What a beautiful town. My wife and I are planning a visit in the next few weeks, I want to look up where my family originated on my fathers side which I have traced back to 1795 with my gt gt gt granfather James Hough. I look forward to seeing All Saints Church where so many relatives were married and finding more Hough's to add to my family tree.

I am a Stamfordian and proud of it. I live in Shrewsbury now which is a town I don't like very much. I always visit the town at least once a year and really enjoy my holidays there and all the walking I do in the surrounding Countryside. I Grandparents used to live on Ryhall Road and now they are at rest in the Cemetry. My parents married at St George's Church and met for the first time at a dance in St Mary's Street back in the 60's. When I was I child I lived in Bourne just up the road.

Oh yes, Stamford is such a lovely place....i cannot for the life of me forget all its lanes, valleys, pubs etc....

I stayed there for two months some 15 years ago....i was a student in a training period there.Two years ago, I turned up there after 13 years of abscence......I was awfully happy ; yet my heart was bleeding.....I was trying to resume the then sensation once among my mates in the Meadows, in the then the Bonkers, Castlehill School etc....
