hello Dave i have got a question with my honeybee king 2 i was just practising flying it went pretty well but than i changed the battery and when i connected the battery the gyro was not steady red it is slow blinking and the tail-servo is not reacting to anything can you please help me?
Very informative, I also have the HBK2 and a Lama V4. My Lama loses power after around 20 seconds to the point where it sinks slowly to the ground, even when the battery is fully charged. Do you think it's just the battery, or could ot be something else? The motors seem fine to me. Also, could I get your 9 tips? That would be great! Keep up the good work :)
I have a technical question about the electric motors used in RC helicopters. There's a number associated with them, e.g. 370 for this particular heli.
What does this number refer to? I've googled the whole internet, without finding any explanation.
Well back in the old days, a 500 can motor was the biggest and I guess they started referencing from that. I always thought it referred to the weight of the motor.
how do we request your flying tips? I also bought a Honey Bee king and learned the hard way that it's harder than it looks to fly a RC. I broke mine and am waiting for new tail boom and full head set.
hey buddy, ive got a 2200mAh battery, and the cells dont all read the same voltage, 1st is 11.9, 2nd is 8.0, 3rd is 3.9. is that normal, should they all be different or the same> my 1000maH battery is showing the same readings. let me know, if i need new batteries or if its normal, thanks heaps.
Your reading series. The only way to read each one it the neg terminal and pos terminal of each battery. 3.7, time 2 is 7.4 and another 3.7 is 11.1. Charged they will be higher. Try balancing them with a good balance charger.
NightFlyer, thanks for all the tips. I'm just getting to grips with my King 2. When you went to fly outside you said let's turn the Gyro off, is that possible with the standard Gyro?
Yes, but in reality, it turns it down to a lower rate. It is impossible for most to fly without a gyro. I like rate gyros better than heading locs, myself.
hey im a beginner and i got a Ripmax sabre....but my controlls are back to front..lol like if u put the left stick down it make heli go up and if u put the stick up it goes down.....im confused.....is this right or am i just a noob at these lol?....i took it out side and broke the main blade in like 1min....and destroyed my skids.
hey nightflyyer, i got my hbk2 and was reading the manual saying that the battery should not be charged more than 90 min, but the light does not go solid green. it keeps flashing. will it still get a full charge if the light does not go solid green, and what are your recommendations for charging the batteries?? thanks.
Sometimes it takes longer, but at 90 minutes it would be close. Best to measure the voltage and see if you have a low cell for sure. Also, the 12v supply battery may be low, if your using one.
Well, remember the left stick moved to the left is supposed to make the nose go left not tail. So, if your doing it the right way, you may have a slipping tail belt, or the pitch is backwards on the tail blades, or the unit is turning the wrong way.
Loosen it at the body, and pull back tightening the belt, and while holding it, retighten the screws. The servo will also move. You should only move the servo to make sure the pitch on the tail works even from stop to stop. Blades can be screwed on backwards.
hi, could someone reply to this soon please, i am new to remote control helicoptors and have someho unsynced my heli with my controller, please may i have some advice on what to do :)
Depending on the TX, usually (your book should tell you this) you put in the binding plug on the RX and turn it on. Then turn on the TX (while holding the TRN) switch in at the same time, which puts the tx in the binding mode and in a few seconds it will bind. Then remove the plug from the RX and restart. If yours is not a Spektrum radio, you will have to refer to your manual. Good luck.
All right. Thanks. Good luck. HB King 2 is not a beginners heli, so take it easy, and an instructor from a local club may be a helpful thing and read my 9 heli flying tips before flying.
hey, thanks for this video, it will really help me getting my HBK2 off the ground as im a new flyer. i know you need heaps of prac, but i dont get alot of time to fly it. im just never confident enought to get it off the ground, because i feel its controling me instead of me controling it. im having alot of trouble getting all the links and triming right, as each time i get it off the ground it seems to always go to a north/west direrection. thanks for the tip on setting the pitch on the remote.
Also another tip for the honeybee king 2. Buy the upgrade ESC and brushless motor. If you dont the stock ones will burn out because they are so cheap. Installation is easy because all i did was ziptie the ESC to the bottom like the old one and screw the motor in. If you buy from hobby-wing which is where i buy my parts online you will need to get the small gear for the motor.
Plus the gyro is blinking red at same time - almost took my hands off since the blades spooled up for half a turn at full speed for a second! - markus
Hi niteflyer - I got an esky king 2 - worked right out of the box - I tried turning it on this morning and all it does now is heat up the speed controller - and seems to not spool up at all - only some sudden jerk movements on blades - I did not crash it just all of a sudden did that. Any suggestions? - thx markus
Make sure your throttle hold switch is off and stick and trim is down. and Rebind your tx. If you over heated the motor at some time, it probably is toast. Sometimes it happens after the last flight, but Try another motor. Also dont forget to use my 5-10 rule. Fly for 5 min and let motors (and brain) cool for 10. Good luck.
