  • RIP all of those brave warriors who were engulfed in a gaint anus in the ground

  • Thumbs up if u think there should be a disney ride of this!

  • It was probably easier making the movie with scylla in a cave

  • kill the badgers!

  • could u imagine if charybdis existed (the one with the huge mouth) ?? that'd be freaky

  • Also, I bet that one dislike is the guy who kept yelling "TRY ME".

  • No goats were hurt in the making of this film.

  • This is my revision for my Odyssey exam...

  • 4:54 he says "Holy $H&T"

  • comeon try me hahahah sycla ate him like pizza lol he was acting so brave lol idiot

  • This film is incorrect. 6 of Odysseus' men were eaten by Scylla, not 3. Also, the men did not encounter Charybdis, because Odysseus chose Scylla. The rest of Odysseus' men were killed by Zeus after leaving the island of Thrinacia, where they ate the cattle of the sun god, Lord Helios.

  • idk how i got here but just what i need to watch for my finals this week.

  • i watched this in english as well as some other ppl did. and apparently this movie is inacurate. well like what harpiyon said and u see all Odysseus' men die from Charybdis, but the remaining ppl in his crew died because they ate some cattle that belonged 2 a god.... bad idea.

  • Oh yea I completely forgot this was the one we watched in English. I loved my English teacher

  • 5:25 BURP!!!

  • 4:54... HOLY SHIT

  • @Pes2011Sucks LMAO

  • Oh u got more than tried lol

  • I did not like english class that well but this is one mythology that i really enjoyed and got into reading.

  • im reading percy jackson and the sea of monsters yay

  • What sucks about this scene is basically the entire crew you've grown to like through all their adventures die suddenly, without lament.

  • I love this interpretation of Charybdis.

  • I love this part

I love how the goat becomes their prophet of doom, fortelling a grewsome fate between the jaws of the monster

I love how Odysseus mourns the death of each sailor, while mourning his OWN survival

  • 1:27

  • its ironic how he says " ROW FOR YOUR LIVES!!!" but in reality, theyre really rowing towards their death.

  • I love this movie. This part always freaked me out, but it was so cool! I think that the mouths of Scylla look a lot like the Venus fly trap.

  • a two-part remake is definetly in order, otherwise, the movie should be at least like 3 hours long

  • The design of this encounter is just terrifying.

  • a three headed tapeworm..........nice

  • Poor girl. The victim of a horrible curse. She makes one hell of a monster though. lol

  • I HAVE THIS AESOME MOVIE SOMEONE NOWS IF IT IS IN BLUE RAY

  • THIS PLACE IN THE EARTH IS SAID THAT IS BETWEEN THE ISLAND OF SICILIA AND ITALY IS A STRECH PASSAGE .I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE SAIL A COUPLE OF TIMES THERE WITH THE NAVIGATOR OF THE SEAS

  • what is scylla? a special hydra or what?

  • @dalleravn scylla was a women i believe that one of the goddesses was jealous of, so the goddess turned the women into scylla

  • @dolphinheatfan is it not the story of Madossa or am i wrong?

  • 4:52 did Odysseus just yell holy shit? I didn't know the saying was around in Homer's time.

  • A rather cowardly monster

  • Scylla looks like a bunch of Venus flytraps and Charybdis looks like the anus of Satan. Strange art design, but creative I guess.

  • I am so happy that Charybdis does not exist.

  • poor goat....

  • The wind-god should just keep the windsack for himself, then they would be @ home already.

  • Scylla was once a beautiful nymph who was fancied by Gluacus the sea god, but she wanted nothing to do with him. He turned to Circe, the sea witch and asked for help, but she fell in love with Glaucus, and pined for him, but he did not love her. In anger, she turned on Scylla and poured an elixer into the cave where she bathed and it turned her into the monster we are admiring right now,,,another life ruined by a horny god!

  • @ccipollini1984 yeah those Greek Gods had many flaws, they were arrogant, vengeful & horny: Zeus & Poseidon produced many Demi-god bastards with mortal women (often disguised as a swan, a bull etc.), heroes like Hercules, Perseus etc. are said to be such Demi-gods

those Greek Gods were immortal & powerful and still, they were acting exactly like humans. they´re almost sympathetic, at least you understand their motivations & ways of thinking

too bad there are no such Gods any more ;)

  • @harpiyon in Greek it was Heracles/Herakles

  • @ccipollini1984 Thanks for the info. :) Very interesting! I love greek mythology.

