The first time that I heard it was at Illusions: The Showplace of the South, performed by Tiffany Ariagus. Fell in love with the song the first time that I heard it too! Great song!

Oh Happy Day!!! The first time I heard this song was in Atlanta, GA in a gay club called "Backstreets". A female impersonator (Drag Queen) by the name of Brandy Alexander did this song and I immediately fell in love...with the song, and with Brandy. Brandy later moved to Charlotte, NC where I got to know her briefly. Talk about a walk down memory lane!!!

I wouls also like to add that a saw Brandy in ohio up in Cleveland and also had a chance to do her hair that evening he is a wonderful entertainer and a great person wished she come though again this time in Columbus Ohio where i'm from p.s. i could use a new Promo pic too lol

@robyfox2 Did this Brandy Alexander used to be in New York City. I think I met her in Indianapolis, in in 1964-64, Or this could be a drag queen who claimed to be her named Randy??  Any way she introduced this song to us and great memories. Yes it was.