the stock one works I know thats what I am using I wanted to see for myself if it would fly with what it came with. It does very well I may add. Thank you for sharing with all of us your knowledge.
Best regards Mr. Herbert maybe one day I will be in you area and we will meet take care.
It can be done with the $25.00 dollor gyro, then later get the more expencive gyro you dont need HH for what use Newbees are doing. Read read read there is a heli mag out there find it RC Heli and board RR and read and when your done reading read some more there is a lot of information out there and get a better radio that can be adjusted,
The radio work fine, but the programing when you hit the switch creates a big difference the the pitch of the maine blades. The tracking is horable its a shame. My heli came with the cheap gyro only rate. Thats fine I like rate you are in control. But to set it up, like you said earlier use a lazy Susan and move the servo up and back til you get it to hold the tail in place.
This motor could not lift the heli the way it came set up it would barely lift at full stick. Normal ( 0 - 2 - 6 )it hover well but like you said needs more RPM maybe the motor, esc and the battery well not get hot. Idel-Up 1 ( 5 - 0 - 6 ) the motor will spin at a higher RPM I will try this next time and let you know how it went. I hover at 30 to 50 feet up not 3 to 5 feet on the ground. It is easyer to control the machine way up there.
Hello Mr. Herbert: I realy enjoy all your videos. I also own a Honeybee King 2, it is not a 2.4 model. I agree with you this is not a helicopter for a beginer. I have been on the sim for almost 2 years. I am starting to hover my king and the motor, esc and the battery getting very hot. In normal I a set a 0 pitch at the botton of the stick and 2 degrees at mid stick. When I hit the 3D switch and put the stick in the middle I am at 0 pitch.
u better start with cp2 as mr. herbert`s said, cause honey bee king 2 is having a lot more problem even if u didn`t crash, the main motor is not good it always burned.
I am no longer fixing helis. I fix them and still the people crash them in 15 seconds after getting them back and it is hard for them to believe they were working. I hate wasting time, while people try without instructors to learn on their own. IN this case I even made a video to prove it worked, and the guy still crashed his into oblivion. Best to get to a hobby store somewhere or pick up some helicopter mags, and get a simulator. Sorry.
i have a hbk2 but i cant get it to take off.the battery is fully charged and i have done every thing on this vido but it still will not take off. i will be putting a vido on soon, so if u look at that maybe you could tell me what is up
ive flown my hbk2 12 times and well... my stock king 2 motor smoks after a 5 min hover and it doesnt even give off much power when i have the hov. trim in the midle at 0! should i switch out the motor or could it be that somethings bent?
Motor is bad. Rule of thumb is if your going to hover electrics without a heat sink motor is to use the 5 10 mode. Hover 5, let the motor cool for 10, then fly again.
i have a question. yesterday, i plugged in my honey bee king 2's battery, and smoke poured out of the speed controller. after examining it, i found it had be burnt out.
i have now purchased a new brushless one for a brushless motor, but what i want to know is whether it was the battery that caused this to burn out. meaning, was the ESC faulty, or is the battery dangerous?
More than likely, the motor or wiring is shorted out. If not, the only other thing that could cause this would be if the battery was connected backwards. It is rare that the speed controller would burn out on its own, but it is a possibility.
Check the voltatge of the battery. I personally do not thing that is the problem however. There is a short beyond the speed controller in the wiring or motor, and most motors come with brushless controllers, so if you have gotten a matched set is should be good. Again use a meter, make sure your polarity is correct, cause backwards batteries are the most damaging.
I am a newbie, and I have crashed too many times. I have replaced the broken parts, adjusted the pitch angle on the blades, but I do not know how to adjust the tail rotor. I have adjusted the fine tuner on the radio/receiver and that does nothing. If you would please tell me how to make adjustments to the tail rotor I would really appreciate it.
Put it on a Lazy susan so you can spin it and be able to not take off, then adjust the pitch to be blowing at about 4 degrees at neutral trim and left stick. It needs to blow to the right...and needs the slight pitch just for neutral hover. There should never be any need to adjust the pots, as that is just for gyro control. Set it up with no gyro first, so it is close, then you can plug it back in and fine tune it.
I have yet to have a LIPo expand. It is a rare thing. If the battery gets below 3 volts per cell, it is toast, and cannot be saved, so never run a lipo dead. Get a good Lipo Charger like from Nitroplanes or xheli or A triton from Great Planes. Good luck.
I have a Honeybee king 2, as ive told you before, and I dont know where to put my tail blades as in the positionment like if I should screw them on strait or bent a little from their clamp. could you help me out?
Leading edge of the blades are to be going into the wind when running. They should not be too tight, only snug and there should be a slight amount of pitch to counteract the main rotors toque at half throttle.
