I have only kept a channa micropeltes (giant SH) once, and it was a pain in the ass. Beautiful fish though! The fact that they are illegal where I live keeps me from having anymore snakeheads. They are awesome fish, but many idiots buy them thinking it will be cool and release them, thats the whole problem

Actually, I had a snakehead and an Oscar in a 250g, each about 8 inches in length, and the Oscar would not stop chasing the snakehead for one second. Nothing dramatic happened though, because the snakehead hid most of the time if he wasn't being chased. He got sick soon after, I think from running out of steam, and started swimming upside, but I got him out before the Oscar began a slow agonizing kill, and I ended his suffering with a dead blow hammer. Just my personal experience.

The reason being in that piranhas are pack fish that tend to attack in groups. When alone, they tend to be shy. Snakeheads can take out any fish alone. they don't work in packs. i think this has been answered by someone else but pound for pound, one snakehead will win even over any specie of piranha. The reason being in that piranhas are pack fish that tend to attack in groups. When alone, they tend to be shy. Snakeheads can take out any fish alone. they don't work in packs. Why do you think there's a problem with snakeheads being invasives and illegal to have all over the eastern U.S.? plus they can survive anything. (i'm not a snakehead owner. i keep cichlids)

Actually a Black Piranha around 17-18" could kill alot of things his size. The BP would be like 10-11" tall. It would be hard for any fish to fit in its mouth. Snakeheads do not have "tearing teeth like piranha. They have to have the thing in their mouths and shake it to tear it. With a piranha all it takes is a single bite to take out a chunk. I would not see any fish of the same size being able to kill a hungary piranha. yeah it would kill your a Red Devil to. who cares though?

You need a big ass tank for that monster!Try to mix in a gator gar with that snakehead. They do tend to get along and eat the same way. my friend has both with some Wallye all the same size. Snakeheads only eat fish smaller.

My giant snakeheads are around three feet long.
They kill fish two feet long by taking baseball-sized bites.
They only thing they don't kill is big gars.
Ocellaris, big clown knives - they all die. Like they were hit with a giant hole punch, typically right on the back. Lost a bunch before I learned. Sometimes they last a day with a giant hole.
I would probably die with the baseball-sized bite taken out of me.
