is obvious

  • what is the name of the picture??

  • I wish more people sang this version, not Derulo's butchered shitty little piece.

  • finally i found this song ! <3 and it's totally not by the beatles lol i only assumed it since the only part i remember "mmm whatcha say" sounded like a man singing it.

but the entire song is very lovely.

  • I owe my life to imogen heap and this song. Literally.

  • thank you spoony

  • At 4 in the morning, this song is incredible

  • I LOOOOOOVE HER

  • This is a great song Derulo is a bag of camel shit

  • Derulo ruined this.

  • @samrasimplicity we're going to see a lot of songs, just as good as this one, get ruined by future one hit wonders to make a quick buck just so they don't have to worry about their 401Ks their whole lives....

  • @samrasimplicity Bullshit. It anything, he popularized it and made this lady some more money.

  • @samrasimplicity

Agreed. That's what a lot of artists are doing nowadays.. butchering amazing songs by remixing them. Stupid. -__-

  • @samrasimplicity Yes he did.

  • This song literally almost gave me an orgasm...

  • @kyao10 PFFT HAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • @kyao10 almost?

  • Sounds Auto Tuned

  • No it wasnt auto tuned in fact this song was before auto tuning, it was synthesized though@TheLimabean45

  • @xxwillfirexx Yea Thanks mate. Just Sounds It. Dontcha Think? Thanks, ----TheLimabean45----

  • THE OC S2 SEASON FINALE :'(

  • One of the only artists I actually like that run their voice through a synthesizer. Imogen Heap... <3

  • Garys mod brought me here...

  • I love this song, MUCH more than Derulo's version

  • @Kyclkycl - where did you find the picture you use in the video!?

    thanks!

  • This song makes the mm watcha say part way better and meaningful than the Jason Derulo song did.

  • when i heard this i was OMG DEAR SISTER

  • Who did it first: Derulo or Heap? can someone please answer me?

  • @GabiSpinillo

Heap... like 8 months before Derulo.

  • @GabiSpinillo

    Woops, I meant 18 months !

  • She is brilliant, and I love with with every inch of my being. I don't mind that Jason Derulo used part of it for his song. What bothers me is when people think he had anything to do with the catchy part of that song. No, kids. That was the glorious Imogen Heap.

  • Just realized there are no instruments

  • Amazing simply amazing

  • Grab the audio from this vid at searchripgrab doht cohm.

  • i can deffiantly feel the emotion in this one

  • When she sings the whatcha say part in this one it is more mellow dramatic and emotional and it hits me in my chest. Jason's is more upbeat and pop oriented and my energy explodes when I hear his song. I love them both.

  • Comment removed

  • i dont know how u can compare it with Jason Derulo´s version....this is so amazing

  • You may want to update that "2000 views ...wow!" ;)

  • Comment removed

  • who cares when you knew it! Stupid scene kids. Its a good song. You're the same people who are gonna hate everything they do after they get popular....just because!

  • jason did not ruin this song but he did take her voice it still sounds good but i like both

  • this song is soooo beautiful. the lyrics are incredible and the vocals are incredible and the chords are so beautiful and moving...oh my gosh.

on my page I have an a capella cover of this, you should check it out if you want. it's worth your time. thank you a lot, and peace.

  • 2:51 on is beast

  • my fav part 2:51 mmm whatcha say!

  • Who else other than me at first thought this was a guy?

  • I can see why that part of the song was sampled, it's beautiful lyrics which people can relate to.

  • i thought it wsd a guy lol

  • Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek (Afrojack Remix)

  • Everyone should be happy that Jason Derulo took this song. I mean I assume that we all are Imogen Heap fans so with that in mind think of the money a few seconds of this MASTERPIECE has made her. I think that JD using the song sample doesnt ruin the song. In fact it proves that a small part of this song is great enough to top the charts!. I am proud that IH is finally getting the exposure she deserves

  • I first heard this song in a video a while ago.. Someone was being shot, and it played this song, while they were falling down in slow motion.

  • can someone tell me what this song is bout ? ): cause im slow. very slow. and the comments keep saying stuff bout a girl and her parents being divorced, or a girl finding out her boyfriend cheated on her or something. SOMEONE TELL ME.

  • @ItsMe678876 i hear its about the Holocaust. but their is the possiblity it has more than one topic.

  • @ItsMe678876 imogens parents got divorced when she was 12. the song is from her point of veiw. there's an interview on yt somewhere.

  • i love this song i did not know this song before my uncle showed me it and i agree jason derulo did ruin this song

  • that is the best song eva

  • Derulo ruined this song

  • wfo has heard da dubstep remix it's good az

  • @muffcabbage1 oh godd, it is pure magic.