A question reguarding the transmitter. You said the hover pitch should be set to zero but I see on my transmitter it has a +/- so do Set it in the middle or at full -? Thanks in advance. ( and managed my first proper flight with my HB FP yesterday ....and crashed! lol but I think it was due to being stunned that I flew it and kinda lost concentration. But the new parts are on their way) cheers Dave.
Hover pitch is set to zero for most flying, meaning at about half throttle, you begin adding pitch. When beginning to learn keep the pitch at a minimum at low end. It is on a knob so you can adjust it in flight and find a good feeling and speed for hover. This has nothing to do with the 3d switch. Study my 9 heli flying tips and good luck.
If the battery is expanded, it is dangerous. It was either overcharged or discharged too far. Make sure your charger is a Lipo charger designed for that battery.
Great advice Dave I just bought my first Honey bee king 2 and it has the same tail boom. So I will be glueing my tail fins in place. I shall be using this video as reference to setting my bird up. Thanks Dave your the man when it comes to helis.
Try unplugging the charger and plug it back in to re boot it. Can you get a good flight or is it not fully charging? Those Esky chargers are very cautious and wont fast charge. It may be that it is charged. Also a low 12v supply can cause that.
It must have a lot out of track. Remember these things are not really in trim till they are at eye level hover, which takes finesse and practice. Check the tail belt to make sure it is not slipping under load.
I have a problem with my helicopter. I got the controlls fixed but now when I run the engine half throttle for about 30 seconds it starts smoking like crazy and the battery gets so hot it wields itself to the helicopter cord that connects to the speed controller. Please help me
Hey dave i was just re-reading my manual for the HoneyBee FP and i noticed they made the same mistake in that with the controls! So it looks like they have put that in the manuals for all of their range of helis.
I had the where the ball link had slipped inside and was on the bar, i had a flight and it was all over the place and took a lot more movements on the stick to keep the heli level, luckily when i checked it over after the flight i noticed it straight away. This was on a Honeybee FP by the way so the same make of heli.
Yea. They can get pushed in easily in a crash on all kinds of helis actually, or even picking it up by the head, as I have seen may do, instead of the rotor blades.
hey man im 15 years old and fly helicopters and also planes but i have one problem with the honeybee king 2 i could not figure out how to get the nut lock off of the main blade clamp connecting to the main blade fixed shaft i dont know if there is a special tool for it or somthing please help resentaly crashed and need to get shaft to fix bent one
Well, I do not have one to look at, as this one was sent back (and destroyed in less than 15 seconds, I might add). Usually it is an allen head wrench, and usually metric.
i have a honey bee king 2 and i blew the stock motor so can you tell me what motor, esc, pinion gear, and battery. and does the motor burn on everybodys heli is it just mine?
I dont have a king 2, but if you run any of these electrics in hover for more than 6 minutes at a time, they will overheat and burn out fast. You must cool the motors for 5 minutes for every 5 minutes you fly, on averate. Brushless is better. You can get parts on xheli(.)com I usually burned out tail motors but never mains.
That is a good price, but the King 2 is definitely not for beginners. I would get an ETRM like the Honeybee MK3 first. I always say, learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche.
Also study my "9 heli flying tips and rules of thumb" for more insight.
Thanx for the opinion , i olso hawe a Tirex 600 and im learning to fly on that ismuch handyier,.. anyway thanx for the text. i'll do my best to fix it
one more question i hawe ubgrade parts for HBK 2 , should i use them ? And a new motor with more power. I heard that problem with HBK 2 migth be in Controler olso , What do you THINK ??
I think don't fix anything that isn't broken. If your a beginner, you wont know the difference anyway. Forget what you have heard and fly what you have. The HBK2 is quite powerful and very maneuverable as you can see in this video.
Tail rotor has to be told to stay put by learning how to control that left stick. It is the hardest part for most learning helis. Remember left stick pushed to the left should make the nose go to the left, not the tail.
my thinking is that the king 2 is bigger more stable and i can expand on it if i want but with the fp ill have it and be fine but w/e . ive also heard the king is more stable so would it be better to start with in these helis?ive also heard that the fp is just great and neads nothing but the king2 NEEDS a brushless motor right away so whats ur verdict?
If your learning, the motors make no difference and you wont know any. The King is quite a handful and not good for learning on. It certainly does not need a Brushless motor as you can see in this video.
so dave for a second time pilot ive flown my firebird phantom my havoc heli my cheap piece of sh#@ heli and a lama v4. i got really good with all of them and flew em till they died except my lama cause thats still perfect and i fly it a lot still. i have flown the lama for about 2 years and got it down pat. so the question is honey bee fp or king 2. the price is about the same so thats not a problem.
I have a small throttle problem, I set the switches to how you have them in this video and the motor does not work! I have to have the THR switch in the transmitter to REV
Why is this?