  • Saw this as a kid and it traumatized me. Especially when Ody fell into the ocean with that... throat.

  • LMAO "HOLY SHIET" 4:53

  • According to mythology, Scylla was once a beautiful nymph who was admired by the Glaucus. He would visit her everyday in a cove she bathed in and when she would not return his advances, Glaucua went to the sea witch Circe and asked for help, but she also fell for Glaucus, but his heart was to Scylla. As a result. angry Circe concocted a brew that she poured into Scyllas coe that turned her into a monster.

  • @ccipollini1984 Wow interesting, I didn´t know that. I only knew that Scylla was female. What a romantic, yet sad story. And I suppose Glaucus, the man who loved her once, is another Glaucus than the one who fought in the Trojan War on side of the Trojans?

BTW I think they made a good job in this movie, both Scylla and Charybdis look very, very scary.

  • poor goat

  • @Greencze The book and movie have different stories I don't know why though

  • @prickdude1 Guess they didnt have the time/money to do a scene where they kill Helios' cattle and have Zeus lightning bolt them...admittedly, being eaten by Scylla is a much cooler death.

  • @Ulron1 I mean Charybdis.

  • haha were were reading the book and watching the movie at school!

  • bad breath ..

  • It's a trap!

  • This movie is not accurate... Oddyseus had to make a choice... Charybda or Scylla... he chose Scylla becose he knew he is going to loose his troops one way or another. The difference was, that if he chose Charybda, everyone would die. He chose Scylla and "only" 6 men of his crew died. Thats what the book say... :P

  • Big teeth. 8D

  • poor goat! D:

  • they like never run out of crew members

  • biggest sarlacc pit EVAR!!!!

  • Hahaha "There's nothing there." Then her head comes down and devours them.

  • Why the hell did they go in that cave in the first place !!!

  • @WilliamD30011 why is this comment spam? he's telling the truth

  • @TheCristianalvarez It was the only wy to get to he other side.Unfortunately, the charibdis was there too...

  • @TheCristianalvarez According to Homer´s Odyssey it was not a cave but a narrow passage with Scylla on one side & Charybdis on the other. It was the only passage and it was so narrow that sailors had to choose, would they come close to Scylla or to Charybdis? When she was hungry, Scylla could kill 6 men at once: she had 6 heads & snached 1 man with every head. Charybdis on the other hand, could swallow a whole ship. Hence most sailors got closer to Scylla, i.e. they chose the lesser of 2 evils.

  • @harpiyon YU ARE PERFECT THAT HOW IT IS SHOWN OIN THE BOOK THE ODYSSEY

  • @harpiyon what version did you read? We just went over the odyssey in my freshmen high school class, and that choice was between the scylla and some rocks that would've crashed the ship at an intersection. charybdis came later and was avoided?

  • @TheCristianalvarez

Thats what i wanna know, couldn't they have gone around it??

  • Why the hell did they go in that cave in the first place !!!

  • Ulysses ship was destroyed by Poseidon in the book

  • Scylla was missing the dog heads en her female body... I liked more how Charybdis looked

  • nice vid, but it's not correct. in the Odyssey Odysseus could choose between Scylla and Charybdis. He prefered Scylla, as he would only lose 6 men in this case, compared to everyone when he picked Charybdis.

  • I feel so bad for Odysseus

  • actually shyla in greek means bitch!

  • there r actually 2 monsters here....the first one is Scylla as u said, the second is Charybdis....i agree they should remake the Odyssey..

  • @ParalimniVoice Haha, i was just thinking the same. If they remade the Odyssey, I could watch it over and over. :P I could watch THIS one a couple times over but I don't have the movie. I only watch certain scenes in my Literature class. My teacher won't let us watch scenes with Calypso tho.. apparently they show some "stuff" in the movie version. Or something along those lines.. Everytime we're assigned to read another chapter/section i can't help but read ahead. Too bad we're at the end now D:

  • @SmexeNinja my classics teacher let us rewatch the scenes with Calypso 3 times... he's a legend

  • charybdis is bad ass

  • those remind me of the monsters from disneys hercules

  • Charydbis looks amazing!

  • this doesnt look like scylla but cool anyways

  • 4:53 does he say HOLY SHIT?!