Buying a HBK2 or any other collective pitch helicopter is not a good idea for a beginner.
You'll either want a Lama co-axial helicopter.
Or a Honeybee Fixed Pitch to start with and a simulator as well.
As a beginner starting with a more advanced CP heli may discourage you and will surely put a dent in your pocket.
Fixed Pitch helicopters are alot more forgiving than a CP helicopter.

ok. I finally flew my HBK2 today. My dad and I are tryin to adjust the tail servo. why? it spins out of control when we try to fly it.
PepsiRemix5 2 years ago
On the way. Good luck. Left stick pushed to right should make nose go right not tail. Otherwise belt is twisted, or tail blades spinning backwards.

Hi Mr.Herbert.
I just got my HBK2 today.
Nice heli.
Didnt adjust it, installed the anti crash kit, and the battery is charging right now.
For some reason, the heli i got came with an AC international euro charger, instead of a standard US plug.
I dunno. My battery is charging off my dad's car battery so yeah. One more thing, i will ned you 9 heli flying tips :) im beginner. Thx dave :D

stevenjo,
your spinning tail issue may be your gyro setttings. Try reversing and seeing what happens.
Also, make sure your pitch slider on your tail is centered when the rudder stick is centered.

The motors can overheat easily, so It may be they are tired. Are you sure battery is good? Tips away in a PM.

Well back in the old days, a 500 can motor was the biggest and I guess they started referencing from that. I always thought it referred to the weight of the motor.

Hi there Dave,
how do we request your flying tips? I also bought a Honey Bee king and learned the hard way that it's harder than it looks to fly a RC. I broke mine and am waiting for new tail boom and full head set.
Thanks

hey buddy, ive got a 2200mAh battery, and the cells dont all read the same voltage, 1st is 11.9, 2nd is 8.0, 3rd is 3.9. is that normal, should they all be different or the same> my 1000maH battery is showing the same readings. let me know, if i need new batteries or if its normal, thanks heaps.
777ange777 2 years ago
Your reading series. The only way to read each one it the neg terminal and pos terminal of each battery. 3.7, time 2 is 7.4 and another 3.7 is 11.1. Charged they will be higher. Try balancing them with a good balance charger.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
NightFlyer, thanks for all the tips. I'm just getting to grips with my King 2. When you went to fly outside you said let's turn the Gyro off, is that possible with the standard Gyro?
Norrad80 2 years ago
Yes, but in reality, it turns it down to a lower rate. It is impossible for most to fly without a gyro. I like rate gyros better than heading locs, myself.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
hey im a beginner and i got a Ripmax sabre....but my controlls are back to front..lol like if u put the left stick down it make heli go up and if u put the stick up it goes down.....im confused.....is this right or am i just a noob at these lol?....i took it out side and broke the main blade in like 1min....and destroyed my skids.
3atSkimm 2 years ago
The switch on the Transmitter needs to be reversed. Left stick up, is supposed to make motor go up, and vice versa.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
just wondering how do you tell how tight the belt should be and how do you adjust the tightness
bazrichi 2 years ago
I tighten it just so it bends in slightly at the body at about 1/8 inchflex both ways. Push with a Pencil eraser.

You will love this one. I recommend it. Good luck,

hey nightflyyer, i got my hbk2 and was reading the manual saying that the battery should not be charged more than 90 min, but the light does not go solid green. it keeps flashing. will it still get a full charge if the light does not go solid green, and what are your recommendations for charging the batteries?? thanks.
777ange777 2 years ago
im not nightflyyer, but i have a hbk2 and i always charge it until the charger says its ready (the green light is solid green).
Appy95 2 years ago
Sometimes it takes longer, but at 90 minutes it would be close. Best to measure the voltage and see if you have a low cell for sure. Also, the 12v supply battery may be low, if your using one.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
Hi, im using a honey king bee 2, my heli keeps spinning anti-clockwise, may i know some of the solutions to correct the problem?
0416715 2 years ago
Well, remember the left stick moved to the left is supposed to make the nose go left not tail. So, if your doing it the right way, you may have a slipping tail belt, or the pitch is backwards on the tail blades, or the unit is turning the wrong way.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
how do i fix the slipping tail belt?
and how do i correct the pitch if it's backwards?
some ppl mention about shifting the servo towards the boom. but i'm not exactly sure how to i go about doing it, it's like screwd to the tail boom.
0416715 2 years ago
Loosen it at the body, and pull back tightening the belt, and while holding it, retighten the screws. The servo will also move. You should only move the servo to make sure the pitch on the tail works even from stop to stop. Blades can be screwed on backwards.

hi, could someone reply to this soon please, i am new to remote control helicoptors and have someho unsynced my heli with my controller, please may i have some advice on what to do :)
UKHOGGY 2 years ago
i have unsynced the reciever by clicking reset button (the reciever on the heli) and now it just flashes :s what do i need to do??
UKHOGGY 2 years ago
Depending on the TX, usually (your book should tell you this) you put in the binding plug on the RX and turn it on. Then turn on the TX (while holding the TRN) switch in at the same time, which puts the tx in the binding mode and in a few seconds it will bind. Then remove the plug from the RX and restart. If yours is not a Spektrum radio, you will have to refer to your manual. Good luck.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
thanks but what is the tx and rx?? i am new to heli piloting :)
UKHOGGY 2 years ago
TX is the hand held Transmitter. Rx is the Receiver in the model.

Thanks for the tutorial, im gonna look for more
Got the hbk2 today had a few euros to spare
I paid 250 euros for mine in town

All right. Thanks.

Hello.
I have a Honey Bee King 2.. and I can't get it to fly as it just spins on its axis.
I am pretty sure it is something to do with the tail rotor but Im not too sure.
please help!
Steve
comedygenius69 2 years ago
Left stick moved to left is supposed to make the nose go left, not tail, so make sure that is right. Then check for slipping belts
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
Also another tip for the honeybee king 2. Buy the upgrade ESC and brushless motor. If you dont the stock ones will burn out because they are so cheap. Installation is easy because all i did was ziptie the ESC to the bottom like the old one and screw the motor in. If you buy from hobby-wing which is where i buy my parts online you will need to get the small gear for the motor.