  • @whopper1209 so so true fellow whopper

  • @Citzen92 ;D

    greeting's fellow, um... Citzen :D

  • @whopper1209 lolololololol

  • @BlackKnightJ1108 Yes, Goldam likes Odyssey xDD

  • listen 4:52

  • Yes! Thank God I found the actual, whole scene.

Do you mind telling me where I can download this scene? I need it for an English assignment - we have to make a parody of this scene, and I was planning on using the actual movie scene... with some alterations. X3.

  • If this movie was remade wit the current technology and visual effects stated by someone....i can see this movie to be pretty good...specially this part!! :o

  • The scary thing is for the ancient Greeks this was real.

  • I'd take a rain check on that trip. And INeedAYTAccount4 had an interesting point, to see them remake this now, 13 years later.

  • "TRY ME!" *gets eaten* Scylla is awesome.

  • lol, that thing did more than just try him.

  • My favorite part of the film :D, was so awesome.

  • I would love someone to remake this part. Scylla looked very good here, wonder how awsome she would look with our current technology.

  • @INeedAYTAccount4 oh yeah it would freakin awesome

  • @INeedAYTAccount4

NO NO NO, movies that time were the best. These days, it sucks. There are never ever any movies like the old times anymore.

  • @INeedAYTAccount4 it would be 100% animated...

  • @INeedAYTAccount4 yes i think the same, but in my opinion, scylla should be remaked half woman half monster, just as the legend, cause this monsters looks like a giant plant. Maybe some scylla like medusa from clash of the titans remake. Although this movie is great the part where they are entering the cave

  • Scylla is the shizzle. The end creature is called Charydbis. Im reading in the second Percy Jackson book "Sea of Monsters" and am at the part where they find Scylla and Charydbis. Made me remember this movie and decided to peep it out :D

  • @Cplblue Haha!!! That is wat im doing now!! xD DAmn forgot all bout this movie...thought i watch this part again...But no dead Confederate soldiers or the USS Birmingham though!!! :P

  • @Cplblue Dude that book series is beast!!!! I love this part of the Odyssey. It's one of my favorite parts!

  • @Cplblue such a good series man

  • @Cplblue will they make a second percy jackson movie?

  • @Cplblue

    OMG SAME STORY LMAO!!!

  • @Cplblue ... don't waste your time with literary garbage ... percy jackson?.. really?... go read some of homer's epics.

  • @lolpocalypse I've actually read both :D Sometimes it's fun to read junkfood books.

  • @Cplblue haha nice! It seems that there are so many people nowadays that consider themselves well-read after reading captain underpants and the twilight series.

  • @lolpocalypse well nowadays i'd say kudos for people even reading ;)

  • @Cplblue ::( I know... Recently picked up GeorgeR.R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" it's the first in his series called Of Fire and Ice .. If you're into all this mythological fantasy I'd highly reccomend it, the level of verisimilitude is amazing, it's such a beautiful universe to get lost in :P

  • @lolpocalypse My friend is on his newest novel. He really digs it and told me to read it. I guess I should, since the HBO series, it's been getting a lot of new found praise.

  • @Cplblue Yeah, I picked it up because I heard about the series and never got around to staying up late to watch it.

  • scylla actually looks pretty cool. just needs a more "human look" like have a human tone but face is fucked up. ya know what i mean? awesome vid!

  • lol whats that thing at the end of vid.

  • @haaieer

the thing in the water? thats Charybdas... its a whirlpool, Odysseus had to either sail past the whirl pool or Scylla the 6 headed monster... he chose the monster.

i will admit its a poor adaptation of the book

  • a whirlpool ? but it looks like a giantic monster that closes his mouth ?

  • @haaieer

yep, its a bad recreation of the epic novel

but in the original book, they never were taken in by the whirlpool, they only had trouble with charybdas... your best off reading the book, its wayyyy wayyyyy better.

  • @haaieer It just sucks in a crap load of water and then when it's full, it closes back up.

  • I have one question, its just why does scylla look like a venus fly trap instead of dog heads beneath her waist? Did the director just want it that way? Thanks for putting it up!!!! :D

  • Hollywood wasnt advanced enough at this point for detail

  • Mabye

  • Comment removed

  • @TomTom6055 it actually shouldnt even look like dog heads. it should be pale blue skin, black hair, sharp teeth, yellow eyes, has 6 heads, and the rest of the body is a tentacles

  • @shindouhikaru43 it depends on which version you read, one pic had dogs beneth her waist, another said she looked like a fleshy spider with like six heads. They are different versions, either way thanks for replying!! :D