Plus the gyro is blinking red at same time - almost took my hands off since the blades spooled up for half a turn at full speed for a second! - markus
mrhighintensity 2 years ago
Yep, sounds like the throttle hold is on.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
where is the throttle hold?..lol - sorry I am new to this - MR
mrhighintensity 2 years ago
Usually the 3d/throttle hold switch is on the top of the left side of tx.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
Hi niteflyer - I got an esky king 2 - worked right out of the box - I tried turning it on this morning and all it does now is heat up the speed controller - and seems to not spool up at all - only some sudden jerk movements on blades - I did not crash it just all of a sudden did that. Any suggestions? - thx markus
mrhighintensity 2 years ago
Make sure your throttle hold switch is off and stick and trim is down. and Rebind your tx. If you over heated the motor at some time, it probably is toast. Sometimes it happens after the last flight, but Try another motor. Also dont forget to use my 5-10 rule. Fly for 5 min and let motors (and brain) cool for 10. Good luck.

It can be done with the $25.00 dollor gyro, then later get the more expencive gyro you dont need HH for what use Newbees are doing. Read read read there is a heli mag out there find it RC Heli and board RR and read and when your done reading read some more there is a lot of information out there and get a better radio that can be adjusted,
Dur21 2 years ago
The radio work fine, but the programing when you hit the switch creates a big difference the the pitch of the maine blades. The tracking is horable its a shame. My heli came with the cheap gyro only rate. Thats fine I like rate you are in control. But to set it up, like you said earlier use a lazy Susan and move the servo up and back til you get it to hold the tail in place.
Dur21 2 years ago

This motor could not lift the heli the way it came set up it would barely lift at full stick. Normal ( 0 - 2 - 6 )it hover well but like you said needs more RPM maybe the motor, esc and the battery well not get hot. Idel-Up 1 ( 5 - 0 - 6 ) the motor will spin at a higher RPM I will try this next time and let you know how it went. I hover at 30 to 50 feet up not 3 to 5 feet on the ground. It is easyer to control the machine way up there.
Dur21 2 years ago
For most it is hard to see what your doing up that high if your learning. Hope it works.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
Dur21 2 years ago
i have a blade cx2 and i can fly it well now and i what somthing more now so do you think the honey bee king 2 is a good choise
Master0Row 3 years ago
No. Get a VW and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche. Start with a HB fixed pitch or CP2 first.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
u better start with cp2 as mr. herbert`s said, cause honey bee king 2 is having a lot more problem even if u didn`t crash, the main motor is not good it always burned.
kyleado 2 years ago
Well said. thanks.
NightFlyyer 2 years ago
what about a belt cp v2 then?
Master0Row 2 years ago
so could you fix mine? i have the same helicopter How much for fixing it?
giantoffire 3 years ago
I am no longer fixing helis. I fix them and still the people crash them in 15 seconds after getting them back and it is hard for them to believe they were working. I hate wasting time, while people try without instructors to learn on their own. IN this case I even made a video to prove it worked, and the guy still crashed his into oblivion. Best to get to a hobby store somewhere or pick up some helicopter mags, and get a simulator. Sorry.

i have a hbk2 but i cant get it to take off.the battery is fully charged and i have done every thing on this vido but it still will not take off. i will be putting a vido on soon, so if u look at that maybe you could tell me what is up
thanks
flyyboy123 3 years ago
How do you know battery is fully charged?
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
ive flown my hbk2 12 times and well... my stock king 2 motor smoks after a 5 min hover and it doesnt even give off much power when i have the hov. trim in the midle at 0! should i switch out the motor or could it be that somethings bent?
HeliToker 3 years ago
Motor is bad. Rule of thumb is if your going to hover electrics without a heat sink motor is to use the 5 10 mode. Hover 5, let the motor cool for 10, then fly again.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Hi dave,
i have a question. yesterday, i plugged in my honey bee king 2's battery, and smoke poured out of the speed controller. after examining it, i found it had be burnt out.
i have now purchased a new brushless one for a brushless motor, but what i want to know is whether it was the battery that caused this to burn out. meaning, was the ESC faulty, or is the battery dangerous?
thanks a lot :) subbing right now
TheNinjasClass 3 years ago
More than likely, the motor or wiring is shorted out. If not, the only other thing that could cause this would be if the battery was connected backwards. It is rare that the speed controller would burn out on its own, but it is a possibility.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
so, do you think i should replace the battery, or that it could burn the ESC out again if it was the source of the problem. many thanks
TheNinjasClass 3 years ago
Check the voltatge of the battery. I personally do not thing that is the problem however. There is a short beyond the speed controller in the wiring or motor, and most motors come with brushless controllers, so if you have gotten a matched set is should be good. Again use a meter, make sure your polarity is correct, cause backwards batteries are the most damaging.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Hi Dave,
I am a newbie, and I have crashed too many times.
MissMelbaToast 3 years ago
Put it on a Lazy susan so you can spin it and be able to not take off, then adjust the pitch to be blowing at about 4 degrees at neutral trim and left stick. It needs to blow to the right...and needs the slight pitch just for neutral hover. There should never be any need to adjust the pots, as that is just for gyro control. Set it up with no gyro first, so it is close, then you can plug it back in and fine tune it.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
how do i avoid the expanding and should i stop the rotor if it has poor power left so it cant lift anymore should i just stop flying then or??+
hiddenasskiker 3 years ago
I have yet to have a LIPo expand. It is a rare thing. If the battery gets below 3 volts per cell, it is toast, and cannot be saved, so never run a lipo dead. Get a good Lipo Charger like from Nitroplanes or xheli or A triton from Great Planes. Good luck.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I have a Honeybee king 2, as ive told you before, and I dont know where to put my tail blades as in the positionment like if I should screw them on strait or bent a little from their clamp. could you help me out?
GoEflight 3 years ago
Leading edge of the blades are to be going into the wind when running. They should not be too tight, only snug and there should be a slight amount of pitch to counteract the main rotors toque at half throttle.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
A question reguarding the transmitter. You said the hover pitch should be set to zero but I see on my transmitter it has a +/- so do Set it in the middle or at full -? Thanks in advance. ( and managed my first proper flight with my HB FP yesterday ....and crashed! lol but I think it was due to being stunned that I flew it and kinda lost concentration. But the new parts are on their way) cheers Dave.
MADPIKER01 3 years ago
Hover pitch is set to zero for most flying, meaning at about half throttle, you begin adding pitch. When beginning to learn keep the pitch at a minimum at low end. It is on a knob so you can adjust it in flight and find a good feeling and speed for hover. This has nothing to do with the 3d switch. Study my 9 heli flying tips and good luck.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
i got a question about the e sky honeybee king 2 why does the 3 cell lipo battery expand ??? i got 2 new but im worried that they will expand too
hiddenasskiker 3 years ago
If the battery is expanded, it is dangerous. It was either overcharged or discharged too far. Make sure your charger is a Lipo charger designed for that battery.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
The instructions are that way because esky indcluded a MODE1 Instruction booklet vs a MODE2...

Both the instructions for mode 1 and mode 2 ARE in the same book, if you look closer. But both are wrong.

after 3 hours of charging why does my honey bee king 2 battery still charging the flashing green light is still flashing
rusyaidi4 3 years ago
Try unplugging the charger and plug it back in to re boot it. Can you get a good flight or is it not fully charging? Those Esky chargers are very cautious and wont fast charge. It may be that it is charged. Also a low 12v supply can cause that.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Hey could you make a video on the proper setup on the blade 400
Helipro3218 3 years ago
I have several vids on the Blade 400 that should help you a lot. Check How helicopters fly to see more too.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
dave after i had blade track my heli why does it started to spin like crazy before it doent act like this
rusyaidi4 3 years ago
It must have a lot out of track. Remember these things are not really in trim till they are at eye level hover, which takes finesse and practice. Check the tail belt to make sure it is not slipping under load.

Hello i have 1 question i just buyd my
E-Sky HoneyBee King II now what is the most normal glitches on it ????
hiddenasskiker 3 years ago
Well crashing is the biggest glitch. This is absolutely not a beginners helicopter. See my 9 heli tips for more insight and good luck.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I have a problem with my helicopter. I got the controlls fixed but now when I run the engine half throttle for about 30 seconds it starts smoking like crazy and the battery gets so hot it wields itself to the helicopter cord that connects to the speed controller. Please help me
GoEflight 3 years ago
Sounds like the motor is shorted out. Time to replace it.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Hey dave i was just re-reading my manual for the HoneyBee FP and i noticed they made the same mistake in that with the controls! So it looks like they have put that in the manuals for all of their range of helis.

Yep, just like in mine, they have not figured out Mode I or II yet, well enough to explain....lol. Too bad.

will the stock battery of the honey bee king 2 work on the 3100kv brushles motor with the converter
bilalahmed6 3 years ago
Yes.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I had the where the ball link had slipped inside and was on the bar, i had a flight and it was all over the place and took a lot more movements on the stick to keep the heli level, luckily when i checked it over after the flight i noticed it straight away. This was on a Honeybee FP by the way so the same make of heli.
ElroyHarvey 3 years ago
Yea. They can get pushed in easily in a crash on all kinds of helis actually, or even picking it up by the head, as I have seen may do, instead of the rotor blades.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
hey man im 15 years old and fly helicopters and also planes but i have one problem with the honeybee king 2 i could not figure out how to get the nut lock off of the main blade clamp connecting to the main blade fixed shaft i dont know if there is a special tool for it or somthing please help resentaly crashed and need to get shaft to fix bent one
onthewingsagain 3 years ago
Well, I do not have one to look at, as this one was sent back (and destroyed in less than 15 seconds, I might add). Usually it is an allen head wrench, and usually metric.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
hi
i have a honey bee king 2 and i blew the stock motor so can you tell me what motor, esc, pinion gear, and battery. and does the motor burn on everybodys heli is it just mine?
bilalahmed6 3 years ago
I dont have a king 2, but if you run any of these electrics in hover for more than 6 minutes at a time, they will overheat and burn out fast. You must cool the motors for 5 minutes for every 5 minutes you fly, on averate. Brushless is better. You can get parts on xheli(.)com I usually burned out tail motors but never mains.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I found this heli for $155 2.4 ghz, is this a good deal? or should I buy another fp for some micro heli fun.
jvandervalk 3 years ago
That is a good price, but the King 2 is definitely not for beginners. I would get an ETRM like the Honeybee MK3 first. I always say, learn on a VW, and if you never crash it, then get the Porsche.
Also study my "9 heli flying tips and rules of thumb" for more insight.
Good luck,
Dave
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I can fly a honey bee cp2, is this a good upgrade? I just want a little better.
jvandervalk 3 years ago
sorry for asking but what does the gyro.sw, pit.trim and hov.pit do as it does not say in the manual. Thanks.
roflcopter105 3 years ago
Gyro switch is high and low gyro settings. Pitch trim is used to set where you get a comfortable mix between motor and blades in flight.
Hover pitch is used to adjust motor and blade speed mix for most comfortable hover.

I heard that problem with HBK 2 migth be in Controler olso , What do you THINK ??
mupogfaw 3 years ago
I think don't fix anything that isn't broken. If your a beginner, you wont know the difference anyway. Forget what you have heard and fly what you have. The HBK2 is quite powerful and very maneuverable as you can see in this video.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
My hely is always spining around what will that be ? text back please.... :)
mupogfaw 3 years ago
Tail rotor has to be told to stay put by learning how to control that left stick. It is the hardest part for most learning helis. Remember left stick pushed to the left should make the nose go to the left, not the tail.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
my thinking is that the king 2 is bigger more stable and i can expand on it if i want but with the fp ill have it and be fine but w/e . ive also heard the king is more stable so would it be better to start with in these helis?ive also heard that the fp is just great and neads nothing but the king2 NEEDS a brushless motor right away so whats ur verdict?
mxf7010g8k 3 years ago
If your learning, the motors make no difference and you wont know any. The King is quite a handful and not good for learning on. It certainly does not need a Brushless motor as you can see in this video.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
so dave for a second time pilot ive flown my firebird phantom my havoc heli my cheap piece of sh#@ heli and a lama v4. i got really good with all of them and flew em till they died except my lama cause thats still perfect and i fly it a lot still. i have flown the lama for about 2 years and got it down pat. so the question is honey bee fp or king 2. the price is about the same so thats not a problem.

Learn on a VW, and if you never crash, get the Porsche. Point? Start with the HB FP.
